Today is the first day of January and is also the first day of World Carnivore Month. To that end, let's challenge ourselves to eat a carnivore diet for the entire month of January. The type of carnivore diet and the level of strictness you choose to do is entirely up to you. Examples of carnivore diets include the following...
1) The Lion Diet. A person eating the Lion Diet only consumes the flesh of ruminant animals, water, and salt.
2) The BBBE Diet. BBBE is an acronym for Beef, Butter, Bacon, and Eggs.
3) The Carnivore Diet. This allows for the consumption of any and all animals and animal by-products, including dairy.
In any of the above examples, the object of course is to not consume any plants as part of your diet. Of course, we're not going to micromanage hoe you prepare your food, so your use of seasonings is entirely your own personal choice.
IF your circumstances don't allow you to go full on carnivore in January, then you can participate in this topic by challenge yourself to do better, above and beyond what you have been doing. For example, if you have still been eating grains, seed oils, refined sugar, or drinking alcohol, challenge yourself to avoid these items and just eat a clean, single ingredient whole foods diet such as clean keto, ketovore, or animal based.
We encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk. Participants in this topic will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the month.
Hello!
I just got my lab results and would like your input. My new provider that I just established with sent me a message and basically told me I should really consider going on a statin and yes my A1C is prediabetic. I have been doing the Carnivore Life Style since 05/13/2024 (858 days). I did put in my information into Copilot to help me explain my lifestyle and the results to my doctor.
LDL: 175 mg/dL
ApoB: 129 mg/dL
HDL: 120 mg/dL
Triglycerides: 51 mg/dL
Insulin: 2.6 µIU/mL
A1C: 5.8%
Fructosamine: 245 µmol/L
hs-CRP: 1.0 mg/L
BMI: 22.46
My overall pattern aligns with what is described in the literature as a Lean Mass Hyper-Responder (LMHR) profile. Individuals who are lean, insulin-sensitive, and follow a very low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diet often demonstrate elevated LDL and ApoB despite excellent triglycerides, HDL, inflammation markers, and insulin levels. In this context, LDL elevations may reflect changes in cholesterol transport and lipid metabolism rather than the metabolic dysfunction commonly associated with insulin resistance.
My A1C is slightly elevated, but my fasting insulin and fructosamine suggest good glycemic control. It has been proposed that low-carbohydrate diets may contribute to mildly elevated A1C values through longer red blood cell lifespan and physiological adaptations to carbohydrate restriction, potentially making A1C appear somewhat higher than expected relative to other markers of glucose metabolism.
I'm considering taking Berberine to see if this helps lower by A1C. My daily diet consists of OMAD, most days, Beef, Butter, Bacon and Eggs. I do incorporate some salmon and lamb. I do drink black coffee, water and some plain no flavor sparkling water. (Please don't take my Carnivore card away)
Bob-thank you for your weekly live streams, I do listen to it on play back on my way to work daily and really enjoy your content!
