Maybe better way to put it,gout is in remission. I started cutting down my Allopurinol dosage a year ago and completely quit Allo in May. Being in very low carb keto ( about 10 g carb/day ) for 14 months now, I have not had a single gout attack in eight months. I have eaten hot wings, anchovies, mushrooms, sometimes had red and white wine... anything... no flare-ups. My gout was really bad some years ago, both achilles tendons in flames at the same time etc. Any food seemed to trigger it. But cutting sugars/carbs eventually got rid of it. I just tested, had hot wings for dinner four days in a row. Fish eggs (caviar) at breakfast every day. Nothing. I can not take efficient gout painkillers , not even ibuprofen because of blood thinners so this is just great.

Is Wednesday, journey 21 much to do today. Temperatur is 0 degrees at 4 AM in lancaster PA. Blood Glucose Level (BGL) is at 80, very nice. Carbohydrate intake is at about 0.25 grams per hou. I could not resist. So that be 6 carbs per day. Long range focast says very cold for next 2 weeks. In the next 4 days a major snow event is possible. With my n I t drinking Coke Zero the stock price us slipping. I am saving at least $ 1.50 a day on diet soda. Local family owned grocery store 85/15 beef is $ 4.50 per pound. Their ribeye is ~ 12 dollars per pound. Every day prices. Going to miss those prices when I leave this area. So u all be well, avoid any excessive carbs and fiber. U know anything over 5 grams of carbs or fiber at day is excessive, well at least for me. Preparing to do some blood work. Going to do a c-peptide to see w h a t my pancreas is doing insulin production wise. An enzyme test too, see if pancreas is being messed up. Adds on utube tell me I meed warm water and cinnamon before bed to kill the parasites that are destroying my pancreas and are the root cause of diabetes. Well that is all for now, u all be well and eat to thrive.
  4. Unfortunately. Most people do not I t understand the GLP1 medication. Dr. Eric Westman recently stated in a video that a strong ( < 20 total carbs a day) Keto style diet would be more effective with less cost and side effects. People want easy and fast results.
  5. I tried them in 2018 and thought I was allergic to them because I had everyone of the reaction symptoms. Turns out it was the final straw in triggering my auto-immune issues. Probably had them off and on for the longest but never all of them at one time until I took three-four days of a statin. I can't see me ever going that route again. Scott
  6. I thank God almost every day that I am allergic to statins

Carnivore, just my opinion here. Is not going to be over about 5% of the population. Why.? Human nature and Addiction. You can go off plan, you do not die by eatting one Snickers bar. The lack of that outcome says it all. Is why there are seat belt laws, interlocking systems and the like. The final straw is people do not know or understand cholesterol, insulin, and basic biology. They believe the old repeating messages.

Ty, at noon. Friday. Jan 30, it still going down. On 30% less insulin.

There was one occasion about 5 years ago, I was doing dirty keto and making some progress, that I thought I broke my big toe. I dealt with it for over a month before finally giving in and getting an x-ray which came back as everything was just fine. So in hindsight, it might have been a gout attack. I was dirty keto - plant heavy, and still drinking here and there. I have not had another episode like this since starting carnivore or carnivore-centric keto eating patterns.

BGL Is still going down. So right now I am not using any fast acting insulin. My long acting, Lantus insulin dose is constant. Will give it time, if it holds or drops more I will Very slowly dial back the lantus insulin. I an thinking very slow reduction in dose might be best for me, allow body to adapt.

I used to get it way too often. Well, anytime is too often. But like you, hadn't had it since I been watching what I ate. Then last year BAM right in the toe. I tell people it's like having a kidney stone in your toe. Anyhow, The only thing I could think of that I had ate that might of triggered it was I ate nearly a whole container of beef jerky. And it had loads of black pepper in it. Black pepper has quite a bit of oxalates. I have since laid off the black pepper and haven't had a flair up. Coincidence or just lucky? I don't know but I'll take it. I have since read up on pepper and White pepper has about a 1/4 of the oxalates of black pepper. So when I get an urge for pepper, that's what I use. And sparingly.

Bob and one other reacted to Geezy for a post in a topic

    2 points
It’s not a big deal in my opinion. It’s natural for those eating a high fat and protein diet to have higher cholesterol numbers simply because we are using fat for energy so we need that fat running through our veins. What important is Triglycerides to HDL ratio and yours if fantastic. If you are really that concerned then go get a CAC score done and or a complete lipid profile done that includes looking at the size of your LDL particles.

I'm sure anything extra can add to it. I would think it is not solely the butter but a combination. I went on a protein kick and sort of let the fat content drop (not really paying attention) my cholesterol dropped by 15 points in about 70 days. Then when I shifted back to a high fat/moderate protein approach (which included what most would consider 'a lot' of butter) I jumped back up nearly 20 points in about 90 days. Not sure that answered or helped. Scott

I imagine that they are either.... 1) Vehemently angry, wanting to "peacefully protest" by smashing or breaking things. These are the mentally-diseased political snots. Or... 2) Understand the concept of "eat real food" and will simply find plant-based alternatives to their protein and "dairy".

