  1. I’m not sure if I’ve had one or not. When I had my first big AFib attack my cardiologist put me through a battery of tests to see if there was any damage to my heart or if I’d had a heart attack on top of the AFib. They also looked at my arteries for any blockage or buildup. It started with a very thorough sonogram the like of which I’d never experienced before. It was interesting to see the blood flowing through my heart. Then I had a nuclear stress test where they had me wired for sound and walking on a treadmill at a steep angle until my heart rate got up the the numbers they were looking for. I think it was 130 or 135 bpm. As soon as I hit that number the shot me with a radioactive isotope and then did an scan of my heart and arteries. Test came back negative in all regards. No heart attack, no damage, no blockage and no build up. So they said I was clean in my arteries. I don’t know if that has anything to do with CAC but saying my arteries are clean as a whistle gives me a warm fuzzy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I need to post my process in the recipe thread. I think I have finally got it down to my satisfaction. I’ll work on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Lamb steak and lamb burger with butter. Later on while working in my garage I had a little fat snack of rendered fat with a touch of smoked salt on it. The cracklings are my little fat snacks or fat bombs that come from rendering down beef fat for tallow. After I’ve rendered out all of that liquid gold these fat bites are left over and with a little salt they make a good fatty snack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I wish I’d have been your age when I discovered the healing benefits of carnivore. Sounds like you’re doing great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I think there are a couple of different types of chops depending on how the meat is cut. Now I’m not a butcher but I believe standard chops, just like pork chops are taken from a section along the back bone and just above the ribs. The ribs are then cut out for spareribs. If the ribs are not goin to be used as spareribs then the rib is kept in and more meat is attached as part of the chop. You get more meat and a better quality cut. In cattle it would be called the T-bone. If cut further up the spine it would be a bone in ribeye. I may be a little off on my explanation but I think I’m close.
  6. Having done it both ways I’ll say use a dehydrator machine. Much easier and the wife doesn’t get mad that you messed up the oven and it’s probably better on the electric bill and doesn’t add extra heat to the house.
  7. My delicious lamb stew. Lamb meat slow cooked in bone broth. Tender, savory, fatty and totally carb free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I get that then. When I did Adkins 20 years ago that was a common thing to do to shock your system off of the plateau. Since I’m now carnivore I’ve learned that I don’t need and tricks or gimmicks, I just need to keep eating the way I always eat because this is how I’m always going to eat. I hope that makes sense. So it doesn’t matter what happens I’m not going to change my diet because I know that this is about eating strictly for nutrition. If my body wants to stall out then fine. It’s got something that it’s trying to adjust to or it’s reached it optimal weight. My goal was never to lose X amount of weight. It was to become healthy and let my body decide what my best weight should be. I ignored plateauing and just kept on keeping on. Eventually it would decide to drop some more pounds. These stalls might last two weeks or even a month. No big deal when your eating for optimal health and nutrition. For the last three months I’ve been at the same weight of 172 average. That’s lighter than I’ve been since high school over 50 years ago. So three months with no change I figure that’s it. I’m optimal. This morning I was at 169. Lol, I guess it may not be over just yet. You see, I am 330 days carnivore and have not strayed from my WOE and never will. I just can’t ever see myself eating and kind of sugar, seed, grain, seed oil or vegetable. They just don’t have any nutritional benefits for the human body so they don’t need to be in my diet. Now with that all being said, I drink a hot bulletproof tea in the morning and I will sometimes use a spice, onion or garlic for flavoring but it’s in very limited amounts and doesn’t cause my body harm. I’m not saying any of this to say you’ve done anything wrong or to seem like I’m looking down on you I’m just trying to tell say that you don’t need to trick your body, you just need to be consistent. Be committed to this and try not to treat it like a weigh loss diet but rather a lifestyle. Good luck on your journey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I don’t understand cheat days myself but congrats on breaking your plateau. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. This is fascinating. Recently I’ve been hearing bits and pieces here and there of dental hygiene and carnivore. Dr. Chaffee has mentioned it several times. I’ve heard some carnivores talk about going to the dentist and not having any plaque build up. I think I remember that Egyptian mummies we found to have terrible teeth and since they were basically, from what I understand, the founders of the agriculture era it would make sense. I have terrible teeth due to having seven teeth broken in a car accident and the rest all stress fractured. I’ve got one molar, top and bottom, both sides left. There of them are gold crowned. I’m doing my best to hang on to them. I’m really hoping that carnivore will help in that regard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. You are thinking of this in the wrong ratios I believe. The idea is to get 75 percent of our calories from fat and the rest from protein. So it’s about percentage not volume or mass. Fat is higher in calories than protein so it’s not a balancing act of the meat vs fat but of the calories consumed. Generally if you are eating a fatty meat and cooking it in fat you will get the proper ratios. If the meat is lean then you may need to add fat to what you’re eating. When I eat something like chicken which is too lean I’ll add a lot of butter to it. Hamburger, even high fat hamburger I’ll add butter to it because most of the fat cooks out of it. Lean cuts of beef will also get plenty of butter or I’ll make my carnivorous steak sauce. If you want to be able to get a better idea of the fat to protein macros you could download and app such as Carb Manager and it will give you an good scale by which to measure what you are doing. 