5 pointsI’m nearly 7 mths on carnivore - 2 mths in I went off my blood pressure, cholesterol, type II diabetes meds, no more CPAP machine, full of energy - the best I have felt since I started Keto 6 years ago. Last year, I was hospitalized 4 times for pancreatitis on eating Keto foods, lots of green leafy veg…put on insulin and told had to carry snacks that could prevent going into a coma - started eating keto bars & other keto treats. Insulin was raised from 20ml daily to 80mls in a few mths - felt so sick, shortness of breathe, heart palpitations, severe chest & shoulder pain, doing lots of CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests…no answers given. Told I would be on all these meds for life… I was getting worse and felt terrible - depressed- felt like 2025 would be my last. Started researching, my son found Dr Berry for me, I found Dr Kiltz and started listening to them and their speakers and January 17th, 2025 I started strict carnivore.5 points -

5 pointsAnother thread on how difficult it can be to 'spread the word' or give 'my testimony' on the benefits of eating carnivore. Last night we went to a local bar in a small town not too far from here. One of our friend's has a band and they have since moved to Nashville but are home now for a stretch. Their daughter who is pursuing a solo career in Nashville was home as well and it was a family affair of really good music. Babbling. In between sets or songs, the 'old people' were discussing all their ailments. As each told of their medical issues my wife and eye would make eye contact, and I would have a little smile. Then the next, and then the next. My buddy asked why, so my wife explained I was not laughing at their issues, but it was an inside joke between my wife and me. Every time I hear of someone getting sick, discovering an "aging issue", dieting/weight loss, etc. etc. I say to my wife "Carnivore Diet". To the point now it is a running joke. To show how far it goes last week she came home from work and told me the Jeep's check engine light came on and the engine had a minor stalling at takeoff. I told her it would easily be solved with the 'carnivore diet'. She is about tired of hearing 'carnivore'. LOL Again, babbling on. I was telling our table how many positives I have had with doing not much more than switching my diet. It is a hard sell to tell people that what you eat is only a drop in the bucket compared to the effects of 'what you stop eating'. Strange concept for most. And true to form, my niece had her phone out 'fact checking' just about my every statement. "I can eat all the ribeye I want and drink water, from that I will lose weight and have a better metabolic health?" And when I said YES, our table was fully engulfed. Maybe an hour or so answering questions the best I could, having my niece fact check and report back to the table that I was not near as crazy in the head as I sounded. My wife is on another attempt and she is about 7 days in of eating carnivore/strict carnivore and did the immediate switch to one meal a day (I think it is better to sort of let that happen on its own, but for her I think it is more of a diet hack than a long-term change, so we are rolling with her new plan). As soon as she said she had lost 6lbs in a week the other ladies at the table are all carnivores starting today. Maybe til lunch, or supper, LOL but hopefully they will give it a try. Waiting for the gym to open and passing the time. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Scott5 points -

Carnivore to battle Chrons
4 pointsYes, I have. I had been dealing with for several years and it had got to the point that it was becoming debilitating. Every morning I would spend up to 4 hours curled up into a fetal position in severe pain. It felt like Freddy Kruger doing the iron claw on my guts. After the pain would subside the rest of the day was filled with loose bowels. My gastroenterologist had me on an almost straight grain diet. After 30 days of eating a strict carnivore diet all of my Crohn’s symptoms disappeared. My last appointment with my gastroenterologist I told her I was cured and she said “so the diet worked?” to which I replied “no, your diet was killing me. I started eating a carnivore diet of nothing but fat and meat and now I’m cured.” Her response was, with a haughty tone “well, I guess you don’t need me anymore!” I told her “ no ma’am, I certainly don’t.”4 points

3 pointsWelcome Mrs_newmann86, I'm pretty new here too but I'm not new to carnivore. I'm quite certain that carnivore will completely reverse all of your concerns. I've never had a sweet tooth but regardless, if you eat a bunch of meat, you won't crave food. I was a big chip eater but I haven't eaten any in years. I've come to realize that eating them was fun...associated with relaxing, watching TV and I later learned that junk food was created to make us addicted it. I absolutely HATE being manipulated and once I found that I had been duped, it was easy to say no. I don't know what drives you, but find it and get rid of the sugar. Cancer feeds on sugar...that's a good inspiration! Good luck!3 points -