Lol, it is Paul. Got hungry, ate a pack of pork chops cooked in bacon fat. CGM is now up to 75. I will take it. No big rise from eating the pork. Makes me think, what do the vegans think about the food guide now. No pun intended, but their world is rather upside down.
  26. Been on straight red meat since the beginning of December and it has mostly been versions of chuck meat. I have been hitting the grocery store early on Monday morning and buying up all the red meat I can that has been reduced for quick sale. My wife is not the biggest fan but it hasn't killed me. Saves a few dollars and keeps me on the 'red meat kick' which started around the first of December and will stretch til February. I have labs schedule mid-Feb and I am sort of self-experimenting again/still dialing in. Scott

Since posting the original post, I'm now getting a slew of ads from Meat Shipping Companies. Most of them I've never heard of but at the moment I'm narrowing them down to US Wellness Meats and Meatworks. Maybe Butcher Block too, but more research needed on them. Still searching for reviews on them and their companies. I not only want clean and good quality meats, chicken, seafood, etc., but good customer service and good pricing. I have a great grocery store in my tiny town in the middle of nowhere, Indiana, but lately their ribeyes are stringy, grissley, and tough for some reason. Their chicken, even the rotisserie chicken has odd texture and strange taste and tough. Usually the rotisserie chicken could be cut with a fork! Anyhow, the search continues!!!

They work very hard at it every day. And of course they visit the wall where the results are posted. They are learning to process and deal with the results. I will try to post the 9 year old Pic. She was so proud to finish at the top of a group of 18 dancers. And incase u have not heard, h er older brother is headed to Wirkds to compete at Easter time. IMG_20260118_050222.heic

  34. The thin chuck meat is usually cooked in an iron skillet. Sometimes on the grill and sometimes on the smoker. A few weeks ago I ground up some with some beef fat and made some chuck burger (probably between 60/40 and 70/30 as I don't weigh the two parts. I go by color. Scott

I think that is Kerry Mann's cut of choice also. How do you usually prepare it? Yesterday I had sausage patties and cheese around noon. And for dinner it was 4 lamb steaks (the kind with the t-shaped bone in them) which did not fill me up so I added a wrap with Egg Life Wraps, beef bologna, and pepper jack cheese.
  36. Looking back at our ancestries I believe we were primary meat eaters but at the same time I doubt we passed by an apple tree and just 'went without'. Whole foods, not ultra-processed foods eaten in season, should really do no harm. Our meats have changed over the years as well but not as much has been done to meats as it has plants to get them 'shippable' all over the world. A banana from 100-200 years ago is not the banana we see today. Most doctors recommend nuts and berries but a handful of walnuts at one time would send us to the other side. I have had one helping of green beans and one helping of mashed potatoes this past Christmas and that was the first vegetable (non animal based food) or anything I have eaten since May 2024. Listening to some I was suppose to kick off that night. What I do agree with is that we are all different and no one plan will fit us all. How I eat may work for some but no way would I think it is the answer for all. I the study is accurate. I'm not eating any of the vegetables but if I were I would want it to be as fresh and as local as it could be and it would be a side dish, not a staple, of my diet. I think anything whole and close to natural is better than processed or ultra=processed. I think the study probably reiterates what most everyone already knows. Scott

Bob, I did for almost a year, because I just couldn't figure out what to make nor how to make it and no, I haven't been ill. My labs are good, my iron was 500, so my doctor told me to lay off the red meats for a minute and I did, it could be my meds. I am not that one that can just create something delicious, I have been searching for recipes, and the ones that I made so far was tolerable but not that great. I am getting back on track, and I need some help on recipes that are tolerable. Thanks for looking out for me my brother. AGAPE

Welcome aboard @Nichole - you will likely be fine. Most people can eat all sorts of eggs, from store-branded white eggs to pasture-raised brown eggs. A factory farm egg from chickens that were fed soy will contain a higher amount of omega-6 fatty acid. The Omega-3 and nutritional profile of a pasture-raised egg is better, but that doesn't make the common egg "bad", per se. If you're doing a carnivore-centric diet to lose weight and you don't think you have food sensitivities, go ahead and keep eating them. If you are doing it to try and reverse it appreciate chronic conditions, then at some point in the future you may want to try switching to pasture-raised eggs, eliminating the egg whites, OR eliminating the eggs altogether. I hope that made sense

Interested in what your search(es) reveal. We are pondering buying a 1/2 cow mid-February. We are going to get a 'sampler-platter of sorts' in a couple weeks. Figure out if it is what we want to do on a larger scale. It is an expensive one time purchase but over the long term it looks like we could save a few dollars. This is from a local that raises and processes their own meats not so much a big company. I am sure there are some difference in the dollars between the two so it will come down to taste, convenience, and cost. Interesting in your opinions on the larger type stores. Scott

I have become fasting's biggest fan. I prefer longer fasts and they fit my work schedule perfectly. It has basically worked out to a 72-96 hour fast on the first week of the month and a 48-72 hour fast the 3rd week of the month, both falling on my night shifts. My last fast was 7 days. Water and some salt, that's it. Although I do have some visceral fat/love handles left to lose the weight loss part of carnivore is now playing second fiddle to the medicinal/metabolic benefits I have experienced. That mindset has sort of merged into my fasting. The weight loss is great but it is not the focal point like in the very beginning. Carnivore has been amazing for me and the combination of carnivore and fasting has been nothing short of incredibly beneficial. Good luck to all during the challenge month. Scott

Though he may not have been there, Bob is not that far from the "Bearded Butchers". They are local to Ohio and have a YouTube Chanel where you can check them out. I have never ordered from them and can't speak for their prices compared to what is available where you live. It does not look like they are any more expensive than other mail order meat companies. From what I can tell, they have a decent variety of meats and bacon. They make their own bacon. I did see this on their website - it may give you an idea of what they offer
