Weight Training on Carnivore
Geezy replied to perfecta1c's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
From my understanding neoglucogenesis is only an issue if you are a diabetic. Lol, yeah it’s real easy to overthink Tim his way of eating. Sometimes we just need to KCCO. (Keep Calm and Carni On) -
Flew right over my head my friend, must have been the accent.

why triglycerides high on carnivore?
Geezy replied to susu's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Audi, do not feel like you are a failure. You are an individual just like we all are and as such you cannot compare yourself to anyone else in this lifestyle. Because we all have different physiology’s this WOE affects us each differently. You have to find your own path. What works for one may not work for another. We see this all of the time. I’m sorry but there just isn’t a cookie cutter approach to this. How does the rest of your blood work look? I think Bob has some knowledge on triglycerides and hopefully he’ll be along soon to give you some input. -

why triglycerides high on carnivore?
Geezy replied to susu's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Welcome Susie. I’m glad you could join us. Triglycerides going up after starting carnivore while rare could be caused by several things. Loss of triglyceride clearance pathways when carbs are restricted Low fiber intake failing to lower triglyceride absorption Too high of intake of saturated fat Weight loss releasing triglycerides from fat cells Underlying conditions like genetics, hypothyroidism, or fatty liver A triglyceride level below 150 mg/dL is considered ideal. Levels between 150-199 mg/dL are borderline high. Having levels between 200-499 mg/dL is considered elevated and higher than 500 mg/dL is very concerning. Some things that you might consider trying is increasing your omega 3 intake Eating more high omega-3 foods like fatty fish, fish roe, oysters, and beef liver can help combat high triglycerides. Omega-3 fats help improve triglycerides, Reducing your intake of saturated fats. Limiting intake of high saturated fat animal foods like pork, lamb, beef ribeye, cheese, and butter may help lower triglyceride levels. I know you’ve already tried this but maybe look at what kind of fats you are eating. Mostly ruminant fat or pork? Try more monounsaturated fats. Focusing on fattier cuts of meat that are high in monounsaturated fat like beef tenderloin, chicken thighs, and salmon can help improve triglycerides. As much as it pains me to say this, maybe add some fiber back in. Although fiber is limited on carnivore, options like chia seeds and avocado can help bind to triglycerides and reduce their absorption. Exercise regularly. Engaging in aerobic exercise and strength training most days of the week can help lower triglyceride levels over time. Losing weight if overweight. Excess weight is tied to high triglycerides. Losing weight through the carnivore diet can lower triglyceride levels. Manage any underlying conditions you may have. Getting conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, and fatty liver under control can all help lower excessive triglycerides. If you don’t have any of those you might aught to get checked out to make sure. Lowering your protein intake. Overeating protein can raise triglycerides in some people. Try reducing protein portions if levels remain very elevated. Consider taking a supplement. Like fish oil, berberine, curcumin, and vitamin E may help support healthy triglyceride levels. I hope some of this helps. -
Weight Training on Carnivore

3. As you are probably already aware I do not believe in the whole CICO theory. In my opinion and experience the only way you need to eat is to eat when you are hungry and then eat until you are full. No need to count anything. No need to weigh or measure anything. Just eat plenty of animal fat and animal protein. If when you finish a meal and you’re not satisfied yet then eat more until it no longer tastes good. The key thing is getting g enough fat. You do not “burn fat” through cardio or exercise. You burn fat by using ketones for fuel instead of glucose. If you never did any cardio again or ever lifted another weight you would still burn fat and lose weight and inches. By lifting weights you will more than likely gain weight but that would be a good weight because it would be muscle weight. To know whether you are losing fat or not is to keep a journal write down your total body measurements once a month. You will see a difference in size even if you don’t notice any weight loss. -
“For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men” (1 Peter 2:15). “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, in order that the opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us” (Titus 2:7-8). Jesus commanded His original disciples and us, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16). More examples of how we should not only conduct ourselves in our Christian walk but in our carnivore lifestyle. Christ commands us to be a good example for His glory. This is also how we should conduct ourselves in our carnivore journey. Be a shining example of what proper nutrition can do in our lives. Just as Christians are constantly under the microscope as people watch for them to stumble so the carb eaters will be watching you to see if you fail. Always be aware that you are an example of the good that carnivore brings. Let the light of good health shine for all to see.

Very good, thank you.

It’s very addictive to me so I have to be careful with it.

So? You can’t eat a calorie because a calorie has no mass.

challenge "World Carnivore Month" January Challenge!
Geezy replied to Bob's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Well I had a bad couple of days eating on Monday and Tuesday. I had to go to Louisiana for a funeral. We stayed at a B&B. The first nightly we went out to eat at my wife’s favorite restaurant in Shreveport. I did good just having the ribeye but I’m sure it was cooked in seed oils. It was a fantastic piece of meat though. At breakfast the host at the B&B gave us bagels which we declined stating that we didn’t eat bread. The host asked if I had any specific dietary restrictions and I told him I just eat meat and eggs, zero carbs. He asked “Not even grits?” “No sir, not even grits.” We are southerners after all. So in his generosity he brought me out eggs with extra slices of bacon and sausage. Eggs were cooked in seed oils. The first bite of the sausage I tasted maple. I thought what the heck, it’s just this one time. Then I took a bite of the bacon. It was oven baked which I don’t care for but that wasn’t the worst part, it was covered in brown sugar. I swallowed that bite to be polite but couldn’t eat anymore. Then after the service there was a catered wake. I looked over the selection and saw a few items I thought I could eat. Jalapeño poppers. Great. Stuffed with cream cheese that had something sweet in it. At this point I’m hungry and I didn’t care so I ate four of them. Meatballs covered in a tomato based sauce. They were made with Wagyu beef and were tasty. The sauce wasn’t very thick so I indulged, after all I was hungry. I’m pretty sure there were some kind of fillers in the meatballs. For someone who has been as strict as I’ve been for over 200 days all of this was a bit of a shock to my system. On the four hour drive home we stopped at a bbq joint and got a whole rack of ribs. The first good meat in almost two days. Before we got home I started noticing that my hands were getting real stiff so I knew that inflammation was creeping in. The next day I had gained two pounds and my pants were tighter around the middle. Geez man, it wasn’t that much off plan but dang it had a dramatic impact. Oh and I had loose bowels. Next time I encounter that situation I’ll practice what I preach and just fast. That “little bit” ain’t worth it.- 193 replies

