  1. Went most of the day without eating. Just didn’t get hungry. Finally ate some eggs and venison backstrap around 4:00 pm.
  2. I have and still do occasionally. I don’t know why and I don’t know the answer but I can only assume that it may have something to do with the digestive process and all your blood going to digestion. I push on through and will not nap, otherwise like you I won’t sleep well.
  3. Yes I have. They weren’t bad but nothing I’d go out of my way to do again.
  4. Grilled Venison hot links in Egglife wraps.
  5. Yes, try to find that video, I’d be interested in hearing about this. I understand about playing safe but I always try to find out what the common sense truth is before I make any decisions. Generally one man or one video isn’t enough proof for me to go on. It’s kinda like the whole cholesterol myth. I could play it safe based off of what so many in the medical community say but I’ve studied the real truth and I’m not the least bit concerned about my supposed high cholesterol. Also, since I’ve ridden a motorcycle most of my life it’s not in my nature to play it safe.
  6. It’s funny how the mind works. Without a challenge, without thinking about it my body just naturally wants to be OMAD. Now that it’s something to think about I’m feeling hungry. I’ve never had to “try” to be OMAD before but now I have to focus on it. Amazing how the mind works.
  7. I don’t know what “atl” is so please explain. The rest of what you said is news to me. I’ve heard no carnivore doctors say anything like this. I suppose it’s possible but with no one talking about it, it may be rare. There is no doubt that carnivore will cure or reverse fatty liver so I wouldn’t hesitate to continue eating carnivore without actually being diagnosed with something that hinder your results. Oh it’s terrible the things you’ll experience. Things like feeling better than you have in years or even decades. The out of pocket expenses of having to buy new clothes. The constant harassment of people complementing you on how good you look and asking how you did it. Then the increased energy and being more productive, such a hard thing to deal with. Oh man, there are so many downsides to eating this way and becoming healthy that they are just too numerous to list.
  8. There is a recipe thread on here.
  9. Welcome aboard. I’ve already answered this on another thread you started so I won’t repeat myself here. As someone who has been retired for four years now I can tell you it’s one of the top three best decisions that I’ve made in my lifetime.
  10. And what makes you think that may not be best? You are in a whole different world now. If you are judging yourself against what the rest of the world thinks or does then stop that. Everyone else eats a SAD lifestyle so you cannot be judged against them. Same with your blood tests. You can’t be held to the same standards as them. Odds are the majority of the weight you are losing in the beginning is water weight. Because you have no fiber in your diet there is nothing to store the water in your system so it’s just natural that it will be expelled more frequently than if you were eating SAD. It’s at these times when you need to make sure you are not loosing too many electrolytes in the process. I wouldn’t concern myself with the weight loss but just enjoy it. You will hit a plateau soon enough and then you’ll be wondering what happened. Just enjoy the ride and don’t overthink it. In my opinion the absolute worst thing you can do is add carbs back in to your diet unless you have some medical condition that needs to be addressed but for the life of me I can’t think of one. Don’t look for a reason to go backwards but always try to be moving forward.
  11. Welcome to carnivore talk mccleary. While I had great results with my BP doing great things it’s not uncommon for some to experience what you are going through. The good thing is that it generally straightens out in time as your body becomes metabolically healthy and adjusts to this lifestyle. It can be a very radical change for some people. In doing a quick google search it was easy to find several sites, some that require memberships, that have resources listing carnivore friendly doctors across the U.S. Here is one site run by Dr. Kiltz that would be a good start. https://www.doctorkiltz.com/keto-carnivore-doctors/ There is nobody in my local so I just do my own research and take charge of my own health. I’m honest with my doctors and my cardiologist absolutely loves what I’ve accomplished by eating carnivore. So much so that he’s taken me off of all my heart meds, and reduced my visits to only once a year for a check up. I’ve apparently reversed my Atrial Fibrillation. I hope you can find someone as it would make things a lot easier. Good luck.
