  1. Regardless of what variation of a carnivore centric diet you may be doing, it is good to remember that we are all on the same team. 5. I recorded most of the speakers and will be publishing them. In the meantime, here are some pictures....
  6. So the next day, on my way to the Columbus Meat-Up, I had to stop 3 times for an emergency use of a bathroom, lol. I think it was the carolina reaper and ghost pepper cheese. I still have some left, so I will be able to test this theory here in a few days. It may be that I have lost my tolerance for tasty hot stuff.
  7. Welcome aboard! Many people experience adaptation/transition/withdrawal symptoms with the first 2-8 weeks. One of these symptoms is unpredictable stools, often toggling back and forth between either diarrhea or a perceived feeling of constipation. Part of the reason for this is the change in your microbiome. The population of carb-loving microbes will drop off. The long term benefits of this will eventually be normal stools (your new normal might be every several days instead of several times a day) and no gas. You have to wait this process out. Be patient.
  8. In the morning I will be going to the Columbus Ohio Healing Humanity Meatup.... https://healinghumanity.movie/event/columbus-ohio-healing-humanity-meatup-august-23rd-2025/ According to the website, Dr. Robert Kiltz, Kerry Mann, Jen Mann, Adam Lacy, Ashley Rogers, Dr. Nelson Vazquez, Ed Coleman, Russ Mitchell, and Robyn Herron will all be there. I bought the VIP pass so I can wine and dine with them afterwards, lol. I might try to vlog the experience.
  9. I haven't heard of him before now. I took a glance at his YouTube page. Judging by the titles of his videos, it does appear he knows a thing or two. I'll have to give him a more in-depth listen. Yes, I use OwnYourLabs.com for almost everything. It's usually the cheapest and they work with Labcorp. So you pay for your labs and they will have a doctor send you a lab order via email which you can print and take to Labcorp. When you sign in, you simply indicate that the service is already paid for. You will need to register a Labcorp account. They will give you your results in your patient portal. UltaLabTests.com is similar. They work with Quest Diagnostics and the results will be seen in your UltaLabTests account. They charge more for most things, but I still use them for my Cystatin C because for some reason it's cheaper there but way too much at OwnYourLabs.
  10. Yes indeed, and it makes a lot of sense. I myself as well as many others are quite capable of reading and interpreting studies on pubmed and other resources and in doing so have been able to 'enlighten' our doctors from time to time, if and when they are humble enough to listen.
  11. Bro! Thank you for these video links. What great resources! I'm going to make use of these in some way for sure. Saved/bookmarked!
  12. I felt like shaking things up tonight, lol. So I had my own chicken fajitas, using Egg Life wraps, with sour cream, Carolina reaper & ghost pepper shredded cheese, with bacon. It was pretty tasty.... and pretty toasty hot too, lol
  13. I'm just curious if you have any other health issues. Metabolic acidosis is often connected to another underlying condition.
  14. What kind of kidney issue? I have stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease. The diet is pretty simple. Eat beef, butter, bacon, eggs, and occasionally seafood, pork, or poultry. Cheese is optional just don't go overboard. The site is like social media, but with subject lines like emails. Think of the various forums as 'categories' or 'groups' or 'folders'. It's just for organization. Don't worry to much about it. We'll move it if needed. Most people go staight to the Activity tab or Unread posts tab anyway and view it like news feed. And congrats @Terry on your 4 year carniversary!!
  15. Ah, now there could be reasons behind both of these. Gallstones -> Bile in your gallbladder was not emptied regularly due to a low fat or fat free diet previously. Stones begin to form. They could be small as a grain of sand or large as hailstones. Now that you are eating a higher fat diet, these are mobilizing and you feel it. If they block a duct, and that pain intensifies, you may need medical help dislodging the stone. Try to save your gallbladder. Kidney stones -> Similar situation, but usually was due to a previously high oxalate diet, as most kidney stones are usually calcium-oxalate stones. Some of these stones can begin to shrink and break down and then get dislodged, and you notice them as they try to pass along.

  17. But will our body recognize it? Seems to me that most ultra-processed man-made foods usually produce either short or long-term consequences. What? lol. Say it with me.... "Butter" That wasn't hard, was it? Oxidize them? Isn't this precisely what we DON'T want to do?
  18. Did you have any organ damage prior to starting the carnivore diet? There is nothing about the diet that would damage an organ, especially in an average healthy individual. I was, and still am, stage 4 CKD since at least 2019. I've never had kidney pain. Been carnivore for 2+ years now. Before I went full carnivore I started a plant-heavy keto and subsequently thought I broke my big toe - but in hindsight I think it was my first and only ever gout flareup. I only bring this up since you mentioned pain in the extremities. But your body literally requires fat and protein, and literally has absolutely zero requirement for carbohydrate. Any quirkiness is usually going to be related to adaptation symptoms, withdrawal, oxylate dumping/detoxing, and ought to be temporary.
  19. I will say that Aldi's has improved a hundredfold in the last decade or so. From what I understand they have been diligently working to improve their image and their product quality. Back in the 1990's, Aldi was akin to Save-A-Lot. But today they are popping up everywhere and I've heard they are the 3rd largest, or 3rd fastest growing, grocer in the U.S.A./World. There's some sort of connection between Aldi and Trader Joe's as well.
  20. This is indeed going to be difficult, which is why an entire electrolyte industry has popped up in conjunction with the surge in popularity of ketogenic, including carnivore, diets. To get your recommended RDA of say, magnesium, you would have to pound down 3+ lbs of beef daily. Very few people do that. I know Shawn Baker, Anthony Chaffee, our resident @Meathead can pull it off. The need for electrolytes seems to happen at the beginning of when you cut the carboHYDRATEs. You spill electrolytes along with all the water. This also contributes to the cotton mouth. Your likely someone dehydrated. This need goes on for up to a year, but many peoples dependence on electrolytes wanes the longer they live this lifestyle. Many veteran carnivores boast about not even using salt. I personally couldn't imagine that. Back in the day, you could get all these minerals from water because we drank from springs. Today, water is processed and every impurity is filtered out and removed, and many of the minerals get removed along with it. If we lived a long time ago, we probably could eat this way without electrolyte supplementation just from drinking springwater. I would try taking advantage of that LMNT and see if it helps. Start with one at night. Maybe add one more in the morning. You shouldn't need more than that. With that aside.... I've noticed this too. Dr. Berry would say that many people's hearts start beating stronger, which is why you notice it more than before. This could be. On the other hand, it could be too low or too high in certain electrolytes. In your case, likely the former, in harmony with your hypothesis.
  21. Those 2 sentences may be more related to each other than you might think, lol.
  22. Carnivore ice cream is a real thing. I enjoy making it once in a while. All fat, zero carbs.
