Does anyone get meat from the meat companies? I want to try one, but no clue which one to try. You know, like Butcher Block, etc.?

I know a guy a little south of me that sells premium beef. I don’t know if it will suit you or be in your budget but I’ll post some information on his operation.

I don't but I like you I am curious how they fair. I've seen Shawn Baker and Kerry Mann promote these companies, BUT those are also sponsorship deals. I would hope that they would only promote a product that they truly loved.

I get my meats locally, either from Sam's Club, or from Duma's meats which is my local butcher.

Though he may not have been there, Bob is not that far from the "Bearded Butchers". They are local to Ohio and have a YouTube Chanel where you can check them out.

I have never ordered from them and can't speak for their prices compared to what is available where you live. It does not look like they are any more expensive than other mail order meat companies.

From what I can tell, they have a decent variety of meats and bacon. They make their own bacon.

Their store in Creston is called White Feather Meats. It's 45 minutes away. I should check it out :)

Since posting the original post, I'm now getting a slew of ads from Meat Shipping Companies. Most of them I've never heard of but at the moment I'm narrowing them down to US Wellness Meats and Meatworks. Maybe Butcher Block too, but more research needed on them. Still searching for reviews on them and their companies. I not only want clean and good quality meats, chicken, seafood, etc., but good customer service and good pricing. I have a great grocery store in my tiny town in the middle of nowhere, Indiana, but lately their ribeyes are stringy, grissley, and tough for some reason. Their chicken, even the rotisserie chicken has odd texture and strange taste and tough. Usually the rotisserie chicken could be cut with a fork! Anyhow, the search continues!!!

We are pondering buying a 1/2 cow mid-February. We are going to get a 'sampler-platter of sorts' in a couple weeks. Figure out if it is what we want to do on a larger scale.

It is an expensive one time purchase but over the long term it looks like we could save a few dollars.

This is from a local that raises and processes their own meats not so much a big company. I am sure there are some difference in the dollars between the two so it will come down to taste, convenience, and cost.

Interesting in your opinions on the larger type stores.

When u buy 1/2 a beef u need to be prepared. U need a freezer with a temperature alarm. Power can fail, u need a plan to deal with that. And if u not happy with the meat, we'll u kind of stuck with it, just saying, there are risks to be considered

All that is a check.

We are getting a sampler platter in a week or so.

From there we will see if we go that route.
