Thousands Sue Weight Loss Drug Manufacturers With Serious Harm AllegationsBy Anthony Yates Thousands of people have come forward alleging serious harm caused by GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Those products include Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro. According to a report by USA Today, at least 4,400 people have filed lawsuits since the first was filed in 2023. Those suits are now part of a consolidated federal and state litigation and target two drugmakers: Novo Nordisk, which manufactures Ozempic, and Eli Lilly, which makes Trulicity, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. The companies reportedly said they refute the allegations and will defend the safety of their products. The USA Today report focuses on three troubling cases in the growing lawsuit. 63-year-old Todd Engel was using Ozempic to manage his diabetes. However, he told the outlet that he lost vision in one eye after using the drug for four months. His medication reportedly never came up as a potential cause of his sight loss, and he lost vision in his other eye months later. 72-year-old JoHelen McClain reportedly used Wegovy in November 2023, aiming to shed a few pounds. In March 2024, she heard a noise like a "balloon popping," which she later discovered was the sound of her colon rupturing. USA Today also interviewed Mark Smith. He told the outlet that his wife, 62-year-old Robin Smith, was taking Mounjaro for weight loss. She reportedly visited the hospital twice for vomiting. Her doctor suggested she stop using the drug, but her problems persisted. Days later, doctors diagnosed her with Wernicke's encephalopathy, which the outlet explains is a neurological condition caused by a lack of thiamine or Vitamin B1. It's often linked to malnutrition. The outlet points out that an estimated 12% of Americans use GLP-1 weight-loss drugs and that the plaintiff's account for a small percentage of users. USA Today also cites a 2024 court filing by the two drug companies. They explain that the known risks are reflected in FDA-approved labeling, which the FDA has reviewed more than 40 times. USA Today details a Gallup Study, which claims that the usage of GLP-1 drugs doubled between 2024 and 2025.Chief of Research and Development at the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Ziyad Al-Aly, reportedly stated that no medicine is risk-free. However, he believes the benefits outweigh the risks for most patients. Legal challenges are expected to take several years. Hi everyone
I'm new here so my apologies in case I'm not doing this right. This is going to be a long one. I have a problem, a crisis actually, and I was hoping I could get some help here. So about 3 years ago I went off birth control pills (I was on them for 6 years) which destroyed my hormones. I started getting cystic acne like I'd never experienced before. The scars are still there and they're so bad that I've been getting laser treatment. It was horrific. I started missing my cycles. Extreme mood swings and uncontrollable weight gain. My hair fell out in clumps (still haven't recovered after 3 years). I looked for a solution. I already knew about Dr. Lustig's work on sugar but even cutting out sugar didn't help much. That's when I stumbled on Dr. Ken Berry's content. He talked about keto so that's what I tried and the results were ok but not enough to fix me. He also talked about carnivore so I tried it. It worked like magic. 3 months in and my acne was reduced and my weight started going down. I was on the lion diet for 2 years. Everything but my hair fall was fixed. Then something happened in my life that threw me off balance a bit and I had one bite of cake. One small bite and then all hell broke loose on me. In a matter of weeks I developed bulimia. Binging and purging. And one year later, right now, I've been trying to get back on carnivore without success. The binge continues but I had to stop the purge due to recurring blood in my vomit (pardon the graphic description), and fasting and exercise just make me binge even worse. I didn't have this problem before. I have severe meat aversion. I can't stand it even though before, it used to be my favorite food in the world. I've tried fasting, going cold turkey, keto to ketovore to carnivore, all without success. I'm at the end of my rope. I've put on 20 kg and my acne is coming back. Does anyone have a similar experience? Meat aversion is my main problem. I just can't stand red meat anymore or eggs or anything. I just want to get back on carnivore but I don't understand why I cannot. My apologies for the super long post and thank you for reading.
