Yesterday i started eating on a carnivore diet.  Tonight, after I finished eating about a pound of pork chops, about 15 minutes later my stomach was growling, like I have not eatin in  weeks....do I push through this?  Is this a sign that something is wrong?  It also happened last night, after eating beef.

Those are carb withdrawals, and the fact you are not fat adapted, being it, you're only a day in, a release of ghrelin hormone is sending you a message that your usual carb intake was not there. Obviously, when you know you just ate, you are not starving.

In addition, you need more fuel in fat with pork chops. Add some butter and you'll see those pangs will decrease. It will take from 2 to 4 weeks. After over a year I still sometimes get that pang, because I have always finished a meal with a desert, or something sweet.

Fat is fuel now. Good luck.

First response is spot on. For most, they fade in time. Not as frequent and not as intense.

Becoming fat adaptive is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

And most pork doesn't carry enough fat ( I pick the cheaper/fattier cuts for the fat content alone, plus, I'm cheap)

It takes some time to adjust and every person does so at different rates. I am not a fan of the word but it has ended up the best way to describe but you are in the first of detox from sugars and carbs. It will get better with time.

Are there any supplements that will help?  like berberine?

The only supplement that will help is butter or beef fat.
I don’t like pork or chicken unless I drown it in butter. There just isn’t enough of the right fats in them to satiate me.
If you are experiencing cravings after eating that much meat then you definitely need to be eating more fat at your meal.
Salt can also help but fat is better.
That growling isn’t your stomach. It’s fluids moving through your intestines.
You are highly addicted to carbs and there’s no easy easy way of doing this if you don’t have the right mindset. You have to be determined to win at all costs. Failure is not an option. When you have that kind of mindset it’s much easier to ignore the cravings. For the average person they only last 2 to 4 weeks.
Hang in there. Eat plenty of fat and get tough.

Eat more pork chops, or preferably something a bit fattier. Your pork chops are probably very lean. I know when I eat lean meats, like chicken breast, i don't feel satiated for very long.

Essentially you want to eat fatty red meat or fatty fish. Don't drain the fat. Don't be afraid of fat. Indulge in the fat, lol. Eat until you are comfortably stuffed.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
