"MARCH with Motivation" - March Fitness Challenge & Daily Weigh-in!
I took the weekend off. Needed to recover but I’m motivated to get to walking tomorrow. When my wife and I were walking one of my neighbors stop us to talk and he’s interested in starting carnivore and asked if he could start walking with us. I’m excited about that. The problem with pork rinds
Ain’t nothing wrong with making your own pork rinds or cracklins. If fact it is better in my opinion because you know for sure what you are getting. I make my own bacon and sometimes I’ll buy a whole pork belly slab with the skin still attached. I’ll trim that skin off and make my own cracklins. Good stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Managing the electrolytes?
LMNT is good if you use the plain and not the sweetened. Another good one is KetoChow. Making your own is the best way as you know what you are getting. Now question why you think you need to supplement electrolytes? In the beginning of carnivore we do flush out more fluids and thus electrolytes but in time that can self regulate. Many people jump on the electrolyte bandwagon because everyone else is doing it but it’s easy to over do it. For example I was using an electrolyte mix and after a year on carnivore I had a blood test done as part of my routine exam. It showed that my potassium levels were in dangerously high territory and could stop my heart if I didn’t quit the supplement. This is really not good for someone with a heart condition. My advice would be to make sure you need them before you waste money on them or put your health in danger. My most recent blood tests show that I’m getting all I need from my diet. The only thing I do use is salt because my blood work does show that I’m in the bottom range of sodium. Now if you are experiencing muscle cramps, trouble sleeping, issues with bowels etc, then electrolytes can be very helpful. Vitamins fall into the same category. Do you really need them or are you just following the trend? Most vitamins are not very absorbable and are generally a waste of money. Eating a pure carnivore diet is the most nutrient dense way of eating and as such you should be getting most of everything you need from your meat. The exception may be vitamins D which of course we get from the sun. Speaking of salt. Try to avoid table salt as most of it has sugar in it. I’ve have been a carnivore now for over a year and a half and by getting a blood test every six months I’ve come to trust my diet and the results it’s producing rather than listening to what “everyone else” is doing. If you think it’s helping you then do what you feel is necessary but if budget is an issue then just focusing on your diet may be all you need. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Onions, garlic and ginger - oh my!
No carnivore police around here and definitely no judgement. Will it spoil the magic? Probably not in small quantities. It’s definitely not carnivore but it would be considered ketovore or keto depending on how many carbohydrates you are consuming. Many people do great just eating a keto diet and are able to maintain a state of ketosis and still reap many of the benefits we get from carnivore. The big difference is when those who eat keto just can’t get over a stall or some physical condition that can’t be overcome they find that eating a pure carnivore diet will help them. I have found that the longer I’m carnivore the more I enjoy the natural taste in the meats I eat. I’ve also come to the conclusion that I eat for fuel and not pleasure so that makes a big difference in my mindset and how I approach food. If something does not provide nutrition for my body then I figure why eat it. Enjoyed the onions and what ever else you use as long as there are no adverse effects. But if you encounter problems then that would be the first place to look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you count your macros?
That could be a possibility. Our body’s can think they are in starvation mode and slow down. It is widely believed that increasing our fat intake can help. Personally I’m not of fan of trying tricks to kickstart weight loss. I believe in just letting the body do its thing naturally. After all, you are losing weight so what’s the rush? If you are eating properly the just let it ride. This is a marathon, not a race. Now that’s just how I feel about it and what’s good for me may not be what’s best for thee. Have you tried a long fast? I’ve seen where that has turned on something in some people to get things moving in the right direction. Another thing I just thought of is Priming. Have you heard of that? Check out Bella’s video on it and see if it might appeal to you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you count your macros?