3 pointsYesterday was leftover a left over T-Bone and eggs, four scrambled. OMAD and the satiety of red meat can be crazy at times. I walked yesterday morning just shy of 3.5 miles with some pushups along the way. I showered and went to the shop working on two old truck projects (needed them like I needed another hole in my head). I worked pretty much all day between the two and then came in around 6PM. I logged on to the internet, let the TV play and looked for more parts for my two trucks. At bedtime around 9PM eating had not crossed my mind since earlier that morning. It is 4AM, on the way to the gym and the morning walk, and not the least bit hungry. 20-ish some hours without eating and I'm not hungry, nor have the wheels fell off. Crazy. Scott3 points -

3 pointsI try to live right and maybe the furthest down the rabbit hole I go to is the punishments for senseless crimes. I pretty much lose my membership to the human race with my views. I would pass a law today that said the platform in which Charlie Kirk will remain in place. The only thing that can be done with that platform is to make sure the overhead structure will hold at least 250lbs of static weight. When the culprit looked down as he swung, as his last breath is drawn, he can look down and the last sight he would see would be the blood he spilled. Just not for Charlie Kirk but there are literally thousands of crimes in our country that I would plug into the above ceremony. This man was killed for exercising his right to free speech. I have watched no telling how many of his videos and probably agree with him the majority of the time. If someone does not believe in homosexuality does not make them a homophobe. If I choose not to acknowledge someone as a pronoun, or them/they, it does not make me a bad person. I believe that person has every right to pursue life in route they choose. I spent six years in the military along side, both before and after, millions of men and women that has afforded us the rights we cherish. I don't believe I have the right to vote to tell other people how to live, even if I don't believe in their particular point of view. We should be able to get along. Thoughts and prayers to Charlie Kirk's wife and two small children. Hopefully they wind up in a better world than their father left. Scott3 points -

Doctors and hospitals
3 pointsI have just had one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. Starting sometime around 8/14, I started feeling weak and tired. I had no appetite whatsoever. This weakness continued on till 8/16 at which time I started to get worried. I took an at home covid-19 test...negative. Things continued to get worse. So I went to the ER in the morning of 8/17. I told them I have lack of energy and dizziness upon exertion and general malaise. So I was brought back and they did some blood work and found I was dehydrated and my electrolytes were out of balance. So they introduced some IV fluids, saline, and within 3 hours I felt much better. I figured that should have ended there, however they pointed out that my troponins were elevated, I don't know how high, they just said elevated.(which is a heart enzyme released when there is damage to the heart muscle) and which can also be elevated for other reasons. I was therefore admitted to the hospital for further testing. They did another ECG, as well as a heart echo cardiogram, and a leg ultrasound, looking for DVT and found nothing of concern. Throughout the night they gave me more electrolytes, saline (sodium), potassium and magnesium. I continued to improve. At one point I stated that I would like to go home, because I felt almost completely normal. No dizziness, no weakness. And that's when things started getting crazy. The doc told me that because my troponins were elevated that he would like to do some more testing and keep me for observation. I declined all of that. And of course he wanted to put me on a statin. I of course declined that as well. So I was signed out AMA (Against Medical Advice). When I was signed out and just about to leave, in walks the cardiologist, telling me how much she cares about my welfare and asks if I could do one simple test just to make sure I'm OK. That would be a quick walk on the treadmill. I agreed. It was a little bit more involved than just a quick walk, but anyway they hooked up these probes to my chest for ECG measurements and took a before picture of my heart with ultrasound. Then walking on the treadmill I got my HR close to maximum, then another after picture was taken with ultrasound. The cardiologist came back in and confirmed what I already knew (after reviewing the before and after ultrasound pictures) that I wasn't going to die of a heart attack any time soon, if at all, ever. I actually used to have a little bit of faith in the medical establishment, but after this last encounter I have lost all faith in doctors and hospitals. They are like a car salesman and I believe they will try to up sell you every chance they can. These are just my opinions and some other individuals have probably had more positive outcomes, but most of mine have been negative with most doctors.3 points