12. Ever wonder about the differences in between grass feed and grain feed. Here’s a good breakdown of ribeyes from bison, grass feed beef, grain finished beef and Wagyu beef. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Y’all are lucky because I’ve got to fight my wife for it. She’s a bigger liver eater than I am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Agreed. I’ve been criticized for not being a carnivore because I’ll eat some dairy now and then or use spices occasionally but I’m not a purist nor a nazi. Eating something that is not meat occasionally as long as it doesn’t bother you and as long as it’s not an everyday thing does not hurt anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Exactly! ^^^^^ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Good deal. Yeah I love liverwurst and my recipe isn’t exactly carnivore clean but it’s delicious and doesn’t seem to bother me physically so I indulge but sparingly. I have made this with calf, beef, bison, lamb and venison liver. They’ve all been great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I’ve only experienced depression one time in my life. It lasted three days and I got over it by getting my butt up and going to work and stopped having a pity party. I’m a man with responsibilities to my family and that overrules anything else. So I really can’t relate to what your going through but there are a ton of people in the carnivore community that have cured all kinds of mental disorders as well as depression. So judging by the results from other carnivores you should probably keep going with eating carnivore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Welcome to my world Bob. Love some good lamb. Just a smoked ham and sharp cheddar omelette. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Well I guess that’s been my problem all along. I don’t know squat because I can’t squat. [emoji13] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Welcome Adam. In my opinion this WOE is first and foremost a healing diet to help us get metabolically healthy. You are experiencing that now. Weight loss is a side benefit. A wonderful side benefit but still a side benefit. It’s also quite common to loose inches with little to no weight loss. Sometimes it takes a little time for our bodies to to transition over to being fat adapted and loosing the weight. I have been at what my body chose as my optimal weight for three months now but I am still loosing inches or maybe I should say millimeters since it’s very slow. I’m not too far from going to the next hole in my belt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Doesn’t sound like a rant to me. Just sounds like a man asking for advice. You’re cool. Generally in the beginning of carnivore we deal with about three to four weeks of diarrhea as our gut biome adapts to just digesting protein. But constipation does happen often as well. I don’t have a gallbladder and I have no idea if that’s why I deal with constipation or not but it can get really bad for me at times so hears what I do. I started out upping my fat intake as Dr. Chaffee recommends. I start my day with one cup of bulletproof tea. I cook everything in butter, ghee, tallow or bacon fat. If the meat I’m eating doesn’t have a lot of fat on it I’ll add butter to it. I don’t know how I can do more but it didn’t help. I added LMNT electrolytes, didn’t help. Then I started taking magnesium citrate. That helped but turned the consistency to peanut butter. Better but not pleasant to deal with. Then I switched to a magnesium complex and it helped a bunch. If I take it every day I’ll have a loose BM just about every day. If I take it every other day my BMs will slow down to every other day or every third day. Now with all of that being said I what you to be aware that just because you aren’t going every day may not mean your constipated. Because we no longer eat fiber we don’t have that bulk in our intestines pushing things along. The majority of the meat we eat with be used by our bodies and there’s very little waste left over so many people will only have a BM once a week or so and then is small. If it’s hard a gravelly and just really hurts to get out then yeah, that’s definitely constipation. I hope this helps and good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. You are going through withdrawals. Just like an alcoholic or a junkie. You are addicted to carbohydrates. You can either quit cold turkey and deal with it like I did or you can reintroduce some low glycemic carbs and wean yourself of slowly. The nice word for it is keto flu. It may last for just a few days or even a whole month. The only thing I really experienced was diarrhea as my gut biome changed over and that lasted a month. Lots of videos that talk about the withdrawals and how to deal with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil and when diesel prices got so high people where going around to restaurants and fast food joints and collecting their used oils and making diesel fuel from it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
