I have just had one of the most harrowing experiences of my life. Starting sometime around 8/14, I started feeling weak and tired. I had no appetite whatsoever. This weakness continued on till 8/16 at which time I started to get worried. I took an at home covid-19 test...negative. Things continued to get worse. So I went to the ER in the morning of 8/17. I told them I have lack of energy and dizziness upon exertion and general malaise. So I was brought back and they did some blood work and found I was dehydrated and my electrolytes were out of balance. So they introduced some IV fluids, saline, and within 3 hours I felt much better. I figured that should have ended there, however they pointed out that my troponins were elevated, I don't know how high, they just said elevated.(which is a heart enzyme released when there is damage to the heart muscle) and which can also be elevated for other reasons. I was therefore admitted to the hospital for further testing. They did another ECG, as well as a heart echo cardiogram, and a leg ultrasound, looking for DVT and found nothing of concern. Throughout the night they gave me more electrolytes, saline (sodium), potassium and magnesium. I continued to improve. At one point I stated that I would like to go home, because I felt almost completely normal. No dizziness, no weakness.

And that's when things started getting crazy. The doc told me that because my troponins were elevated that he would like to do some more testing and keep me for observation. I declined all of that. And of course he wanted to put me on a statin. I of course declined that as well. So I was signed out AMA (Against Medical Advice). When I was signed out and just about to leave, in walks the cardiologist, telling me how much she cares about my welfare and asks if I could do one simple test just to make sure I'm OK. That would be a quick walk on the treadmill. I agreed. It was a little bit more involved than just a quick walk, but anyway they hooked up these probes to my chest for ECG measurements and took a before picture of my heart with ultrasound. Then walking on the treadmill I got my HR close to maximum, then another after picture was taken with ultrasound. The cardiologist came back in and confirmed what I already knew (after reviewing the before and after ultrasound pictures) that I wasn't going to die of a heart attack any time soon, if at all, ever.

I actually used to have a little bit of faith in the medical establishment, but after this last encounter I have lost all faith in doctors and hospitals. They are like a car salesman and I believe they will try to up sell you every chance they can.

These are just my opinions and some other individuals have probably had more positive outcomes, but most of mine have been negative with most doctors.

I believe you are right. Back in the late 80's - mid 90's I worked at a small local hospital/er/amb. There were very few that I came to have any respect for. I saw alot of things go on. Do your own research. I am not a very obedient patient. 😉

I think they have their place. I have seen and experienced their shortcomings as well. I also think a lot of us wouldn't still be kicking if it were not for them (and maybe some that are not here because of them).

I think the biggest problem is that we learned as well as we were taught to hold the profession in the highest regard. And at one time it was a true calling for the people who practiced medicine. The days of house calls and trading out services for home repairs or meals or food supplies is long gone.

When I was a kid in the town over form us was a doctor who say up his practice in his house. It was the scariest examination room I have ever seen. He had every book ever printed by man stacked up all over the room. So much so I always thought he would die from the pending avalanche. The stacks were always leaning and as a kid, I swear they were swaying.

He charged $2 per visit. As he was giving me a physical to play youth football, he said he didn't understand why young men would bruise their brains on purpose. While examining he noticed I had athlete's foot pretty bad on one foot. My mom explained the family doctor had prescribed this and that but it kept coming back. She had tried different detergents, different socks, and as any good mother would do, ensured his I was bathing. LOL He told he to go home take the prescriptions and toss them int he garbage. Fill a foot tub with water just as hot as I could stand it and then add two cups of white vinegar. Within a day it was healing, and withing a week it was gone and maybe one case since (but I knew the fix). As a twelve year old I remember him telling my mom that if it were not for the doctors the pharmacists would starve to death.

I had zero understanding of how money can sway the noblest of professions.

Our health now plays second, and even third fiddle to Big Pharma and Big Food. They use money in order to use doctors to send us astray. The key to their successes has been using the messenger that we were taught to trust the most. It was a beautiful plan and wildly successful.

I remember years ago when I first realized that doctors were fallable as are we all. I also realized that they were very helpful for many things like helping us mend from broken legs. But I also realized it was up to me to keep me alive. Looking back I know that many medical interventions would probably not have been necessary at all had I started carnivore as a teenager when I first had problems with food.

I would just like to state the main reason I have 0 trust in the modern day medical establishment is, because, with all the modern testing equipment, with all the advanced medical knowledge and with all these modern miracle drugs, people on this planet continue to get sicker and fatter and have more autoimmune diseases than ever before. This is unacceptable and should be going the other way around.

I couldn't agree more.
