New here - will cravings ever stop?
Geezy replied to Alexandra's topic in Greetings and Introductions
You were clear but what you weren’t completely carnivore. You said you’ve only been carb free for a week. Because you were still eat some veg and dairy you were still taking in carbs. So it may take a little more time to drop those cravings because of that. I was struggling with cravings myself even after a year because I was eating too much dairy. Dairy contains lactose and that is a sugar. It can be highly addictive especially for someone who is carb free because that may be the only sugars that their body is getting and that can exasperate the cravings. It took me two months before I could say that I had kicked the dairy habit and I stayed away from it until I reached my maintenance stage. I will eat dairy now but in limited quantities only. I’ve learned how to control it. Just eat plenty of animal fats, animal protein, salt and drink only water and take some vitamin P (patience) and give it more time. This is a lifestyle commitment, a journey of healing not a race. I think you’ll be fine with time. -
New here - will cravings ever stop?
Geezy replied to Alexandra's topic in Greetings and Introductions
Alex, welcome to the group. Yes the cravings in the beginning can be quite normal. Your body has not become fat adapted yet and your body may be crying out for carbs. It wants that glucose for energy. It can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to get past the addiction of craving carbs. In the meantime eat as much as you feel you need to in order to satisfy your cravings but just make sure it’s fatty meat. When I first started I kept a pound of bacon already cooked up in the refrigerator so I could grab a quick bite when I needed to. I kept hard boiled eggs on hand as well as hamburger patties. If you can find some clean jerky or meat sticks or biltong that would help. Give it some time and stay committed to getting past this stage. Having the right attitude will do more for you than anything. -

I think you are too. To often doctors and we as well try to put everyone in a one size fits all box. We are all different and have to find what works best for ourselves.

On the surface that might make some sense but in reality, from my experience, it doesn’t really do anything. Regardless of whether you are burning fat from your diet or your fat stores you are still going to burn fat and it will come off as it needs to. Eating leaner meats could increase your appetite since you’re not getting your appetite suppressed by dietary fats and you may end up eating too much protein. The reason your cholesterol has gone up is because without glycogen to burn for fuel your liver must release more fat into the blood stream to fuel the body. So it’s only natural that there be higher amounts of fat in our blood. You can try to eat leaner but I don’t believe it will do any good.

I’m with meathead on this one. While protein is important for our overall heath we need more fats than we do protein. I’m not saying don’t try your sardines but make sure you’re eating a good source of animal fats otherwise you may be defeating the purpose of a carnivore diet. Good luck and let us know how it works for you.

Nine hundred year old meat market closes
Geezy replied to ol_hilly's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
What a shame. I hate to hear of old institutions being shut down and pushed out by progress brought on by progressives. In the article it stated “People are eating less meat and fish,” Hayward wrote to colleagues. This wouldn’t be so bad if it were the actual choice of the people but it’s not, it’s all brought on by government lies and political brainwashing of the populace. -
But trials test the genuineness of our faith and purge us of sin and shallowness like a refiner’s fire purges gold. The process may be painful, but the result is more precious than the purest gold (1 Peter 1:7). Again, a scripture that we can apply to our daily journey into carnivore. Many of us find struggles in adapting this WOE in our lives and yes it can be a trial that is sometimes painful but the end result is more precious than gold.

Great visit with my Neurologist today
Geezy replied to Scott F.'s topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
Exactly! There is a diet known as the Bible diet in which you only eat the foods that were eaten in biblical times. The fallacy with that is those foods no longer exist. We have taken what God gave us and reengineered it to suit our own purposes. -

Great visit with my Neurologist today
Geezy replied to Scott F.'s topic in General Health and Wellness Discussion
It’s crazy but I’ve counseled several people from diabetics to those fighting cancer and those who have have totally wrecked their health from a lifetime of eating nothing but crap food and it’s amazing that when presented with a simple means to healing themselves they turn it down in favor of pills, sugar and early death. I have helped a couple of them and they are doing great but the majority just think it’s ridiculous. So all we can do is put it out there and be a good example but it’s all up to them. -
True but getting that proper information is the trick when everyone who’s making a profit from it keeps lying about it.

Dairy can put weight on. Now I’ve heard that butter, even though it’s a dairy supposedly doesn’t fall into that category but I’m not convinced of that because over doing anything can cause setbacks. So I do think you should cut back the butter but keep up your animal fats and protein. In Dr. Bakers book The Carnivore Diet he stated that if you are still hungry then eat. Just make sure it’s fatty meat. We all have a different metabolism and some can be satisfied with just a pound of meat but I’ve seen Dr. Bakers knock off a 4 pound chunk of steak like it was nothing and he regularly eats 2 pounds of steak at each meal but he has a high metabolism and that’s what it takes to satisfy him. You'll just need to use a little trial and error to see what works best for you. Keep a journal detailing what you are eating and see how things are affecting you. Try something and then monitor what your body does over the next three days. No change then try something else but each time give it three to five days to work if fail and keep track. Eventually you find your path. Good luck.

Went grocery shopping in God’s great supermarket.

That’s understandable. We were all ignorant of something until we opened our minds and learned the truth. What many fail to understand is that for one thing to live, another must die. With that understanding comes responsibility. Whether that’s raising my own animals for food or hunting for my food I have a responsibility towards that animal to ethically care for them and as humanly as possible put them down. Along with that comes a reverence for that animal and it’s sacrifice for me. When my son was about 8 years old he was out front shooting his BB gun. He spotted a field lark (bird) siting on the high line wire. He asked me if he could shoot it. Rather than tell him no and that it was against the law I decided to let him make up his own mind so I told him yeah, he could shoot it. I then told him “But I don’t know how it’s gonna taste”. He asked if we ate those kind of birds and I told him not normally. I said that we eat dove, quail, duck, geese but I wouldn’t eat a field lark unless I was starving, but if he took that birds life that would be his lunch because we only kill for food or protection, so if it’s not vermin then it must be food and that field lark wasn’t bothering us therefore if you kill it it’s food. He decided that that bird didn’t need killing. -

Anytime buddy. -
Now this is kinda embarrassing for me to post these pictures and I’ve never let anyone else see them but it’s worth the embarrassment to see how far I’ve come. May 9, 2023. 225 lbs 562 days later 165 lbs What inspired me to take the pictures this evening was we were fixing to go out with some friends and as I was getting dressed I decided to try on a belt that I haven’t been able to wear for along time and I was pretty excited that it fit again.

Took out both lungs and blew the heart in half so you could say it was a perfect shoot. Almost instantaneous but it was a shame because I like to eat the heart so the dogs got the heart on this one. -
Welcome to our group Aesop. Your cravings are your body telling you that you need more fat. You’ve burned up your glycogen stores and now need more fat for fuel. Don’t be afraid to feed the beast.

Why Keto & Carnivore?
