  • I do drink during the ride an electrolyte mix, but after the ride I drink more coffee, I think I need more electrolytes, going back on Thursday and try to drink more.

That will be based on you. I prefer to eat after going to the gym. I go really early in the morning, come home for a walk and then eat later in the morning, closer to noon.

I'm not sure eating before or after will change being sore.

I have found that keeping my fat content up helps me with energy and being fat adaptive the protein is there for repair and recovery, at least most of it. The energy helps me push thru and I don't think I feel as sore as I remember from way back when (and maybe doing less work in the gym way back when).

Interesting topic.

I don’t generally workout hard but I do prefer to eat afterwards.

Your soreness may not be food related. You may be lacking in electrolytes.

Coffee contains caffiene which is a diaredic,, which will remove water from your muscles. Drink extra water, and keep on with your electrolytes. To reduce sore muscles, take a cold shower instead of a hot one. Wait a half hour after exercise though. To reduce muscle soreness, make sure you hit your protein needs and lastly, your 8 hours of sleep. Drink water if you drink coffee, it's woth the trait off.