  12. The syrups are not part of the curing process but simply added for the flavor. As you know, we try to stay away from anything that contains sugar. But it’s all subjective to the individual. Will that tiny amount of sugar on the edge of that bacon harm you? Only you can tell. Will you be eating the whole pound at one sitting? It might, but three of four slices probably not. You could try it and if you see no difference then it is probably not that bad for you but if you find yourself experiencing inflammation, cravings or skin issues then that may be a problem. You can be your N of 1. Now me personally? I don’t want anything sweet in my life except my bride so I would avoid it.
  13. We store fat everywhere. Yes, I have absolutely noticed weight loss in my feet as well as my hands. I had forgotten that I had knuckles and veins in my hands. I’ve got a pair of cowboy boots that have been my favorites for over 40 years and when I bought them they were a little snug but for the last ten years they’ve been too tight to wear. In fact it got to the point I couldn’t even get them on. A couple of days ago I decided to see how they fit and boy was I pleasantly surprised. They not only slid right on but had room to spare. They fit better than they did when I first bought them.
  14. You can still have nachos. Just use pork rinds and cheese with some kind of meat. You don’t need the chili powder. Heck, I’ll even use jalapeños occasionally.
  15. I guess you’re looking at it on a PC? I can turn on dark mode on my phone.
  16. Been outta pocket for a few days so just coming across this. Cool thread. So today is starting out early. I was up by 0100 hrs to put a lamb quarter on the smoker. I’ve calculated this lamb to take 13 hours to get to fall apart tender doneness so it should be ready about 1400 hrs. My last meal was yesterday around 1230 hrs so by the time I eat today it will have been about 25 hours of fasting. When that lamb is ready you can bet I’m going to be stuffing myself.
  17. Sounds nice. I’ll have to give that a try. Thanks.
  18. Well that didn’t last long did it. Lol. Welcome Kayla and congratulations on a good comeback later that evening. If I can give you some advice, plan ahead. Have some bacon already precooked waiting in the fridge that you can grab right quick when one of those cravings hit you. It’s possible that it’s your cheese that is causing those cravings because cheese has sugar in it in the lactose. If you feel that you really need to eat cheese then make sure it’s made from full fat dairy and not skim or part skim milk. You are doing good so keep up the good work. Stay committed to kicking that sugar addiction.
  19. I start my morning with a half a cup of bone broth mixed with half a cup of water, heated up and blended with a tablespoon of butter. So I guess you could say that’s actually a first meal so technically not OMAD but I never count it as a meal. I will only eat again when I get hungry and that may be anytime between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm or 1300 hrs for those overseas. If I’m busy or not at home I find it real easy to ignore the hunger until I can get home or slow down enough to fix something. That’s the thing I love about carnivore is that hunger doesn’t control me like it used to. I don’t equate an empty belly with hunger. Hunger is that desire or urge to eat because my body needs fuel. When I do eat , I eat enough to completely satisfy me and it holds me till the next day. I can easily put away two pounds of meat.
  20. Congratulations on your one month anniversary. It only gets better from here. I have to concur with Scott. OMAD is one of those things that just come naturally. If it doesn’t with you then don’t force it. No reason to. Generally if we get hungry it’s our body telling us we need fuel. In that case eat. But is it really hunger or just an empty belly? I’ve discovered there is a difference. The conventional wisdom among the carnivore community is if you are getting hungry that soon then you aren’t eating enough. Now that could be fat, protein or both. You may need to experiment to find out. Who knows, you may be one of those that just needs a lot of fuel. A high metabolism can do that. It sounds like you are doing great so far so you might just keep doing what you’re doing as long as you’re getting good results.
  21. I don’t have much appetite today. I’ve got a cold that’s kickin my tail but I did manage to eat about a pound of venison steak with butter today.
  22. Feeding your inner rabbit? lol. Brother that still way healthier than 90% of what Americans eat on a daily basis.
  23. Welcome to carnivore talk. You are correct, carnivore is the best. So tell us what it’s done for you.
