  1. The pendulum is swinging back...
  2. This may indicate a drop in blood sugar. When this only occurs during workout, this may be the explanation as your body needs that energy source. Within the 90 day period, you're still in the adjustment phase, and you have now introduced new activities since you started on carnivore. Especially if you were diabetic, pre-diabetic, or just ate a lot of carbs. Cut your activities in half, eat more fat, make sure you don't drink too much or too little, and mind your electrolytes, not just salt. Potassium and magnesium supplements would be recommended. An electrolyte pouch maybe on the days that you do work out.
  3. I think, that if you would never count a calorie again, you'd still lose weight. Know what I mean? I think all those years we weren't counting calories, but carbs. Just my observation. It's carbs that got us fat, not calories.
  4. It does not matter. It most likely never mattered. We lose fat in the kitchen, not in the gym. Cardio is a poor way to lose weight. Think of it like this, a 5k run is equivalent to one chocolate chip cookie, that is 30 minutes of jogging. Eating is for weight loss Cardio is for cardio vascular health Strength training is for metabolic health & efficiency Calorie counting goes out the window too, when you're not consuming carbs.
  5. What did they do now? I am on FB but only for my family overseas.
  6. It does simplify eating a whole lot. If it was you on Zoom last Monday, it was nice to meet you. I lot of these occurrences during the adjustment phase seem alarming. But we cannot forget, not merely as alarming as the condition we found ourselves in while eating the standard diet. We scrutinize everything during these changes, but forget we never did while eating the kind of diet that got us there in the first place.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I hear you on doctors. They do not have the will, or time to listen to you anymore. It took them 17 years to figure out what was wrong with me. And when they figured it out, they had a list of pills to take for me, and send me on my way home. Of course I did not do that, because by that time, I already knew I was on my own. I was already searching for alternatives. Tried low starch diet, no dairy, gluten free, etc. I had mixed results, but more than the doctors ever gave me. I was not interested in pills that would mask the symptom, or the pain. When you stop listening to your body, it will eventually stop on you, so to speak. When they did finally figure it all out, they also told me I was doomed and fated to take medicine for life. That did not sound much like a fix to me. Until 15 years later when I bumped into the carnivore diet. A year in now, and the benefits are tremendous. 80% of my problems gone, pain free as we speak. 30 years of chronic pain, at some point walking with a cane. Carnivore is not the be all end all mind you, there will be other aspects of life that need sorted (working out, walking, etc.), but as my very last resort, it gave me my life back. I am still looking back stunned and amazed.
  8. Fat could just be part of the solution, but if you get enough fat, and you've always had problems with sleeping, they may be other issues at hand, perhaps, nothing to do with diet. On point as always.
  9. I found myself to be in an even better shape than when I got discharged in '95. So keep going at it. We're here to listen to one other's story. This is exactly the place to do so.
  10. I reckon you'll be famous soon. Red carpet! watch your step!
  11. I've had a power outage and when your water heater is electric, this is a blessing. You can heat up the kitchen, by boiling water, have hot water, and yes, still cook. And, it just cooks better.
  12. I have never ever checked my cholesterol. And reading a lot about how the story around cholesterol constantly changes, good cholesterol, bad cholesterol, total cholesterol, etc. Remember when all cholesterol was supposed to be bad? It seems to me what we know about cholesterol is purely theoretical. I am not convinced that cholesterol could tell me a whole lot about my health unless I had symptoms. We are not being ignorant, they are. And they use it to sell pills.
  13. There is for sure, the quality issue. Good point. Once I have a dedicated freezer, I will have my meat processed at an actual butcher. Not many around here.
  14. You may be sleeping faster? Serious guess, you may have to increase fat? Again I do not have these sleep issues, but I've seen this solution to help for some people.
  15. Absolutely. And don't worry about a stall. The scale can be a big fat liar. Combine this assessment with the mirror, your belt, your performance in the gym, and the way you feel. The muscle will weigh heavier, the muscle will also slim you down and keep it down. IMO strength training is an absolute must when you seek to lose weight and KEEP that weight.
  16. This was very helpful. Thanks for the detailed response. I'd like the ground beef to be about 75/25. So the bacon you add is raw then? I'll definitely stick with the Kitchenaid as the reliability is unparalleled.
  17. Update: So I eventually went down all the way to 132 lbs. (60kg) from my original weight of 148 lbs. (67kg). All that in a year. Might not seem that much but consider I was already at a low body fat percentage. Just for reference, I am 5'8 (5'9 on my driver's license, but that is a story full of vanity and wishful thinking). And although I felt fine at 132 lbs. -not weak or anything- my face started to look a little gaunt. Again, I did not look unhealthy, and did not feel unhealthy. Nevertheless, my aim was to go back at least to 135 lbs. (61.2kg) as that was my weight goal, my cut off. I tried and tried but nothing would bring my weight back up, even eating 2700 calories a day (it shows how flawed the cico model really is). I figured out what finally brought me back to 135 lbs. Milk. I was drinking hot chocolate during the festivities of Christmas. Not laden with sugar, just stevia. And that did the trick. End of update. Carry on.
  18. I've got questions! Is it cheaper, is the juice worth the squeeze? What kind of cuts are best to grind? Best appliance to use? (I've got a Kitchenaid) What is the meaning of life?
  19. You may have to take magnesium and potassium as a supplement with regards to tendons and joints feeling tight, crampy. You may also have to add a bit of butter with those steaks, to reduce cravings and pangs. Low occurrence of bowl movement seems to be the norm in the beginning. Especially when jumping in. It could take up to 90 days for your body to figure this out. That said, I do not believe there's any danger. When we eat carbs, we eat a lot of stuff our bodies do not process - a lot more waste on a high carb diet, especially with fruits and vegetables. Also consider the lack of fiber. If you really need the fiber, an ounce of dark chocolate may give you some relief. As for hydration, as you lose more water weight, you hold on to much less water, and hydration is more of a challenge. It's something you'll get use to and also sorts itself out. That is just my opinion, based on a year of this stuff. Good luck to you. You're listening to your body, and that is an excellent start. To add: I've reduced my inflammation close to zero after a year. That was my main goal as well, not so much the weight.
  20. As a Dutch person, it's my national duty to own one and it's great. It was a little pricey but it's something that lasts forever.