That can certainly happen. It happens to many of us. In my case it’s part attitude and part necessity. My attitude is that I don’t want anything in my body that doesn’t provide nutrition and fuel for it. In my mind it’s just a waste of time and stomach space to put fillers in it when I could put real food in it. The necessity part comes in because after abstaining from the poisonous non food items my body has lost the tolerance it once had and now those things will cause me to feel sick or cause inflammation. I don’t miss any of those items.

What Did You Eat Today?
I’m just of the mindset that if it does not provide any nutrition for my body then I don’t need to eat it. I eat for fuel and not pleasure. That’s just me though and I judge no one for how they eat. I tried a glass of wine when I was about nine months into carnivore and my stomach was upset for several days. I have no desire to put anything in my body that it wants to reject. I find it amazing how much my body has changed and how sensitive it is to the poisons it used to tolerate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s too bad about the bear. My bear, what little I got to eat, was pretty good but it was fresh within a couple of hours of being killed. It’s nice that you feel that it’s rude to not eat what’s been served but I don’t see my health as being a breach of etiquette. If I had an allergy to shellfish and my host served shrimp it wouldn’t be rude to politely decline something that would harm you. I feel that way about my health. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just hope it’s more user friendly for me. I like Tapatalk because it’s so easy to use and all of the posted I’m subscribed to show up as unread and are posted for me to see in the unread column. With the web version it doesn’t always show me what’s unread and I miss a lot of posts. The advantage of the web version is I can do more things on it that I can’t do on Tapatalk such as muti quotes. Do you count your macros?
I do not count anything. Carnivore is so simple even a caveman can do it. (See what I did there?[emoji13]) I just eat fat and meat until I’m completely full and I only eat when I’m hungry. The only thing I kept track of was my weight and my measurements. It’s worked well for me and many carnivores before me. I don’t have much of an analytical mind but for those who do it can be a fun thing to do. Keep a journal so you can refer to it to help you track trends. There is no way for any of us to determine your calorie intake. I personally don’t believe in calories because they are only a measurement of something burned and we do not burn our food so I believe it to be a useless metric. But if you want to measure your food that way you’ll just have to experiment. Set a goal for what you think will be a good starting point, let’s say 1700 calories. Strive for that daily and keep track of what your body does each day in your journal. Adjust from there as you feel you need to. I think a better metric, if you must crunch numbers, is to eat by weight. 1 gm of fat and 1 gm of protein for every pound of your ideal body weight and then adjust as needed for the results you want. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why is bacon so delicious
That’s a new one on me. Just a quick search came up with this. Sodium erythorbate has little to no nutritional benefit. Although most aren't affected by consumption of the additive, it has been linked with allergic reactions, gout-like symptoms, and kidney stones (in those with a past history of kidney stones). I have no idea if this is true or not. If you have been eating it and have had no ill effects then I wouldn’t bee too concerned but if you aren’t sure about it then find some bacon that doesn’t have it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

share your skin care tips please
Cool. My scalp feels so much better when I go a week or two without shampooing it. Once I shampoo it it takes a couple of days before it starts feeling good again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Chicken Fried Steak!
Spot on man. CFS is a staple of Texas cuisine. Try it with catfish too, it’s great. Add some cream cheese to your cream to thicken it up done or try this steak sauce. It’s fantastic. Recipe The BEST Steak Sauce INGREDIENTS 1 cup unsalted butter (2 Sticks of butter) 8 ounces cream cheese 3/4 cup bone or beef broth Truffle salt to taste INSTRUCTIONS • Heat the butter in a large sauce pot over high heat. Whisk often so the butter doesn't burn on the outside of the pan. The butter will start to bubble and froth up. Whisk often at this point. The butter will start to darken and turn brown. Remove from heat and keep whisking. • Add the cream cheese. • After a minute, slowly add the broth, truffle salt. • Use a stick blender to puree until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning and truffle taste to your liking. • Pour into a mason jar. Cover and store in the fridge for up to 7 days. This sauce will thicken a lot overnight. • Serve with your favorite steak! This of course is good with any meat and even makes a good dip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
