  1. Why does it seem like it is always the PCP that's having a cow, while the specialist is cool with what we are doing? That seems to be a common thread among you, me, and @Geezy Hey, I get it. I was a pot a day drinker at one time. Now I have been zero coffee since July of 2019.
  2. The opposition is still strong, lol. Despite all the success stories, big food and big pharma are there peddling their propaganda because it could affect their $$$$.
  3. Which is predictable. How many of us went on a "diet" throughout our lives, lost weight, and then went off the diet and gained it back. By far the vast majority of us have yo-yo dieted or gained the weight back plus some. These GLP-1 users, if they don't change their eating habits, and stop using the drug will only see the same thing happen to them. This is exactly how it should be used if it is going to be used at all. I have no issue with a low-dose GLP-1 to get someone started, but they have to learn to eat right and commit to not eating the ultra-processed junk foods. The goal being to get off the GLP-1 but then continue to lose or maintain weight with true healthy eating (all natural, mostly ketogenic). It's akin to bariatric surgery. This often results in great weight loss for many individuals. But at the same time many others go back to eating junk, and while they cannot eat as large of a meal, they eat more often throughout the day. I know people who had weight-loss surgery and initially saw success, but are not morbidly obese and dependent on a motorized wheelchair. They just couldn't learn to change their eating habits.
  4. February is American/National Heart Month, and we strongly believe that a carnivore-centric diet, such as carnivore, ketovore, keto, or an animal-based diet is going to keep that ticker of your ticking strong. 5. Inside Robert F Kennedy Jr's controversial diet of red meat and fermented foodsPublished 16:13 2 Feb 2026 GMT The politician has even roped his wife into helping him achieve his diet goalsby Ella Scott Robert F Kennedy Jr, Secretary of Health and Human Services, has never shied away from discussing his controversial diet ideas with the public. Last month alone, the 72-year-old shared new US dietary guidelines, proclaiming that the ‘war on saturated fats’ was over, and presenting the idea that American’s should eat copious amounts of meat and cheese while keeping whole grain consumption to a minimum. Now, the environmental lawyer has defended the eyebrow-raising carnivore diet, claiming it has helped him lose a large amount of ‘visceral fat’. What is the carnivore diet? The carnivore plan is a restrictive diet usually consisting of meat, fish, eggs, seafood, and some more meat-derived products, such as cheese and butter, as per Harvard Health. Shannon Haynes, RD, a registered dietitian at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, explained that the extreme ketogenic grub explicitly restricts carbohydrates, alleging that the body gets its energy by ‘burning fat instead’. “[It’s] supposed to speed up the breakdown of fat, improve blood sugar and decrease inflammation,” she told Hartford Healthcare. However, studies suggest that the carnivore diet can lead to nutritional deficiencies, increase inflammation risk due to the copious amount of red meat consumed, and put stress on the kidneys. Dr Mia Kazanjian, a board-certified radiologist in Connecticut, told Fox News Digital that anyone thinking of embarking on the idea should speak to a doctor first. "As a physician focused on cancer prevention, I recommend a Mediterranean diet, largely plant-based, with whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean proteins, for optimal health and longevity," she added. RFK Jr defends the carnivore dietIn a new interview with USA Today’s Extremely Normal show, RFK Jr has admitted he is ‘on a carnivore diet’. “I only eat meat or fermented foods,” he said, adding that his daily meal plan ‘may not be right for other people’ and that he didn’t want to ‘make [himself] a role model for what people should do and shouldn't do’. As well as claiming to have lost fat by solely consuming meat, animal-based products, and fermented foods such as sauerkraut, the Republican alleged his diet had helped improve his cognitive ability. The politician celebrated his 72nd birthday last month with a plate of steak (X/@HHSGov) "The way I feel, my mental clarity, my word retrieval, I had noticeable