I would like to entitle this thread tooth and gum and mouth health. I just ordered some Zellies after reading the ingredients of Trident. One of the ingredients is bioengineered food ingredient.  I find that rather spooky.  Anyway this thread is about if you have had good experiences with Xylitol and tooth health.

I have no experience with it myself as I don’t chew gum but supposedly Xylitol is derived from natural sugars but doesn’t cause blood sugar spikes and has no calories.
I know that for those of us that avoid all sugars a sweeteners anything sweet has the potential to kick off a craving for something sweet.
If that wouldn’t bother you then you could always give it a try and see if it affects you. If it does then it’s easy to just stop.
As carnivores we often come across things that are not pure carnivore but if they don’t affect our metabolism or put on weight then it’s really no big deal. I’m pretty strict in my diet but I do allow indulgences now and then. I’ll still eat some jalapeños once in a while.

Some dentist are pretty big fans.  supposedly it can lower acidic ph levels in the mouth, and a create a healthier biofilm on the teeth.  There is a dentist elli phillips on youtube I'm going to follow her advice until my next dental checkup.  Funny the only sweets I've had the last month, were two small cookies and 5 minutes after eating them my stomach felt like a rocket was trying to launch inside.  Other than that I've had a couple small servings of strawberries and blueberries with no additional cravings.  I guess Im the lucky one.  I do enjoy a small glass of whole milk on occasion.

I use xylitol gum and mints a lot. One, because I like them and that's my only "cheat" and two because I dance Argentine Tango a few times a week and I want my breath to smell fresh, and three because it's supposed to be good for teeth and gums. I use Spry brand that I get on Amazon.

I have heard from many carnivores that have abstained from all sweets for a long time that the first time they eat something sweet that it is overpowering to them in the sweetness.
It’ll be interesting to see how it affects you.

I just had Zellies gum today and compared to trident its hardly sweet. I think 1 gr. of xylitol per piece. Myself It didn't make me want to eat a cake or anything. Im chewing it because its suppose to help with mouth health. I guess Ill know in 6 months.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
