I’m starting to think I can’t do carnivore without herbs and spices. I need ginger and black pepper, turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and more

every once in a while I need to visit Flavor Country

I can honestly say that I have zero 'fears' regarding my Carnivore Journey.  I am a Scientist by University training, so I am approaching this as an experiment.  Most formed hypothesis fail, and you take your "learnings" and form a new hypothesis and test it.

That's my approach here.

But honestly, today is Day#13 and this morning I woke up feeling hungry, but fantastic.

It's not a big deal to use spices. Unless you're really sensitive to carbs, oxalates, phytotoxins, etc.

Most of us do some spices occasionally and it’s no big deal as long as your body tolerates them. Some people react to some seasonings and spices.
When I first went Carni I was very strict with everything because I needed to heal my metabolism so I only used salt and white pepper. I found that the longer I went without the seasonings and the longer I ate carnivore the better my food started tasting. After a year I started using some seasonings but on a limited basis but for the most part all I really want these days is just salt.

I just eat salt. A few weekends ago I used some of my wife's BBQ sauce and it didn't taste as good as I remember. It has some sugar and I wonder if that what didn't taste the same.

I just use salt now. For whatever reason flakes of pepper stick in my throat now and I cough like all get out if I use pepper. Crazy, and I know why that happens.

All salt for me.

Interesting video/interesting thread.

I dove in head-first to lose weight. I had no idea there would be other benefits other than simply 'not eating crap'. I have not taken medicine since late May early June of last year.

Some use carnivore as a cleanse/elimination diet and then start re-introducing sugars and carbs slowly.

I am on the other side of the 'fear' in this video. I have not taken medicine for a life-long auto immune disease, and I don't know which particular plant or sugar, or which combination of the two triggers my issues. My 'fear' would be re-introducing something to induce that trigger and then maybe carnivore 'can't' fix it next time.

Kind of a stretch, and maybe not even a fear, maybe even a newfound respect for the power of the plant (or the fat/meat-depending on perspective).

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
