  1. I remember when mine hit 4.8 and I remarked to my nephrologist about it being above the high range, and he said he wasn't worried about it. He said the risk for osteoporosis doesn't start until at least 5.5 and up. After 6 months on my carnivore diet mine was up to 5.3 but he still wasn't concerned and was happier about some of the other small improvements I was experiencing. Then, after the fenofibrate debacle that I talked about in the video you watched (which was prescribed by my PCP, and my nephro said get off that stuff immediately), my phosphorous was up to 9.2. I stopped drinking dark colored sodas (which contain Phosphoric acid) and went a month without cheese and brought it down to 8.3. I'll be testing again this week. So far, nobody has mentioned taking a phosphate binder, but the thought has been bouncing around in the back of my mind. The problem is that meat is heavy on the phosphorous. But DAIRY contains the most concentrated phosphorous of them all. The only way to lower it is to excrete it through the urine. The tricky juggling act is to try not to consume it faster than the kidney can expel it. Start with cutting out dark sodas if you are still drinking them. In fact, read the labels of any food or beverage and make sure none of the ingredients have the letters PHOS in them. If you can bear it, try to cut down on or eliminate cheeses and dairy. I don't think this applies to butter and ghee. This page and the food chart at the bottom is pretty helpful... https://www.kidney.org/kidney-topics/phosphorus-and-your-diet
  2. This is an interesting topic: Why did the Creator ban the consumption of pork under the law of Moses? Some say it was just one of the many ways to set the Israelites apart as different from the pagan nations around them. Others say that it was the divine wisdom of the Almighy, knowing that undercooked pork carried the risk of many food-borne illnesses, and so this was a protection. And yet others see it as symbolism - the pig represented hypocrisy, because it put forth it's split hoof as if to say "see I am kosher" on the outside, but by not chewing the cud it was not clean on the inside. INTERESTINGLY, the animals that split it's hoof and chewed it cud were ruminants. Ruminants were more nutritious because of their 4-chambered stomachs. They could remove all the impurities, and at the same time extract all the nutrition, from the grasses they ate. Ruminant meat was thus considered superior, even in ancient Israelite culture.
  3. I chew sugar free gum, which contains xylitol I believe, a few times a week. It doesn't bother me unless I go through stick after stick. Then it adds up and gives me gas.
  4. When I started my health journey, I was keto. I would try and make dinners that the whole family would enjoy and not complain about. The wife was on board. The kids couldn't bear it and started making their own food or ordering out. They were raised on processed garbage. I tried to fight it, but "mom" would always cave in and play short-order cook and placate them with whatever they wanted. When I went carnivore, my wife would eat the dinners I made - usually steak. But currently she's burned out and is boycotting steak, lol. I'm eating steak and shrimp, and she's eating DiGiorno pizza's. They also keep trying to get me to take them out to dinner more than usual lately too. .... "Oh, I have a great idea... let's go to .... " lol.
  5. Yeah, lol. I bought it for a steal though. Around the time I bought it, the kids were switching rooms, and the spare room was filled with their junk as the transitional room while we painted, carpeted, etc. Then the daughter up and moved out (on unagreeable terms) and it took forever for her to come get her stuff. Now that it's gone, I do have a spare room, which will be my exercise room. But the weather hadn't been agreeable much this winter to move it from the garage to the house. All that changes this week. 🙂
  6. Me. I started carnivore in early 2023 and my wife, for whatever reason, intentionally started bringing even more than the usual amount of junk food into the house. She would gloat while she stuffed her face and brag "I can eat anything I want" and make "mmmm.... yum....." noises as she pigged out in front of me. I simply responded "I also can eat anything I want. The difference is, I don't want any of that garbage." My immediate need to rectify and reverse my health issues were more important. I made a vow to never eat grains or refined sugar ever again that I have for the most part kept (save for the annual anniversary meal or rare special occasion). I lost 60 pounds and she started to gain. My blood work improved, and hers got worse. The doctor even got on her case about the sugar because she became prediabetic. She has since been part-time keto, part-time animal-based, and has taken off the weight and improved her labs. But she still goes on benders once in a while. Depends. I weigh in daily. BUT, some people get real frustrated if they don't see day to day results and then tend to give up. If this should be your personality, then weekly stats measurements would be better for you.
  7. Eat more pork chops, or preferably something a bit fattier. Your pork chops are probably very lean. I know when I eat lean meats, like chicken breast, i don't feel satiated for very long. Essentially you want to eat fatty red meat or fatty fish. Don't drain the fat. Don't be afraid of fat. Indulge in the fat, lol. Eat until you are comfortably stuffed.
