Enlighten me on the topic

i mean what is it like dining at a fancy steakhouse?

any recommendations? What am I to expect?

it seems like an easy place for ordering food, they probably mostly just have steaks but you know they probably try to push salads and potatoes

We generally go to a nice steak house at least once a year. I don’t know what you have up there but down here Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is always top notch and then I have a really nice one in my small town.
My absolute favorite though is Texas de Brazil which is a Brazilian steak house. All meat all the time as much as you want and cooked to perfection over an open fire.
It doesn’t matter whether I’m at a cafe in town or the fanciest restaurant in town I’ve never had any of them try to push the sides on me. At the most the server might ask what sides I want but they have never tried to push them on me.
When the server comes to take my order I simply order my steak rare and say no sides please. Most times the server just repeats my order back to me and then moves on to the next order. Occasionally they will ask are you sure you don’t want anything else but they never try to push anything on me.
It no big deal to just order what you want and just say no to those things you don’t want.

I went to one of those for the first time about a month ago and absolutely loved the experience. All you can eat meat is my kinda thing, lol. I strived hard to get my money's worth too.

Steakhouses are good choices for carnivores for obvious reasons. And if you can't stand dismissing the sides because you are paying for them after all, it's not gonna be the end of the world if you choose wisely. A salad or broccoli isn't going to kill you. But mashed potatoes and honey-glazed brussel sprouts might spike your blood sugar more than you would like.

We don't eat out that often but there is a Brazilian steakhouse close to where I work and we will check it out in the near future.

The last time we ate out I sort of fibbed a bit and told the waiter I was allergic to seed oils and needed the grill scraped and use butter. The steak was really good.

I ordered sides that my son and daughter-in-law liked so it didn't really go to waste.

It is not like the advertised price of the steak drops if you ditch the sides, might as well let someone eat them.

I’ve only gotten one steakhouse to let me order ala cart and the price difference was negligible so not worth it.
So now I ask who wants my sides or I’ll bring them home to my dogs or chickens.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk. Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Let's keep our resolutions going strong!
