I've lost weight in sedentary lifestyle.

CICO is BS.

Like chargermopar stated, said amount of food contained said calories, then he showed diesel fuel with the same amount of calories.  Drinking said diesel should work right? Both contain same amount of calories just different mass 🤣

I have yet to gain weight from eating too much, usually about 1lb of meat with 6 eggs daily.  Sometimes more sometimes less.

On top of calories cannot be burned. It is a rough/poor estimation of energy output. One would need to severely cut food intake, which is detrimental to your health eventually, missing out on nutrients you need on a daily basis. Nutrients that can be found in meat by the way.

I have lost a lot of weight with Carnivore. I can remember the plates I ate in the past. I never measured calories, neither the morphed definition nor the scientific definition. However, the plate was full and like some restaurants, I could measure it by the pound.

I look at my plate now and the poundage is far less. I could go as far as to say I was eating by the pound back then and now I eat by the ounces.

On the poundage plan I moved from the 200's to as much as 319-320. On the ounces plan I have moved the needle from 306 to 220.  One plan is not very efficient as it took 15+ years to move up due to the inefficiency of carbohydrates as energy, both used and stored. Fats being very efficient when comparing the 9 calories per gram vs. the 4 grams for both carbs and proteins. I moved the same needle in the opposite direction for the same distance in 8 months.

That would be a deficit in intake. It is also known that if you have as much as 5% bodyfat you have hundreds of thousands of "calories" to use (fat adaptive/ketosis/ketones) for energy, so technically unless you are near true starvation, very few people are remotely close to being "in deficit" even if there is deficit in intake compared to a different span.

One is just a hop, skip and jump to the other.

The easiest way to prove the fallacy of the CICO theory is to compare the different between two different foods.
Eat 2,000 “calories” of steak and eat 2,000 “calories” of doughnuts and see the effects.
I think you’ll find that it’s not “calories” that matter but what those “calories” are made of.

Agreed.

I can go even one step further. I can eat said 2000 "calories" of chicken or pork and then 2000 "said calories of red meat" and see/feel a difference.

I think what throws people off is that all calories are the same as calorie is just a term for a chemical energy conversion. For the masses, and probably us too for the majority of our lives, measured all foods 'equally' in calories. Thus, cutting calories has been the fallacy for a really long time.

I could change the numbers in your example and feel the difference/see the difference in 2000 steak 'calories' vs. 500 'calories' of doughnuts. My 'caloric intake' would be dropped but one vs. the other is polar opposites.

Exactly. We must consider the biochemical, hormonal, glycation, and inflammatory response. Yes you can lose weight on twinkies, but you can't keep it.

Not totally from left field....but close.

rendering the sense of fats - Mushing

Endurance athletes are starting to discover carnivore and finding that they have more sustainable endurance than before.
The study in that article was sounding pretty good until he started taking about the dogs not being able to maintain endurance on a high fat diet but towards the end it all started making sense when he mentioned that some of the fats they were using were seed oils and fruit oils. Yeah, those ain’t fats, they’re oil. Not the same thing and probably the reason for their poor results.

Yep. The jist of the story was the dogs from hundreds of years ago were posting times faster (and another story indicated the dogs lived a longer working life-still pulling in what is now considered their later years) and recovered quicker than dogs on today's carb loaded commercial dog foods. (foods that were specifically designed for performance (and convenience) by humans. Hundreds of years ago the pulling/sledding dog's diets were primarily whale fat and whatever leftover meats.

Fast forward a couple hundred years and turns out the sledders back then didn't know as much but fed better. Add in some really smart people and the dogs took a step backwards in appearance, performance and working life.

Now look at the food pyramid that we were all taught for ever how many years. Now compare that to the carnivore approach when we were originally designed to walk for distance, throw a spear/chunk a rock, run down an animal and eat it til we were fat, dumb and happy. Then repeat when no longer fat, dumb and happy. Then infuse some really smart people. They skipped right over the walk-throw-run-eat meat part and got us all over to fat, dumb and happy.

But these two fat, dumb and happies are nowhere close to the same.

Now that we have all these apps,I´m tracking macros and calories -but only to make sure I´m eating enough, and not too much of protein.

20 years ago in my first keto (it was lo carb and "Warrior" back then), I was learning macros and tracked, too. I ate 3000-4000 kcal dinners with wine and lost fat,was in great shape.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
