  1. Last night we were invited over to my son's girlfriends house by her father to watch the Superbowl. The dad had made italian sausages in the crockpot, simmered in a tomato based sauce, which I enjoyed with a fork since I won't touch the hoagie buns. The girl made a buffalo chicken dip, which I had with pork rinds since I don't do potato chips or corn chips. My wife brought a fruit tray with strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon, with which I did enjoy some berries. Cantaloupe and honeydew melon are nasty though, lol.
  2. Dark mode is coming soon in a future update. Invision Community 5 has just been released, which I will upgrade to eventually. I usually like to wait for a few updates to come first because there are always some bugs to be ironed out in the beginning... https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/475779-invision-community-5-dark-mode-accessibility-performance-and-mobiles/
  3. Welcome aboard. I may not have seen the other thread/topic yet, but I just wanted to add that much of that initial weight loss may just be water. When you eliminate carboHYDRATEs from your diet, you lose a lot of water weight up front.
  4. Welcome aboard. Barring other health conditions, in general the BP should come down. Mine came down a significantly, but I still take my meds because my BP can run high due to my chronic kidney disease. Regarding cardiologists, you might just have to be upfront about it. "I'm on a very meat-centric diet, which I have put in a significant amount of time studying and researching, and I am committed to sticking to this lifestyle for the rest of my life. I am looking for a doctor who is open to working with a patient like me and honor my choices, and wish to avoid someone who's strongly entrenched feelings of veganism or a plant-based diet might cause a conflict of interest between us. Would you be that doctor?"
  5. I am curious what these 5 stages may be.
  6. Nice find. I'm watching it now and saving it to a playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLG8aHuvpCCtm2--xeQaPU6gYWBPsQJEPN If anyone wants to collaborate and add other documentaries to the playlist, let me know.
  7. Yesterday we went to Texas Roadhouse and I got the sirloin and shrimp combo. The 8oz sirloin was cooked to perfection, totally moist and melted in my mouth. I may cook a good steak, but not this good. I needz to know their secrets, lol.
  8. I had a busy week so I am doing some catching up, but intermittent fasting has been a success. I've managed to not eat until noon or 1pm each day, and then have dinner around 7-8pm. When I eat, it has to count though. If I have something small for my first meal after not eating for 16+ hours it doesn't satiate me for long and I am ravenous. When I practice IF, I have to eat bigger meals.
  9. It's been a while since I've practiced any fasting. I've done a few 24 hour fasts, and my longest was 40 hours. But my goal for February is to reintroduce intermittent fasting. Tea keeps me satiated. I bought a new tumbler and plan to sip hot tea from the time I wake up until lunch time at work.
  10. Hi Angela. This was way back in December 2023, over a year ago, which was the last time I had Covid. I'm just a little confused here. You quoted yourself and then responded to yourself. Who are you talking to? đŸ˜„ I just want to make sure you account hasn't been compromised.
  11. Well, my health took a turn for the worse. My kidney function has deteriorated rapidly. But is my carnivore diet to blame? Or, is it something else? Am I headed for dialysis, a transplant, or death? Or is there a way I can undo this damage? I discuss all of this and more in this video - which is an addendum to my previous Triglycerides video where I had gave my support for a regimen that I now think is harmful. And in the meantime, let's continue the conversation in this new FASTING FEBRUARY topic...
  14. Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it! For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping). An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner. If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol. Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk. Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming. Let's keep our resolutions going strong!
  15. It's now February 1st, and any further comments on this post do not count as entries. I will tally up all entries and share them shortly.
  16. The news media is blaming the Carnivore Diet for a man from Tampa, Florida, who developed xanthelasma, a condition where yellowish, fatty deposits form under the skin. His alleged diet was admittedly extreme, which involved consuming 6-9 pounds of cheese on a daily basis, as well as multiple sticks of butter, and hamburgers with extra fat mixed in the minced meat. Apparently his cholesterol levels skyrocketed to over 1000 mg/dL, significantly higher than the normal level of less than 200 mg/dL2. Is this story true? Could other underlying conditions be at the root of his xanthelasma? Was he REALLY following a true carnivore diet? Is the carnivore diet safe and beneficial. We touch on all these questions and issues in this video. JOIN OUR FREE KETO/CARNIVORE COMMUNITY! https://www.CarnivoreTalk.com WE DO GIVEAWAYS AND PRIZES EVERY MONTH! LET"S DO A VIDEO TOGETHER! 18. Welcome to the tribe!
  19. Welcome aboard Lauren. Your still relatively new to the way of eating, even after 3 weeks. The adaptation/transition period, characterized by the unpredictable back and forth between feelings of constipation and diarrhea, and lethargy is typically 3-6 weeks. It was almost 2 months for me. Even then, fat adaptation takes time. When I started the carnivore diet I had a broken ankle, so I was sitting around and napping often anyway, so I can't say if I experienced the same thing. Carb Manager is a handy app and it is free to download and use on a smart phone (at least on Andriod). You can track your calories (not so important) and macros with it to be sure. You want to aim for 30% calories from protein, 70% calories from fat, and 0% (-ish) calories from carbs. This can be accomplished with a 1g of fat per 1g of protein ratio. Your menu looks alright but I would double check the cottage cheese, cream cheese and homemade buffalo sauce for any hidden carbs or sugars. Congrats on your first 10 lbs. Is it your aim to lose weight?
  20. Welcome aboard Manuel! This is good. Glad to hear it! If you're in a northern climate like me, it could be the cold. January is being brutal to us this year where I live. My lipped are chapped. My legs itch from dry skin, etc. Also remember that you initially lose a lot of water and water weight, because you are not consuming carboHYDRATEs. This is why a lot of us drink a little extra water and take an electrolyte supplement in the beginning of our carnivore journey. You might want to consider doing the same to ensure that you are not dehydrated or mineral deficient. This could be. When I was obese I had smooth skin because of the fat in my face. When I lost the weight, I got wrinkles, lol.
  21. Yes, Dr. Berry's comments need to be taken in their context. He is saying that you can do a carnivore diet even with cheap cuts of meat, including hot dogs, and still see the beneficial effects. Meat is meat, and some hot dogs actually contain nutritious bits of meats that often get tossed out or overlooked, such as organ meats. At the same time, you have to look at the ingredients lists, and many cheap hotdogs contain fillers, seed oils, cornstarch, etc. And yes, he is contrasting a "hot dog and bologna" diet with that of a standard American diet of cookies, cakes, pasta, pies, chips, snacks, etc. The cheap meat-based diet is the better alternative and might improve your health. BUT... he's not a strict carnivore. He advocates what he has coined as "The Proper Human Diet" which is a spectrum of carnivore on the one end, and up to 100g of all-natural carbohydrate on the other end, depending on your personal physiology. That's why I talk about a "carnivore-centric" diet here, because I am willing to acknowledge that while human physiology definitely favors that of a carnivore, we still designed and equipped to handle some vegetation, and have been eating plants just as long as we've been eating meat and breathing air.
  22. I believe this is a massive factor - removing the processed junk food - those that contain the unholy trinity of grains, seed oils, and refined sugar. I've heard it said that if you just shop the perimeter of the grocery store, where there only natural meats, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables, and avoid the center of the store, where there is pasta, cakes, cookies, pies, chips, bread, etc, then you will fair well. In general, I agree with this, while at the same time acknowledging that certain individuals may have unique needs and circumstances that require them to be even more strict.
