2 weeks in, stress thru the roof

Some background on me. 52 yo male, height 5’10”, current weight 155 (prior to carnivore 2 weeks ago was 159), body fat 16.5-17%. In good health generally, have been eating organic/whole foods/mostly paleo for 16 years. No processed or junk foods or sodas for 16 years. Propensity for high LDL (small particle) and high ApoB when on high saturated fat (have ApoE gene). Raised our own grassfed/finished beef and eat it everyday day for 12 years. Prior to carnivore, typical carb intake around 30% macros on a 2400 calorie average. Have several severe food allergies, so on very limited diet already prior to carnivore.

Over the years been developing mildly higher insulin resistance. And increasing inflammation. So after researching carnivore decided to try it.

2 weeks in: stress levels (both felt and on oura ring) 4x worse than before. HRV tanked. Energy tanked. Cortisol up. Yes I’m doing huge amounts of electrolytes and salt. Basal temps tanked. Eating as much as I can till full. Fasting waking glucose now 105-115, before was 85-90. Inflammation still same. Lost 4 lbs, bodyfat % stayed same, assuming this is water loss.

I already have a stressful life with a business I own/manage and a farm to manage along with a large family and all that goes on there. As with my past attempts at keto (same thing happened with keto too), I end up quitting because I can’t function with all I have going on and try to keep pushing thru hoping somehow I’ll adjust.

If anyone has any advice I’d sure appreciate it. 🙏

Welcome me to carnivore talk daddy.

Man, that’s a lot to digest. I’ve come across a few people that had some issues in the beginning but yours tops them all. As with most people who struggle in the beginning it could be that you just aren’t fat adapted yet and need to stick it out longer. You also may need to add some healthy carbs back in and transition slower.

I hope you can turn this around.
