Hi folks.

Just joined and wanted to say howdy right proper.  My screen name is appropriate, as I have always been a skeptic, which is (I believe) why I am where I am now.  I've been carnivore for about 2 years so far, and nicely fat adapted.  Type 1 diabetic, but I have my A1C down to 6.1 from the 8.9 it was 4 years ago!  Cholesterol IS elevated, but I understand that is to be expected rather than feared.  No statins for me.  I feel good, and it FEELS good to find this place with other like minded people.

After doing a lot of reading here in the last day or so, I have to say that I have been encouraged to join the group.  Good info and enthusiasm, with real honest replies.  I love it!

Looking forward to it.

Welcome aboard John the @Skeptic 🙂

We try to be a reasonable bunch over here.

I imagine as a Type 1, you've had a more challenging juggling act over the years than the rest of us would be familar with.

Welcome to Carnivore Talk John the Skeptic. Glad to have you aboard.
I think it’s a very good defense mechanism to be skeptical. It can help you from getting scammed and makes you want to do your own research.
We have another T1 diabetic on here that new to carnivore and I believe you could be a big help to him.

I appreciate the kind replies.  As a T1, there have been struggles, yes, but ultimately I think it has led me to a different (perhaps spelled "deeper") understanding of the carnivore diet.  Glad to be here, and hope I can bring some of my experience to the table, while gaining some answers to questions I will surely have going forward.

Yeah I am new here too and have T1D. I was diagnosed T1D several years ago (middle aged adult) so I used to be a “normie” who could just eat whatever I pleased! lol

My A1C is at 7.0% and my goal is 5.5%

Another goal is to get in shape and have a fit body. I need to lose about 25 pounds of fat and get my body toned up and more attractive.

It has taken me a TON of research trying to learn how to manage T1D. These first several years I could not figure out how to do strenuous exercise without getting low blood glucose. So although I’ve been active I always avoided breaking a sweat so it was rarely high intensity enough that my body needs.

So I went to a running group. Before the exercise of running around the track I ate like 20 rolls of Smarties trying to keep up with the low blood sugar. Had a Snickers bar and some Reese’s peanut butter cups and I was still going low, as if no amount of sugar would make up for the exercise. And it was light jogging with walking half the time.

I’d really like to learn how to extend my exercise sessions and not be on a roller coaster ride with blood sugars.

T1D is super isolating. I’ve had T1D for years now and still do not know any T1D in my personal life. I met a diabetes group from online and it seemed too dysfunctional of a group.

Like others here I was also banned from a Reddit forum for carnivores. They are ban happy over there. That was like a year ago and now I found this forum.
