Hello everyone, hope you're well.

I'm going to be starting carnivore tomorrow, once i've gone to the butchers and stocked up.  I did keto for a year (i fell off last Christmas unfort. ) and i felt really good on it, so looking forward to trying this.

A question if anyone reads this and knows the answer, please. I see a lot of people are eating burger patties.  Are these home made ones?  Because the ones from the butcher contain rusk, which i assume is bad?  Or is it likely a small enough amount not to be off issue?

Thank you for any replies.

Welcome Tom. We are glad to have you here.
I had to look up what rusk was and apparently it’s a hard, dry biscuit. I’m sorry they use that where you live but here in the states the majority of all burger patties sold commercially in restaurants and fast food joints are 100% beef with no fillers. The worst thing we might have to deal with is the patties being cooked in seed oils.
The majority of the carnivores I come across make their own burger patties and only occasionally eat them from a restaurant. I’ve only done it once when on a road trip.
If you are not sure of the purity of what you are eating then by all means cook your own.

Thank's for reply Geoff.

Ah thats a bit annoying, i guess i'll have to make my own then because they all seem to have that in over here, even in the supermarkets.

It good and very important that you read the labels on anything you buy. At least over in the UK your labels are more trustworthy than ours are.
Keep us posted on your progress and don’t hesitate to ask for help. We’re here to support you.

Welcome.

I too had to look up rusk as well. LOL

I use hamburger form the grocery store about half the time and the other half I make it myself. If the chuck meats are on sale or any meat at a good deal I try to stock up. From there I buy some beef fat and grind my own, usually about 60/40 meat to fat. occasionally I will grind up bacon with it for a little twist.

Good luck and post your successes. Great support group here.

thanks mate good idea.

Tell me that name you use for your avatar is a Joe Abercrombie reference and we'll get along just fine. The best grim dark fantasy ever made.

"body found floating by the docks?"

yes it is!  I also have 9 fingers as well, but its my fav book series.

The bloody nine...

Other than Robin Hobb, Robert Jordan, Peter V Brett, one of my favorite fantasy authors. I think I read all nine books (The Blade Itself), but somehow I feel like the series should be continued, some open ends here and there. I recommend The Demon Cycle by Peter V. Brett, 5 books all together. Anyways, enough geeking out and rerailing the threat.

I've read Hobb and various other big names like Brent Weeks etc too.  Not read Brett though i'll give it a look.

If you've not tried it listen to the blade itself audio books.  The best narrator i've ever listened to, basically what got me into it.  He does amazing voices for all the characters and really brings them to life.

Thats a cool picture. Did you read the comic they put out?

I did not read the comics, I make a point of it not to see what I read, whether it be a graphic novel or series on TV.

As for Peter V. Brett, The Demon Cycle starts with The Warded Man and is quite dull the first few chapters, but you'll get rewarded pushing through it. I read 99% of the books unless the situation arises where I can listen to them. Right now I simply do not drive enough lol.

Sand Dan Glokta is my favorite character in the Abercrombie series though, I know, weird.

Let's get the thread back on track, lol.

Hey Tom @Logan9fingers - How is the carnivore diet going for you?

I don't think I've ever come across "fillers" in my groudn beef/minced meat here. Even our fast good burgers are usually 100% beef. We do find fillers in processed meats, like beef sticks and jerky, so you have to read labels to get the cleanest possible.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
