  1. Welcome Mikenna. So glad you could join us. I’m also glad you are feeling so good in your short time on carnivore. It is a healing diet and was an early treatment for epilepsy as far back as the 1920’s. I think you have a wonderful future ahead of you. Let us know if there’s anything we can help you with. 2. Interesting perspective. I’m curious, how old are you? I ask because for the majority of us who are up there in age and have numerous physical and metabolic issues carnivore is a miracle drug. It is truly a healing diet. Many younger people who have yet to wreck their bodies through hard living and poor nutrition don’t see as much benefit except in the weight loss area. What they will benefit from is proper nutrition that will stave off the pain and suffering that we went through util we found this WOE. One month isn’t very long to see much change if there’s not much wrong with you. I saw enough change in 30 days to encourage me to go for 60 and then 90 and now I’m 392 days carnivore and will never turn back to the poison in my old life. As far as variety goes you are only limited by your imagination. I find plenty of variety eating carnivore. Just look up what I eat on a daily basis on the “what did you eat today” thread. You’ll see that I never get bored. We don’t really eat less at all, we just eat what we need. There is a difference. That average person today over eats but the beauty of carnivore is that it satiates you so well that you stay satisfied for much longer. Most carnivore’s end up only needing two meals a day and the rest, like me, just eat once a day. I only eat when I’m hungry because that’s my body telling me it needs fuel. Food is no longer for pleasure and entertainment but is now for nutrition and health. Carnivore for us is not just a diet. It’s a lifestyle. It’s not what we eat, it’s what we are. 4. So I made two pounds of liverwurst today and grilled up some heart, kidneys, spleen and testis. Heart and liver I eat all the time from the animals I raise and hunt. Good as usual. The spleen was my first time. It didn’t have a whole lot of flavor so it was no big deal. Testis or as we call them calf fries were great. We normally harvest and eat calf fries come round up but since we’ve quit cowboying we don’t get them much anymore. The kidneys were a new experience and I’m kicking myself for always giving them to the dogs in the past. The kidney’s were very good. Gonna have to try venison kidney off the next deer I kill. 5. Exactly right Bob. Adkins was very similar but after 10 years of being successful on Adkins I failed because it was allowing too much sweets and carbs in until it just took over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We’ve talked about doing that before and I think it’s a great idea. I think I see a shrimp alfredo coming up in the near future. [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Today is going to be an organ day. I’m making liverwurst and I’ll be grilling heart, kidneys and testi over a wood fire. These are all from my latest lamb we slaughtered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I am also of German (75%) and Scandinavian (25%) heritage. Willkommen I don’t know if any specific carnivore cookbooks but we do have a recipe thread on this forum and Dr. Kiltzs Mighty Tribe forum has a recipe section. Ours is small but growing. There are many recipes on the internet if you ask specific questions and utube is loaded with people showing off their culinary skills in the carnivore spectrum. I use these resources to get ideas and I will try many and modify some to suit my eating style. When I create something I start with a foundation of meat, fat and salt and then I add or take away depending on what my body can handle. I also try to keep things simple. I’ve tried making breads using animal products as many utubers do but I find it more work than I care to do but I can make a savory stew with just meat, bone broth, salt and butter. One one difficult the other simple. The thing you need be cautious of when looking at recipes that people put out there as carnivore are not always pure carnivore. For instance, my recipe for liverwurst is not carnivore in it’s ingredients but I put the caveat that you need to adjust the recipe to suit your style of eating and what your body can tolerate. A good example of that would be my Chaffle vs Paffle recipe. Chaffles use cheese but since I’m presently abstaining from dairy I’ve substituted the cheese with pork rind panko. It works well and is now my go to bread. I’ve heard many people complain and even quit carnivore stating that there’s no variety but I would argue that variety in carnivore is only limited by your imagination. 