improvements, and you can attribute some of that to placebo effect, but I lost 20 pounds in 20 days when I switched to this diet,” he claimed. However, he acknowledged that some of the so-called ‘enormous benefits’ could be put down to a placebo effect. Does the carnivore diet help you lose weight?Yasi Ansari, senior dietitian at UCLA Health Santa Monica, has spoken about RFK Jr’s weight-loss claims. “Technically, it’s possible to lose visceral fat on any diet in the short term," she told USA Today. "Anytime we restrict calories or significantly change the diet, we may see reductions in visceral fat in the short-term.” However, she added: “The long-term health benefits of consuming a diet rich in fibre from whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, chickpeas and lentils − alongside lean proteins − far outweigh the short-term results that may be seen with a highly restrictive, fad diet.” RFK Jr's fermented foodsAs well as tucking into plates of meaty madness, the father-of-six apparently enlists the help of his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, to carry fermented foods around for him. Cheryl Hines reportedly carries around fermented foods for her husband (David Crotty/Getty Images) "I’ll have my little clutch, one of my good bags that I only take out every once in a while because I want to keep them nice, and he’ll hand me a bag of sauerkraut and say, 'Can you put this in your bag?'" the 60-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm star said to The Cut. In January, the Washington DC native celebrated his 72nd birthday with a plate of steak, rather than a traditional sweet cake. “No cake, just steak. Happy Birthday @SecKennedy! We are so grateful for your leadership and determination to Make America Healthy Again,” wrote the official X account for the Department of Health and Human Services. 6. She's been on them since sometime in 2024. Her husband is an investor and member of the board of Ro - a telehealth company... https://www.womenshealthmag.com/health/a65819594/serena-williams-weight-loss-glp1-ro/ She couldn't lose weight after birthing 2 children even though she 'ate healthy and walked 20,000-30,000 steps a day'. Of course, we don't know exactly what she was eating and if it was indeed "healthy". But if this works for her and there are no side effects, then good for her.
  7. A nice milestone for sure. I should send out a newsletter and try and rassle some of them back in here, lol.
  8. That's why I always ultimately return to low carb, keto, and now carnivore. Only carb-restricted diets have ever worked well for me.
  9. This is true because over time a ketogenic diet is naturally satiating. You will feel full longer with nutrient dense fats and protein and hunger cravings will subside when you cut off the addictive carbohydrates. As inflammation goes down in the 8-12 weeks that follow, the body's natural GLP-1 secretions may even increase (although they drop initially). It's important to note that endogenous GLP-1 that is made in your body is not the same as the GLP-1 Receptor Agonists that you get in the medications. The hormone can break down in minutes. The agonist, which is a synthetic chemical, is resistant to breaking down and can last longer (semaglutide up to week).
  10. I can relate. I can go to the gym and lift weights, do treadmill, etc. But the treadmill I bought and put in the room next to my office doesn't get much love, lol.
  11. Moved to the "General Health and Wellness" forum because this topic isn't related to Carnivore Diet Support.
  12. I've had lamb ribs at a restaurant that was on their appetizer menu, but that's it. At the Sam's Club, I often see lamb ribs or giant chucks of leg of lamb and the prices look pretty good. I've only ever tried those little lamb t-bone looking steaks or ground lamb though.
  13. This is true. I often get spam texts and phone calls for lines of credit, health insurance, etc, because I am a business. Yesterday, I got my first spam text offering me GLP-1's at bargain prices, lol.
  14. It's an elimination diet that heals but you have to have been sick enough to have the motivation to stick to it. If you live an active healthy life that consists of eating a variety of foods, then there is no need to restrict yourself like we do. You're right that nobody dies from eating one Snickers Bar. It's a repeated pattern of Snickers overdosing that'll do you in, lol.