Carny for 4 years and this last year or so has been going great. No MS symptoms to speak of and only slight progression of the disease itself. Blood pressure is averaging 122/78. 3 pointsI part time at a small mom-pop grocery store. And the Mom part of the store got diagnosed with Alpha-gal about three years back. Odd, because she seldom sets foot on any grass. Still, that's what the clinic told her she had. She heard tell of some doctor in Kansas that got amazing results in treating it and she made an appointment. So she went. She got home and said she had to quarantine herself for 24 hours, then she could try a meat. She said she had a pork steak and ohhhh it was so good. Then the next night her husband made beef liver and onions. And that went without any drawbacks. She told me today she had a cheeseburger the other evening and it was soo good. It was like having a Gourmet meal. I'm happy for her and she's in a lot better spirits now. So what they do to her? Well, it's still not clear to me. But The Doctor she saw was an MD/DO. So I'm guessing the DO in his name played a big part. She said he did some muscle testing and poked around with a clicker thing. She was on her stomach. I'm guessing it was kinda the same thing my chiropractor uses sometimes. There wasn't any acupuncture involved. As with one of the other Alpha-gal treatments called SAAT. (Look it up) I'm gonna take a guess there was some Kinesiology involved. I just learned that word from researching Alternative alpha-gal treatments. She doesn't really know what all he did. Just that it has worked so far. I think she's told every other alpha-gal person in the area and I think they're all making appointments. So if you have or get alpha-gal, know that there is alternative treatments for it.3 points -

3 pointsA true carnivore diet would be as close to zero carbs per day as possible. I eat a carnivore diet and will still eat a few strawberries while in season and I will sometimes dip a pork rind into some Smuckers natural peanut butter. No crime in doing that I figure. Even stricter than carnivore would be a lion diet, which is just beef, salt and water. I've done short stints of that one also. Multi day fasts can be very powerful also. That is when I feel my best.3 points

He ate at a fast food restaurant, got on his Harley-Davidson and on the way back to the body shop started losing consciousness and blurry vision. He coasted up into the fire department and laid his bike over at their front door. I think they treated him with epinephrin and then on to the hospital. It took several weeks to identify his trigger. His faded in time for the most part but every so often red meat will cause him issues. I just never heard of it referred to this way. Was sort of lost. Scott3 points -

SALT PORK - Electrolytes - via diet not supplements
I'm a big fan of slated pork as well as fatback and such. I also salt the other foods I eat as well. I missed on the electrolytes early on, simply knowing better, but not doing better. I tried some salt/electrolyte additives but couldn't find one that tasted good enough to consistently buy. I then started to make my own electrolyte mixes at home with some really cheap salts/potassium from the grocery store. From there adding them to water no longer tasted all that good so I used my electrolyte mix as a "table salt" of sorts. If I know I'm going to be outside in the hot working I will add some extra salt, most of the time the day before, but at least that morning. On average all I am getting is what I am adding or from one of the salted pork selections. 90% is thru food, either salted or me salting it. That drops a bit when I do my 4 or 5 day water fasts. I take salt under the tongue followed by water. Scott3 points

3 pointsIf I have a little refined sugar, I find myself wanting to look for ways to slip in a little more here and a little more there. I definitely think there is an addictive aspect to it. An Awakening
2 pointsSo, a conversation with my son, who started me on carnivore for my health. Son: “Dad, why do you eat vegetables?” Me: “Well, because they’re good for you and I like them. “ Son: “Well they’re really not all that good for you but we’ll discuss that in a minute. So let me ask you this. Have you always liked vegetables?” Me: “No, I hated them as a kid but your mother helped me learn to like them.” Son: “Is there any vegetable you can eat without putting something on it or can you eat just like it is?” Me: “No, I don’t think I could eat any of them just by themselves.” Son: “So what do you like to put on them?” Me: “Oh you know, butter, cheese, salad dressing, bacon, lots of seasonings.” Son: “So what your saying is, it’s not the vegetables that you like, it’s what you put on the vegetables that you like.” Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding went the bell in my head. The majority of the toppings that I used on veggies was an animal product or sugary and that was the only way I could make them palatable. My awakening is that if I can’t eat it plain without putting something on it to make it palatable then my body doesn’t need it. As I heard Old Guy Carnivore say, “Food is no longer for pleasure and entertainment but is now for nutrition and health. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