  8. Here's an excel spreadsheet attached to this message listing the numerous brands that fry their pork rinds in their own pork fat/lard. This is actually the most common way. Only a few brands use seed oils. Pork_Rinds.xlsx
  9. It's so weird for me to see creatinine flagged as "low" lol. Your kidneys are in tip top shape!
  10. I've been slackin... er... snackin... lately and am up a few pounds, but I'm looking forward to more agreeable weather. We've already had a couple nice days where we took the dog for a walk without the fear of freezing or slipping on the ice, lol. I might actually get this treadmill in the house this month too @Orweller 😛
  11. That's what I do. The kids like the fries or rice, depending on where we go. Nobody is eating like me.

  13. My philosophy is in harmony with Dr. Ken Berry's PHD (Proper Human Diet) spectrum. Where depending on your DNA you could have up to 100 carbs a day depending on your personal physiology. These should be single ingredient whole foods. IF... there's a couple IF's there... 1) it doesn't bring back pain and chronic disease issues, and 2) it also doesn't trigger you to go on binges and start binge eating. If you can't do that then stay away from it. 14. Our software, called Invision, is ever moving forward, and just had a major release that we haven't installed yet. It's chock full of new features and design changes. However, one of the problems with upgrading is that some 3rd party applications may not have been updated to be compatible with the latest software release. One 3rd party app that we use is Tapatalk. However, if you look at the Tapatalk Support Forums, they look pretty dead. Low activity, and very little response. Here is a post I made on February 19th that nobody has bothered to answer as of yet... https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tapatalksupport/any-plans-to-bring-tapatalk-to-invision-community--t48151.html#p260559 Scrolling around over there reveals some interesting drama over the last few years that I was unaware of. It appears that Tapatalk sold themselves to another company. That company didn't do jack-diddly with the product and ran it into the ground. Then the original authors bought it back. But then, a company that owned like 1500+ forums stopped using Tapatalk in favor of their own in-house app, seriously hitting them financially. Now the place looks like a ghosttown. We will eventually have to make the decision to move forward with our upgrade. It isn't imperative at the moment. But we can't stay on old software and deprive ourselves of security patches, bug fixes, and advancing features because Tapatalk is giving up the ghost, lol.
  15. "Marching into March with Much Motivation" For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol. Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk. The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars! Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming. Attending Monday night zoom also counts as a bonus entry. Being a supporter of our YouTube channel also gives you an entry. Let's keep our resolutions going strong!
  16. I went to one of those for the first time about a month ago and absolutely loved the experience. All you can eat meat is my kinda thing, lol. I strived hard to get my money's worth too. Steakhouses are good choices for carnivores for obvious reasons. And if you can't stand dismissing the sides because you are paying for them after all, it's not gonna be the end of the world if you choose wisely. A salad or broccoli isn't going to kill you. But mashed potatoes and honey-glazed brussel sprouts might spike your blood sugar more than you would like.
  17. Exactly. Bone brother it touted in the carnivore-keto-paleo community as being the nectar of the gods, lol. Super nutritious! It's something I should be making more use of than I do. In fact, I've never made my own. I've just bought the stuff on store shelves. I have no issues with histamines whatsoever, so I can drink up! 😋
  18. Thanks. I'll take all the prayers, good vibes, etc, that you wanna send my way or in my behalf. Next week I will be doing another blood draw for a renal panel and cystatin C.
  19. This is to announce that the user @Idunno has been banned from the community.
  20. Disgusting video, lol. Wikipedia has a different take on what cured his cancer. Apparently he was a raw food paleo advocate. I can't find anything outside of the Ripley's video that discusses the rotting flesh. But, that was definitely him in the video.
  21. Bob replied to Geezy's post in a topic in Keto, Carnivore, & Animal-Based Recipes
Uh oh. All 6 of my jars have been in the fridge. And I have been complaining about the odor. I thought it was from rapid-rendering with too high of heat, but maybe they are stinking because they should have been frozen. I think I might ditch them and try again. The bag of fat was cheap.
  22. "If his days are decided, The number of his months is with you; You have set a limit for him that he may not go beyond." - Job 14:5 The context shows that Job is talking about mankind in general. “Man, born of woman, is short-lived and filled with trouble." - Job 14:1 "Man also lies down and does not get up until heaven is no more, they will not wake up" - Job 14:12 "If a man dies, can he live again?" - Job 14:14 Such statements have to be balanced with other scriptures that clearly indicate that individual predestination is not a thing, such as... “time and unexpected events overtake them all.” - Ecclesiastes 9:11 “I take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the curse; and you must choose life so that you may live, you and your descendants,” - Deuteronomy 30:19 That latter verse is actually God Himself speaking. It wouldn't be much of a "choice" between life or death if he already determined their course of action. “Your eyes even saw me as an embryo. All its parts were written in your book regarding the days when they were formed, before any of them existed.” - Psalm 139:16 The creator knew you upon the moment of your conception. This verse is why many of us value the life of an unborn child, because it's clear that God certainly does. From that moment, he would be capable of reading your DNA knowing exactly how you would turn out physically.
  23. Paul Saladino is a wealth of great and accurate information, and this list is spot on. It does make my heart sad though, because I do like tomatoes and peppers, which are fruits, which he normally would say is fine, but not from the nightshade family. I still have them from time to time. I agree with his philosophy that if it's the seeds, roots, stems, or leaves of the plant, it should probably be avoided - with maybe iceberg lettuce being the exception. It's basically just crunchy water, lol. And that would be because what Geezy said here is true... If we are eating a proper carnivore diet (fresh meat and eggs) then we are getting everything we need. The amount of bioavailable nutrition in the vegetables pale in comparison, in that you are not really supplementing yourself with anything special by consuming them. And I would agree with you and disagree with Saladino here. It's been proven that humans do not need carbohydrates. He used to believe the same thing in his book, The Carnivore Code, which is a fantastic resource, btw.
  24. Today is the last day of "Fasting February" and we will add up the entries and have another drawing. We need a theme for March. Carnivore Bar has jumped in to participate in the March giveaway.