  16. Thousands Sue Weight Loss Drug Manufacturers With Serious Harm AllegationsBy Anthony Yates Thousands of people have come forward alleging serious harm caused by GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Those products include Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro. According to a report by USA Today, at least 4,400 people have filed lawsuits since the first was filed in 2023. Those suits are now part of a consolidated federal and state litigation and target two drugmakers: Novo Nordisk, which manufactures Ozempic, and Eli Lilly, which makes Trulicity, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. The companies reportedly said they refute the allegations and will defend the safety of their products. The USA Today report focuses on three troubling cases in the growing lawsuit. 63-year-old Todd Engel was using Ozempic to manage his diabetes. However, he told the outlet that he lost vision in one eye after using the drug for four months. His medication reportedly never came up as a potential cause of his sight loss, and he lost vision in his other eye months later. 72-year-old JoHelen McClain reportedly used Wegovy in November 2023, aiming to shed a few pounds. In March 2024, she heard a noise like a "balloon popping," which she later discovered was the sound of her colon rupturing. USA Today also interviewed Mark Smith. He told the outlet that his wife, 62-year-old Robin Smith, was taking Mounjaro for weight loss. She reportedly visited the hospital twice for vomiting. Her doctor suggested she stop using the drug, but her problems persisted. Days later, doctors diagnosed her with Wernicke's encephalopathy, which the outlet explains is a neurological condition caused by a lack of thiamine or Vitamin B1. It's often linked to malnutrition. The outlet points out that an estimated 12% of Americans use GLP-1 weight-loss drugs and that the plaintiff's account for a small percentage of users. USA Today also cites a 2024 court filing by the two drug companies. They explain that the known risks are reflected in FDA-approved labeling, which the FDA has reviewed more than 40 times. USA Today details a Gallup Study, which claims that the usage of GLP-1 drugs doubled between 2024 and 2025.Chief of Research and Development at the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Ziyad Al-Aly, reportedly stated that no medicine is risk-free. However, he believes the benefits outweigh the risks for most patients. Legal challenges are expected to take several years. 17. Speaking of celebrities, there's Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson. Peterson is pretty loyal to carnivore. I think Rogan is on again off again approach. Mikalia released a video the other day saying she actually has been reintroducing non-carnivore foods and not having arthritis flare ups (after 8 years of Lion Diet).
  18. @pauls - I merged your last four topics about insulin and blood glucose dropping into a single topic. This is a discussion forum, with conversations categorized by discussion topics. Not status updates like on social media. I also moved them from the Carnivore Support Forum over to the General Health forum, since these comments aren't carnivore-specific.
  19. And a man who is 85 years old is likely set in his ways and not likely to change his diet to keto or carnivore. An A1C of 7.4 might be an improvement over what he was at some time in the past. He's probably at 7.4 with the aid of medications. To get it lower without changing his diet or lifestyle, it would require stronger or more aggressive medications which might do more harm than good. In short, the doctor is thinking about not overloading his system with more or higher doses of meds and giving zero thought to diet and lifestyle.
  20. There was one occasion about 5 years ago, I was doing dirty keto and making some progress, that I thought I broke my big toe. I dealt with it for over a month before finally giving in and getting an x-ray which came back as everything was just fine. So in hindsight, it might have been a gout attack. I was dirty keto - plant heavy, and still drinking here and there. I have not had another episode like this since starting carnivore or carnivore-centric keto eating patterns.

Sorry that I am late to the discussion. I just saw this post. I had a similar problem with insane cramps waking me up several times a night. And the thigh cramps were the worst. Drinking saltwater or an LMNT right before bed would sometimes help. I eventually narrowed down my issue. It was a prescription drug that I was taking. I ceased taking the drug and I haven't had to take electrolytes nor have I had any cramps in over a year now.
  22. I'm sitting around 174.4 pounds. I started the month at around 180. So I am happy with these results thus far. The lowest I have ever seen since starting carnivore was 173.7. I'm sooo close, lol
  23. Slow progress is still progress. It's not a race, lol. My initial results were amazing. Dropped the first 60 pounds almost effortlessly over 6 months. Now if I want to shed more, it's going to require some effort on my part.
  24. I don't know the accuracy of this either. I've heard it over the years though. I am inclined to think it's a joke but it would be easy to fact check, lol.
  25. We survived. There was probably 15" of snow on the roofs of the vehicles. Had to snow blow my drive and my fathers twice, once Sunday afternoon and then again on Monday. Now it's another bout of arctic air coming down straight from the north pole. It was -3'F last night. Brrr chilly!