If only I could turn back time and tell them "You have to eat your meat" instead.2 points

Being able to nap again
2 pointsIt can be really weird what happens to the body based on the foods we choose to eat. I came out of the service with the innate ability to turn fifteen minutes into a power nap that felt like several hours long. I rolled out the military into various forms of 12 hour rotating shift work. My ability to power nap was always a go to if I could fifteen minutes (anywhere, any conditions, any amounts of noise-just get still, concentrate and go out like a light) When I took the Supervisor's job in 2015 that all changed. I have nights since where I have done my damn-est to get in ten or fifteen minutes and can't force myself to sleep. Some say it is because I gave up my hourly-paid rotating shift worker membership card when I moved to a salary position. I don't know what happened but I sure do miss that ability. Carnivore for 15+ months and it has had no effects to my lack of ability to nap. Babbling. Bob mentioned carnivore and skin tags and in my brain I could not see any correlation. I have always had them under my arms and even had to have one removed once as it turned and started growing inward to for a pilonidal cyst. I had been on carnivore about a year and looked in the mirror to see the ones under my arm were gone. I had them just about my entire life not eating carnivore and after a year of eating carnivore they are gone. I have looked for information to explain the correlation/correction of carnivore but have not found any. Maybe the biggest lesson I have learned about going carnivore is that we are all individuals and there is nothing cookie-cutter when it comes to us as individuals on carnivore. Scott2 points

An Awakening
2 pointsThe food pyramid has to be the most successful scams in the history of the world. Most of us, if not all, were indoctrinated with so many falsehoods about the way we should eat. My son lost 14-15 pounds in a couple weeks and I gave carnivore a try as the next diet hack. What was appealing to me was eating beef and bacon "as much as I want". That was quite the sales pitch. Imagine, "eat all you want and still lose weight", not exactly a hard sell. I stumbled upon the 'side effects' of carnivore. No pain, no inflammation, off medicine I had been on for years, immune system bloodwork rebounding to normal levels, a sustainable energy throughout the day, and waking up ready to go as soon as open my eyes. (one drawback to waking up ready to go is like right now. I woke up at 3:15AM, felt good, felt like I had slept 'long enough' and I won't be able to go back to sleep. So this morning I will get an early start on the day and when this happens, I feel it later in the day but not to the point of crashing out tired.) Geezy, is your son eating carnivore? Mine has been on carnivore three, nay four times in the last year or so. It lasts for thirty days or so for him. He sees all the benefits, but he and his wife eat out a lot and it can be done but it does have its share of difficulties. My wife gave it a couple three tries, a couple two week stints and then one for thirty. She lost some weight each time, but she likes the vegetables and the variety in her diet. I have mentioned it before, but I think carnivore fits me really well because I was such a boring eater anyway. I don't need variety or spices or sauces or rubs or anything that alters the taste of meats. Forever I was a salt and pepper only, and salt and pepper on everything. As of late I don't care for pepper all that much, so I am a 'meat and salt' guy. I could eat the same thing every day without issue. Scott2 points

Maybe I am cheating a bit, not sure. I use the air fryer. I cut the fat/suet into one inch cubes and put them in the air fryer. The fat renders out nicely and it leaves the crispies in the basket. The fat renders out nicely, the 'fat crispies' taste amazing. The only drawback is that I have found no matter how much I make the 'fat crispies' get gone the same day. I need to figure out how to hide them from myself so I can get a couple days of eating them. We used beef tallow to baste pork ribs with a few months ago and they turned out rather well. Rendering fat for that alone is worth the time....and then there are those crispies all over again. LOL Scott2 points

