  • Aww heck no!  Nothing causes me to lose my appetite quicker than to bite into an eggshell. One crunch and that meal is over, finished, kaput, done.

  • I'm that way with fish bones

Our dog gets a big dose of ground up eggshells in every batch of her homemade food. I found I can't grind them fine enough for human consumption even using a Vitamix. I added some to a bowl of ground beef once and it was TOO crunchy while eating 😂

I've seen on Youtube if you crack your eggs with the back of a knife instead of the bowl edge, that is supposed to help make a clean break in the shell. I have never tried it though, so ...........

I just learned this too, just in the past year! I crack them against the counter or another flat surface. When you do it on the edge of the bowl it shoves eggshells inside, but not so on a flat surface I have also learned that if you lightly crack the eggs on the fat end just before boiling they are much easier to peel.

I do my hard boiled eggs in my instapot and they will peel like a dream every time. high pressure for 8 minutes, then 8 minutes natural release, then into cold/ice water for 8 minutes. Just made a batch about 10 minutes ago for our homemade dog food and my wife said "wow, do these peel easy".

I use instant pot for 8 minutes too, but I try to quick release. The cracked eggs "eggspan", but then contract in the ice water. Sometimes they blow up, but I just eat the one or two that do right off.
