  1. I agree. Especially when your audience is specifically looking for products that are carb or sugar free. We must again remember that food labels are a legal disclaimer. We know that whole grain bread is not really whole grain because FDA allowed it. I suspect this will be addressed by RFK Jr. but on the other side, I see it when I believe it.
  2. LMNT is a famous brand of electrolytes that built their brand on a promise of “No Sugar” and “No Dodgy ingredients” But recently it was exposed that LMNT actually includes maltodextrin, a high glycemic index sugar. After one co-founder mistakenly said that the protein contains “No Maltodextrin,” is was later clarified that - despite not being listed among the ingredients - there was 4 mg of maltodextrin, which is so minuscule as to be likely physiologically irrelevant. The reason this maltodextrin wasn’t included in the ingredients is that the small amount functioned as a “flavor carrier,” and was thus subsumed in the “Natural Flavors” item of the ingredient list. https://staycuriousmetabolism.substack.com/p/lmnt-scandal-what-you-need-to-know I know it's been a while since this happened but what are your thoughts? I just watched a video by Ken Berry and Nick Norwitz talking to one of the founders of LMNT. While I myself do not care about maltodextrin, I do care about the omission by the company of the controversial additive.
  3. Utrecht, The Netherlands, 2022 My hometown.
  4. And support you will get. Welcome. I am closing into a year of carnivore myself.
  5. This is another book on my recommendation list. He's been guest on several YT channels, also has a YT channel. The book was just really, a quick and pleasant read about his personal journey. Easy to read and an interesting story. Good advice overall, not too strict on things, but life changing suggestions for sure.
  6. I've seen Elizabeth Bright on YT channels. She's very educational.
  7. Pork chops with salt, pepper, paprika, cinnamon, and a slab of butter. Cooked in cast iron.
  8. Come on, let's bring those memes!
  9. I'll start with an easy one. This book I read last year and got me to seriously consider a lifestyle change. I've always been a disciplined eater but I lived with the wrong information. This book changed that mostly.
  10. I wanted to start a thread consisting of book recommendations. I hope a thread as such is not already in existence, if so, please delete. In my personal journey of decades of reading books regarding diet and health, I had some life changing books that were paradigm changing. I encourage anyone who is an avid reader like me, to share with us the books that changed your life with regards to diet and health.
  11. Remember when using dairy, use those low in lactose (goat cheese), lactose being a sugar. We respond differently per individual to dairy for numerous reasons (genetics, sensitivities, etc). Alcohol turns into sugar, as is well stated in this thread, as well as common knowledge for most. But alcohol does so much more to our bodies. First and foremost, alcohol disrupts protein synthesis. While this would depend on the amounts of alcohol you consume, this may differ per person. Muscle atrophy may be the result. Muscle is responsible for maintaining your glucose levels as well as partaking in the metabolic rate. If that makes sense. Muscle mass is crucial for general health, maintaining homeostasis. Alcohol can disrupt your ability to maintain or gain muscle mass. This is why we do not focus on weight loss, ever. We focus on FAT loss. This is why I so strongly advocate strength training over anything. At any age. Now let's consider the effects of alcohol on your hormones. It leads to hormone imbalance and hormone production. This is bad news, and yet another reason why alcohol is so toxic. Additionally, the intake of calcium specifically is disrupted by alcohol as well. While dairy can be of limited detriment to your progress, we do know that alcohol is an absolute toxin. Now that this lecture is over lol, I do admit, I have a nice bottle of Chivas Regal that I cherish once a month with two dedicated and joyful consumptions. You CAN reduce alcohol intake and still enjoy the vice for what it is. Good luck with your journey.
  12. Good to know we're in good hands. Also good to know you have taken no offense, I'd be bummed. There's been times when things got lost in translation living abroad, even though I think I have gotten quite proficient in the English language by now. The brain still thinks Dutch sometimes. I always tell people, if I truly wished to offend you, you'd know without a doubt, so when in doubt, just ask.
  13. Couldn't be lol. I do apologize. After 23 years of speaking English as a second language, I do still make these silly mistakes, I hope you'd caught on to that. Again, apologies.
  14. I see you made it to Community Moderator status! Could be a better person. Remind me to salute you next time lol.
  15. Combine sugar with fats... this is dangerous information. Don't do this.
  16. But wait, there's more!
  17. Me too, I was heading for the fridge to check.
  18. Yes, same thing can be said about religion, that is why we should not conflate the two. Eating is by definition NOT a religion. That would be my counter argument, and solely my view, nothing more, nothing less.