Has anyone tested Creatine or glycine supplementation for their diet
I'm a huge fan of 'personal health experiments'. At least with these I feel like I am not basing my decisions and conclusions based on someone else's experiences. Other than me being in control I don't see a lo of difference between me doing a 'personal health experiment' and a doctor 'practicing medicine'. Neither one of us know the end result. LOL I have been on all red meat for a month or so now and last night was the time I ate anything other than red meat during that time. Sometimes it is hard to define 'I feel better' or even harder to define 'I feel better'. It is not like I have crazy energy on red meat but I do feel like I am getting more done during the same amount of time as a regular carnivore. I have a 1950 Chevrolet truck in the shop and just bought a 1969 Chevrolet. My overtime has slowed a bit and I have several days the past few weeks working in the shop. Just me, the trucks, the chickens and the dogs all creating 'noise' at the same time. Maybe it is carnivore, might even be the red meat or maybe this much time in the shop listening to the 'music we make' I could be eating corn flakes and cabbage and feel the same. LOL I am super happy with my current path and I am not a 'rock the boat' kind of guy with my health/the way I feel. Looking into the glycine. Thanks for the heads up. Scott2 points

And if they are uncomfortably too hard, add back in a little fat. And then remember we all have times where we splurge, eat something that didn't agree with us, bad meat, or have a stomach virus, etc. We don't always want to jump to the conclusion that every episode of diarrhea must be diet related.2 points -
Has anyone tested Creatine or glycine supplementation for their diet
3 Reasons to Consider Creatine on Carnivore and Animal-Based Diets Creatine is now NON-NEGOTIABLE. If You’ve Never Taken 20g of Creatine, Watch THIS Immediately Creatine may be the most studied performance enhancer ever. Some recent studies show it may not be the performance enhancer it was once thought but the doors for brain health and mental cognizance are wide open. There is some debate within the carnivore community that we get enough by the meats we eat. Probably true for some but I ate more meat prior to carnivore than I do now. Carnivore and the satiety of meat, especially red meat, has killed my appetite so I use creatine pretty much regularly. Scott2 points

Has anyone tested Creatine or glycine supplementation for their diet
I use creatine daily. Forever it was a muscle building supplement but recent studies have shown it serves a far greater purpose for mental/brain health. The water weight is true but not all that meaningful. If I am a pro bodybuilder with a body fat percentage with a bodyfat count in the single digits the amount of water retained is impactful but for the average every day guy, not so much. Timing is not as important as once thought. I do two doses daily to get to 10-15 grams. Scott2 points

2 pointsWe watch for the clearance sales at whatever stores we are shopping at that week. Walmart can have some good deals for clearance, but not their regular meat prices, which are pretty high in our area. Otherwise I'm cruising the ads every week for a sale. We have Qwik-Trip gas station / mini markets around our state and they just had 80/20 for $3.49 a pound. That sale ended today. Their bacon goes on sale all the time for $3.33 a pound. Cream cheese for 99 cents.2 points -
Carnivore diet with budget restriction
1-How can I figure out how much food (and calories) I should eat to lose weight? The rule of thumb is to eat til you are comfortably full and then eat again when you are hungry, then repeat. For me, carnivore works best for me if my first meal is around noon. Some days I eat again at supper time but most of the time I eat again the following day. 2-Should I count calories or follow the eating-to-satiety model, even if it hasn't worked for fat loss? (not after the initial 100 days of the Carnivore diet). I don't count calories as far as a total daily intake goes. However, I have counted protein for the last several months. I'm 56 walk and resistance train regularly. I'm trying to offset normal muscle loss as we age plus the debilitating effects of an autoimmune disease. It is hard for me to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. 3-How do I deal with hunger when eating a carnivore diet with the goal of fat loss? Eat. A lot of times if you are not eating enough your body will respond by storing for another day. You will stall in your weight loss. Snacking is not optimal as it moves your glucose and insulin up and down throughout the say. But if you must, make the snacks as carnivore as possible. A burger patty broken into four sections is four bite size snacks. 4-Would it be possible to lose 12-15 lbs by the end of this year without going hungry? I would say yes. If you are already doing resistance training and a little cardio here and there eating fattier meats should help in the weight loss. Carnivore is a higher fat and moderate protein approach to eating. Once the body becomes fat adapted normally the weight starts to drop with consistency. I added a protein shake to get to a protein mark, but the sugar added to my appetite, and I gained weight. I started carnivore with just weight loss in mind but stumbled upon several life changing positive effects to my health. Losing weight is positive and for most, it is the goal, but the other benefits are just as impactful. Good luck. Scott2 points
