  1. If you're not interested in weight loss, you don't need to be as zero carb as possible, and therefore some raw milk is still an animal product, and you could enjoy it. I found a local connection for some near me, but I haven't approached him yet because I am still in the 'would like to lose some weight' phase of my life, with just another 10 pounds to go, lol. After that, I will probably incorprorate some raw milk into my diet on occasion. I was never much of a milk person to begin with.
  2. Made this for dinner the last night.... My name is Bob, and I approve this message
  3. I was the same way with Diet Coke. I had to go out and buy some and have it in the fridge, even if I didn't open any and drink them, they HAD to be there. I couldn't go a night knowing they weren't there, lol. I no longer stock diet coke. I only get once in awhile when I'm out. But the reason for this was my kidney disease. My phosphorous numbers would run high, so I started drinking other soda's and bubbly drinks that don't contain phosphoric acid.
  4. It might, until the sugar in the honey is metabolizes and then you will be back in ketosis. As far as how strict... as strict as you want it to be, or as strict as you need it to be. So if you have no weight to lose and no health issues, you could be a little more relaxed. I would look into Dr. Berry's "Proper Human Diet" which allows UP TO 100 carbs/day of whole, single ingredient vegetables. Or, look into Paul Saladino's "Animal Based" diet, which eliminates vegetables but allows for some fruit and honey. OR, combine the two philosophy's together, and eat any single ingredient whole food whether it's fruit or vegetable but stay under that 100g of carbs (or 50, or 20, or 10, depending on how low carb or keto you want to go). BUT, you say you want to heal your skin issues. With that said, I would go strict carnivore - beef, butter, bacon, eggs, chicken, shellfish, seafood, butter, ghee, tallow, and cheese if you can tolerate it, for at least 90 days. Some people, like Mikaila Peterson, had to go strict beef, water, salt, and nothing else, in order to heal her issues. Even Paul Saladino was a carnivore for a couple years to heal his eczema before attempting to add back other foods. By slowly adding back certain foods, he was able to determine which foods triggered flare ups, and avoid them. That's basically the same pattern you want to imitate. The occasional sweet treat might actually contain something that irritates your skin. It's going to take an elimination diet and some time to try and narrow down your personal culprit.
  5. <-- Still an occasional diet soda drinker. It's the acesulfame potassium in it that might trigger an insulin response. Saccharin and Sucralose also raise insulin. Believe it or not, Apartame does not, but then again it has been shown to alter gut bacteria.
  6. It's the same with the LDL - which is stored in your adipose tissue and gets released into the blood stream as you lose weight. This is in addition to the saturated fat you are now eating but weren't eating before. LDL goes up dramatically. But after remaining weight stable for about 6 months, it should return to baseline (which may even be your "new normal", now that your dietary habits have changed).
  7. Awesome Steve! Welcome aboard. Keep doing what you're doing. You know this works when you stick to it. You proved it all those years ago, and you are proving it again right now
  8. My point was that in proportion to how long a single animal could keep you fed, the organs are small in comparison. After eating the heart and liver, there's a lot of muscle meat still to go.
  9. Awesome for your hubby. Typical for the doctor, lol.
  10. To me this would make sense, since they are incorporating more animal products, even if a little, into their diet.
  11. Last night it was burger, eggs, and shredded cheese all mixed together with some seasonings and salt. Simple, but delicious.
  12. I'm down here between Kent and Akron, just outside the snowbelt. Hudson seems to be the dividing line. I can leave my house and start driving up Route 8 North, and right about where the turnpike begins there it will go from no snow to god-awful amounts of snow, lol I'm not big on organ meats. I think they can be eaten from time to time, but shouldn't be a daily staple. Ancient man didn't go around eating kidneys and livers every day, lol.
  13. Only you can determine that if your condition is severe enough to warrant an ambulance in order to get immediate medical care. What do you mean by not feeling well like your going to pass out? Have you done any research into the "keto flu"? It's not really a flu or virus, but it's the wonky nickname we've given to the sick and fatigued feeling you might experience when switching to a extremely low carb, keto, or carnivore diet. To put it simplistically, your body is used to running on carbs. It WANTS to run on carbs, but you're not giving it carbs so it has to start running on fat. There's a transition/adaptation period after you run out of your carb stores and start utilizing fat more efficiently. It lasts a few days for some, and a few weeks for others, but it does go away.
  14. I will probably reach out to one or two individuals privately. Seniority, activity on the forum, and commitment to a carnivore-centric way of eating will be some of the heavier factors that are given consideration. If you have an interest in being a moderator (basically, either approve first-timers posts OR hide them and mark Users as spammers) you are more than welcome to PM me.
  15. While I want to defend myself here, you are right, lol. I have yet to be able to kick artificially sweetened beverages completely. I'm still zero sugar, zero carb, and yes I drink a heck of a lot of plain water each day, but I still enjoy my morning tea, occasional sugar-free lemonade, and a soda from time to time.
  16. Thank you. I've got a couple other topics that are also lengthy left to do, but I think I am gonna switch gears and make some shorter, easily digestible videos next.
  17. Hey Larry @ljimd, I just notice that you're a fellow Ohioan, along with @Orweller and myself. Some long-term carnivores have found themselves low in folate, which could make you feel fatigued. There is folate in animal foods to varying degrees, so if you are eating enough, you'll be fine. If you're a light eater, then occasionally adding some beef liver (good) or chicken livers (better!) will bring those levels back up.
  18. I've never done the leave meat open in the fridge thing. I've seen Chaffee talk about it.
  19. . Have your triglycerides gone UP while on your carnivore or ketogenic diet? Are you constantly being told by carnivore zealots/purists/police that you must be doing something wrong, sneaking carbs, cheating, or lying about your eating habits, even though you KNOW you are doing everything correct? Are you worried that you've been lied to about the benefits of beef, butter, bacon, and eggs, or that you've been "had" by the Lion Diet? Yes, it's true that for most people, they see their trigs plummet to beautiful low levels. But some of us see ours go up.... sometimes WAY UP! This happened to me, and I explain why in this video. 21. Glad to hear your kicking all sorts of habits. Have you had any blood work done lately? If you search for "reasons for high blood pressure" you see there can be a variety of reasons, with 'underlying health conditions' being one of them. For example, I still take blood pressure meds. My BP has come down considerably, but not as low as I would like. But my underlying issue is stage 4 chronic kidney disease, so I don't know if I will ever get it down to pristine levels. But with that aside, keep doing what you are doing. A well-rounded carnivore diet is absolutely the best thing for you.
  22. We should split this off and have a thread for our favorite Shorts/Reels/TikToks.
  23. Eggs, bacon, and sausage this morning. A few pork rinds when I got home to tide me over, and then burger patties with cheese for dinner. I'm contemplating a strict BBBE challenge for one of these last few months of the year. October might be it.
  24. They do say K2 pairs well with vitamin D. A lot of keto/carnivores take a D3/K2 supplement that comes together in a single pill. It's important to get your vitamin D levels check somewhat regularly when you take high doses. A friend of mine was deficient, and started taking 5000 IU's a day and within a couple months he was on the verge of vitamin D toxicity. On the other hand, I spill vitamin D (or the proteins which vitamin D binds to) through my urine because of my stage 4 kidney disease. I take 10,000 IU's daily and it has taken YEARS to climb up to decent levels. Eventually I will have to back off of it. But most people who take the dose that I take would suffer consequences pretty fast.
