I ate twice yesterday and felt overly stuffed. Today I didn't eat til around 6PM. I had a pretty big NY strip.

I wish I could easily eat more.

Scott

Why do you want to eat more? Are you trying to gain weight?

I’m going to try eating when hungry instead of sticking to a fasting schedule. And eating less. I think I eat too much when intermittent fasting because I get scared of getting hungry, and I believe that eating so much in one meal may be causing histamine reactions. I’ll see how it goes. It’s all experimentation at the moment.

Good job Joanna. Being your own N of 1 is the way you’ll find your path.

I had a busy week so I am doing some catching up, but intermittent fasting has been a success. I've managed to not eat until noon or 1pm each day, and then have dinner around 7-8pm.

When I eat, it has to count though. If I have something small for my first meal after not eating for 16+ hours it doesn't satiate me for long and I am ravenous. When I practice IF, I have to eat bigger meals.

I'm the opposite,my hunger goes away in OMAD. I think I'm not eating enough when I trust my "hunger" -but those calorie tables are for carb eaters I guess...? I get less than 10 g carbs per day.

My energy comes 75 % from fat.

Anyway,I'm feeling good and weight, waist and fat % are all going steadily down. And blood pressure.

Blood ketones were 2,9 and glucose 4,6 today.

Belly will take some time... I've been here before. 🙂

I am not necessarily trying to gain 'weight' but I am trying to add muscle. In order to build muscle I need on average of about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. I'm at 216 and that works out to be pushing 200 grams of protein in a day. After naturally falling to OMAD it is now hard to eat again and again in the same day. When I get around 170-180 grams of protein that amount of food leaves me more than full.

It has become an inner battle of do I keep eating and try to build muscle or do I eat when I am hungry and let the lifting/working out leave me in wherever that leaves me?

Eat how it feels most natural to you. I eat when hungry, that's it. Sometimes that means 2 meals, and sometimes 3, rarely 4. Keep it simple. Unless one has to lose a lot of weight, or has a serious eating addiction, I see no value in fasting. SO long asw e are not constantly eating, snacking, etc, we'll be fine.

Grams per IDEAL weight. Say you aim for 180lbs. That is the protein you need for a 180lbs body. If you do have fat, there's no amount of muscle that's going to show, that kind of mass is built with steroids. I way less than ever but look most muscular than ever. So it's also fat muscle ratio.

MUscle mass is different when you dont eat carbs like the power lifters and instagram bodybuilders. You really just want to hit that ideal wieght first, you will have muscle defintion by then, and from there, you can work on mass. Mainly with hypertrophy strength training, and most likely from there, an increase of protein.

Oops I changed my weight picture. I posted last week's instead of todays. I also have a brand new scale, that is accurate.

I'm just now seeing this thread. Very cool.

I've been raw milk fasting 5 days a week, refeeds on weekends. I posted my refeed meal yesterday in the food thread.

This has taught me that it isn't necessary to eat every day. I'm perfectly fine eating only on weekends. I also learned I appreciate having my food more and it tastes even better after not eating all week.

My refeeds are in a sense carnivore some weekends but ketovore other weekends because I do eat and drink fermented products like cultured raw butter, kombucha, kim chi, yogurt... Anything fermented and I do make my own fermented products too. I don't eat or drink plant based foods that have not been fermented, as I see no benefits to it that can outweigh the negatives for my body.

Here is a picture of how long I fasted this week and if anyone is interested in following my weight loss, let me know and I will also post my latest weigh in pix. I have a lot to lose so it will be worth knowing me and watching my progress, my set backs and so on.

I began weighing in at 357. Today I'm 320. I feel so much more flexible, extra bounce in my step. I've thrown away some clothes. My eye glasses have been sliding down my nose. My shoe size is smaller.

I've had some issues with my shoulders, elbows and knees arise from fasting as long as I have, probably a nutritional deficiency but I tackle that as well as I can with extra nutritious refeeds and fermented food and a couple of supplements.

Refeeds consist of a lot of organ meats from ruminant animals, cod liver, sardines, salmon, chicken livers and gizzards, lamb, goat milk and goat cheese, etc.

I use iodine drops in my everyday water, I just began taking B¹, I take omega 3s too and use a nicotine patch.

I had a hard time last month with carnivore month. I just couldn’t get it in gear. I even put on weight and about an inch or so it felt that way. Then around the end of the month I got sick and that helped reset everything for me.
This has been my weight this month so far.

164.0  164.2  166.0  164.8  164.6  164.0  165.0  163.8

I’ve had very little problems staying away from dairy.  The cravings are getting less and easier to control.
I have been able to only eat once a day around noon and it’s been carrying me over till the next day around noon.
Today I had one pound of venison hamburger and four eggs.

I've been fasting most of my life, I only generally eat twice or once a day. At first it wasn't because of a diet or wanting to fast it was more so because I just wasn't hungry and when I would try to force myself to eat more or more frequently I would get sick so my doctor suggested I just stick to eating twice to one time a day making sure I get enough nutrients to sustain myself for the day.

I find fasting can be very healthy if done right and would suggest fasting for most people.

And when in low carb , you get your fuel from your body fat storage via ketones, the better the longer you fast. Ketones are excellent fuel. Dietary nutrients are not necessary for a few days when you are properly fat adapted -I usually do a 48 hour fast every week,no food on Monday. Otherwise  OMAD.

Tuesdays are always wonderful "Superhuman-days" for me. I wake up early, no hunger and lots of effortless exercise all day. Just great. Water and electrolytes. I measure ketones morning / evening, they go lower during the no food day. Glucose goes up. And I have many heart probs like failure and continuous Afib.

Oh wow congrats! Looks like it's really been working for you 😃 I've been feeling like once a day is good enough for me, I do sometimes go a day without eating but by the second day I am starving. I used to have the opposite problem when I was younger (early teens) where I could go two days without eating and it was nothing, now I feel like I get bad headaches if I try to go more than one day without eating.

Thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate it and it helps me stay on track.

I am not much on making plans but I am planning to do a fast next week when I am on nightshift. I'm going to eat on Tuesday night and then Friday night.

The last time I fasted I was perfectly fine for 71 hours and at the 71 hour mark I hit a wall. The energy was fine one minute and totally zapped the next. I went form not feeling hungry at all to feeling completely empty, drained of fuel and really hungry. I thought at some point I would feel a drain or start feeling hungry but i was expecting it to be gradual no all of a sudden.

My plan is to take blood sugar tests before and after I eat Tuesday night around 8PM. Then every six hours or so throughout each night I am working (will sleep thru most of the day).

At some point after that I plan to do another but either when I am off work or on dayshift to compare the differences. I don't make it to the gym when on night shift so I am interesting to see how I fair working out while on a fast.

I've intermittent fasted most days this month, but not all of them. I'm still trying to make it a routine. Sometimes it depends on my dinner. If I eat late I will eat light, and therefore will be hungry come morning.

I know I still have to film the drawing for the January winner. I've just been busy, plus I had an accident that left a large gash on my forhead that I really don't want to see on camera, lol 😛

Oh that itty bitty gash ain’t that bad. That and the beard just makes you look more carnivore manly.
