Hi, my son in law joined us on our carnivore journey about four weeks ago. For the last two or three weeks he's been getting heart palpitations after he eats. Also gets terrible heartburn since going carnivore. Does anyone have any experience with this or heard of this happening before? 

Also, my cousin has SVT, and I've been encouraging her to check out the carnivore diet. However, since hearing about my son in laws heart palpitations I feel nervous about suggesting it to her. Any thoughts?

Heart palpitations, flutters, or an increase in stroke volume on carnivore are common during the transition period. Like most other side effects, heart palpitations are a result of low electrolytes. 

All versions of high-fat low-carb diets cause insulin levels to drop, triggering the kidneys to excrete more sodium. Low sodium disrupts levels of magnesium and potassium.
 

Everyone I’ve come across that experiences this sees it go away as they become fat adapted and start using electrolytes. 
 

I used carnivore to cure myself of Atrial Fibrillation so if it will fix that then don’t worry about a few palpitations.

I don’t know if your SIL started out pure carni or not but some people find that easing into carnivore can be easier on the initial transition stage. If it makes him feel better he might want to introduce some non starch vegetables back into his diet and then wean himself off of them after a couple of weeks. 
Me personally I’d just keep going because he may be on the verge of getting over it. 
Get some electrolytes in him first though and see if that helps.

Yup yup, low electrolytes was the first thing I was thinking of.

Oh that's good to know because I do have some heart palpitations that I've had for years now and I haven't noticed any change in it since going on the diet. Though I am not on the carnivore diet, I'm not sure if the same happens on the keto diet.

Since I’ve never done keto I can’t say but my reversal of my heart condition was a gradual think over a years time. At three months I was taken off of a medication regulating my BB. After 9 months my other heart med was cut in half. After a year I was taken off all medication and one of my cardiologists dropped me as a patient and the other cut my visits down to once a year.
Something’s take time to heal.
Now I’d be curious. Have your palpitations been recorded and documented?
Are the palpitations or PVC’s?