Carnivore diet and working out
Geezy replied to Kbolton's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
I experienced this especially in the first 90 days and a few times since. At first it was due to the diet bringing my blood pressure down to normal levels naturally and my medication taking it even lower artificially. Once my cardiologist took me off of the medication I would still experience it occasionally while working outside in the heat. I found that using electrolytes before hand helped but the overall thing I found was that I wasn’t eating enough. Many people, when the first get started on carnivore tend to under eat. Either they are still caught up in that fable of CICO or they just don’t eat as much because they don’t get as hungry on carnivore. Try to remember that when we become fat adapted we are no longer using glucose for fuel. In fact, if we are eating properly, we no longer have any glucose left to burn except what our bodies make naturally. We now use ketones for fuel which come from the fats stored in our bodies and the fat we consume. Therefore it’s important that we get plenty of fat when we eat. -

Hmmm freedom of speech, what a novel concept. Sounds good to me. The only reason this spineless little weasel is doing this though is because he’s afraid of the new administration. I it’s not a hill he’s willing to die on but it’s still a good thing. We’ll see how it works out. -
CHECK YOUR BUTTER.....
Geezy replied to Meathead's topic in Diet News, Medical Research, & Health Reports
Well there you go. -
Calories” are a measure of heat energy created when you burn something in a calorimeter. Completely useless measure as we do not burn our food, we process it chemically… completely different processes and outcomes. Folks lose weight/fat on carnivore because they cut carbs from their diets, not because they cut calories. In fact, you can lose weight/fat on carnivore even when you increasethe total calories you eat. Yes, in fact, you can lose weight/fat by reducing carbs and eating the same or even more calories on carnivore. Why is that? It’s because (1) carbs turn into glucose (in fact they are glucose) which if not burned immediately for energy get stored for future energy as fat by insulin. (2) Eating fat increases your metabolic rate of energy consumption. Because eating fat does not increase insulin, stored fat is free to leave adipose storage to be used as fuel. On carnivore it will be used as fuel because by restricting carbs it’s the only fuel available. The human metabolic system does not run on units of heat energy ie calories. Calories cannot be eaten because they are not mass and what we put into our bodies is mass.

Greetings from Australia 🦘 Gabe Skinner
Geezy replied to Gabe Skinner's topic in Greetings and Introductions
Welcome Gabe. You sound like the perfect candidate for the carnivore lifestyle. Ecmvrty ailment you mentioned is treatable through proper diet and nutrition that you will get from being a carnivore. Bob has suggested a very good path for you to follow. That just it, you can’t trust any of the conventional doctors out there. 99% of them are ignorant of nutrition and how it plays a role in our metabolic health. They do not study nutrition in school. I only use doctors now to fix something I’ve broken. You need to take charge of your own health. Do your own research and make your own decisions. Doctors are the third leading cause of death right behind heart attacks and cancer and if the truth be known they are the cause of most of those as well. If you want to listen to some doctors you can trust then look up Dr’s Berry, Chaffee, Baker and Ovadia on Utube. They won’t steer you wrong. -
poll What is your favorite way to eat/prepare eggs?
Geezy replied to Bob's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Here we call those eggs in a nest. Nos that I’m carnivore I’ll never eat them that way again. -
Be careful of “regular salt”. If it’s anything like what we have here in the States it may had additives in it that are not compatible with your diet such as sugar. Bob is correct on his assessment of salt in relation to high blood pressure. Since I have been carnivore I’m off all of my medications one of them being for regulating my blood pressure. In the meantime I liberally salt my food and even put salt in my water on occasion and my blood tests show that my sodium levels are barely staying in the normal range. Since there are no longer and carbs in my body retaining fluid in me my kidneys are free to expel any excess sodium I might have.

As you adapt it should get better. Get through 30 days and then another 30 days and then another and after about 90 days you should be seeing some really good improvements. To respond to an individual like I did to you just look at the bottoM of the post you wish to respond to and a lite to the left of center you’ll see a button that says “quote”. Click on that and it’ll quote the whole post so that you can respond directly to it. If you just want to respond to a specific sentence you can highlight the sentence or word and a quote button should appear under it the sentence. You can then click on that button and do the same thing as quoting before and responding.- 193 replies

Geezy replied to Bob's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
Give your body time to adjust. Many people claim that they get better, longer sleep after becoming carnivore. This hasn’t been my experience but most people my age don’t sleep long anyways. I sleep 4 to 5 hours and to be honest I have no issues with having enough energy to get through the day. I don’t know what’s right or wrong when it comes to how much sleep we need. I think it’s all just individual. If we are feeling ok then we are probably getting enough. If not then you may need to supplement but I would give your body more time to adjust before trying a supplement. Our bodies are not quick to adapt to changes.- 193 replies
