Hello,

I've been on the carnivore diet for exactly 2 weeks and I've noticed a few changes already...  mostly good.

I have also noticed my allergies, primarily around the eyes, worsen.  It has been unusually cold and dry so that might also have effect on my eyes and sking around my eyes due to dryness.

I am also just coming out of having caught pnemonia, suffer from allergies seasonally, and have glaucoma.  I feel like I can't focus my vision and my eyes are constantly itchy and teary.  Not sure if it's relevant but for context.

Finally, I'm noticing bags and dark spots around my eyes which I never had in the past.  Perhaps that's due to my face starting to get smaller, or not (?).

Has anyone else suffered from similar issues when first starting out?

Thanks

If you're in a northern climate like me, it could be the cold. January is being brutal to us this year where I live. My lipped are chapped. My legs itch from dry skin, etc.

Also remember that you initially lose a lot of water and water weight, because you are not consuming carboHYDRATEs. This is why a lot of us drink a little extra water and take an electrolyte supplement in the beginning of our carnivore journey. You might want to consider doing the same to ensure that you are not dehydrated or mineral deficient.

This could be. When I was obese I had smooth skin because of the fat in my face. When I lost the weight, I got wrinkles, lol.

With this being winter we don’t normally encounter allergy symptoms around here. That more of a springtime thing.
Prior to starting carnivore my eyes watered all the time. My nose ran constantly and in the spring my eyes would itch really bad. I kept medicine on hand for that.
After being in carnivore for a while my eyes dried up. They stopped itching. My nose dried up about 80%. Now it only runs when it’s cold.
Your recent illness could very well be what’s happening but it could also have something to do with oxalate dumping.

I have some type of atopic rash that makes my face fatty and dry at the same time. It can be seen somewhere else, too.

I use cortisone lotion for it.

But whenever I´m cutting carbs low,the rash disappears. Gone. I have been watching this for 20 years now,it is a sugar thing.

it was worst in my beer drinking days.

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