12. Welcome Fraenk, glad you could join us. Well I’m one of the fortunate ones who’s back pain was 90% alleviated within 60 days of carnivore. I’m sorry your not finding any relief yet. Just what exactly is your back issue? I’ve had a protruding compressed disc do over thirty years and carnivore will not fix that but it does reduce the inflammation tremendously so that’s a big help. When I do strain my back by over exerting myself or lifting wrong my recovery is faster. I also had developed spinal stenosis and had surgery for that and while the surgery fixed the stenosis I developed a constant back pain that in time restricted my movement so bad that it was getting difficult to to walk. I couldn’t walk to my mailbox a hundred yards away without using some kind of support and I couldn’t stand at the sink to wash dishes for five minutes without resting my forearms on the edge of the sink. Within 60-90 days of carnivore all of my inflammation and pain was gone and now I’m briskly walking 3 miles every other day without any support or discomfort. The only reason I’m telling you this is to show that it all depends on what your issue is. Carnivore will reduce or even eliminate inflammation which causes most of our pain but injuries are a different matter. The diet can help to reduce the inflammation around the injury but I don’t believe it can fix it entirely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Actually I’m an totally immersed in studying diet and nutrition as well as the carnivore community. I take nothing for granted and look at both sides with as much non bias as I can. I look at everything with as much common sense and logic as I can muster and I seek the truth. Yes, I know many people eat whole foods and are healthy and fit but if you really look at them you’ll see that they also aren’t obese, don’t smoke, don’t eat tons of sugar and highly processed foods and live active lifestyles. If everyone would do that then we wouldn’t have a nation where 70% of the population was overweight and sickly and 47% were obese. I never said that carbohydrates were unhealthy. I said they were unnecessary and that is true. They are not an essential food for human survival. If you want to eat fruits and vegetables go ahead, engorge yourself. None of us will judge you, especially like you’re judging us. You made some judgmental blanket statements that were just plain false. You obviously don’t care for the carnivore lifestyle and it doesn’t suit you so fine, don’t do it. Eat keto if that’s better suited for you. We have some keto eaters around here and we welcome them gladly and don’t judge them. Not everyone has what it takes to eat the way we do. You gotta do what’s best for you. 16. Welcome Dennis. Glad you could join us and welcome to the world of eating a proper human diet. Hunger in between meals is certainly not common to carnivorous as our food is very satiating. Generally those who find themselves getting hungry between meals are either not eating enough during their meals or not eating enough fat. It is the fat that satiates us. I can eat a pound of fatty beef and be satisfied all day but chicken leaves my hungry because there just isn’t enough fat I’m nor the right kind of fat to satisfy me. I have to drown my chicken in butter to get anything out of it. So, examine your diet to make sure you are eating until comfortably full and also getting enough fat. When I first became carnivore I ate by the clock just like I always had but I started to notice that I was eating when I wasn’t really hungry. So I decided that it was foolish to eat when I wasn’t needing food. I’d never get hungry in the morning and it might be somewhere between noon and three in the afternoon before I’d get hungry enough to eat. I had developed a keto hunger and my carb hunger had gone away. With a keto hunger I only feel the need to eat when my body says it needs fuel. Just because my belly is empty it doesn’t mean I’m hungry, it’s just empty. I’ll know I’m truly hungry when I’m wanting some fatty protein. If you do feel the need to snack on something then keep some cooked bacon in the fridge and some hard boiled eggs and grab a slice or two and eat an egg. Quick and easy and carnivore. 17. Welcome Kristin. We are glad you joined us. You are very early into your new lifestyle of eating so your body is going through some transitional changes as it learns to become fat adapted. If your gall bladder is acting up it could a medical issue that you need to see a doctor about. Check out this video from Dr. Berry about gall stones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Then I question if you really know the difference between a cult and a way of life.
  19. Ignorance is bliss. I know in my own experience that I have stopped eating numerous processed foods after reading the ingredients labels. As I abstain from all sugar and sweeteners ice cream is a no brainer for me.
  20. Nina’s book The Big Fat Surprise is one of the better books I’ve read about our WOE and modern science.
  21. Gotta admit possum is one critter I haven’t tried yet. I’ve got my own chickens but they can barely keep up with our consumption. But I appreciate the offer.
  22. I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count. I hit the jackpot today. A neighbor and friend of mine’s guinea’s are overwhelming them with eggs so I said I’d take all he could spare. So it’s been an egglisious day. I think I may need to teach him how to preserve eggs for long term storage. [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah that’s odd. Gas is generally caused by plant matter fermenting in the gut. Now I get gassy during the early morning but that’s because while using my Bipap machine I swallow a lot of air. I’m with Bob, cut out the eggs or just the egg whites and see if that helps. If that doesn’t help then you may need to see a gastroenterologist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That’s generally the consensus. Loose bowels, lower the fat. Stopped up, increased the fat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
