I started the Carnivore diet just about three days ago and so far its pretty good once i got over the Keto flu. My cravings for carbs is down from before and am beginning to feel more energetic. I lost a lot of weight on the Keto diet a few years ago, got off track and gained quite a few pounds back. I began the Carnivore diet weighing in at about 178lbs. My goal is to get to about 155 lbs.

I am not a 100% strict Carnivore, but use herbs, spices, and cheeses, eggs and butter in my cooking in addition to anything else that might enhance the flavor [ e.g. a couple whole garlic cloves added to a stew before cooking and removed after cooking] without adding carbs except in trace amounts < 1g. I have cooked for decades and am a good cook and I am good at figuring out my own recipies. And although Carnivore cooking is quite restrictive, the thing i want to explore as a Carnivore Chef is using minimal amounts of herbs and spices along with the vast variety of cheeses out there in the world to enhance the flavors of carnivore cuisine and make awesome tasting carnivore meals. My reasoning is that herbs, spices, flavorful cheeses, and aromatics are the only way i can see to enhance flavors in the Carnivore diet without comprimising its core function of better health and wellbeing.

I plan on posting my own recipies in the recipe section. f you are looking for more carnivore diet recipies with the parameters that i listed above, please keep checking the recipe section, as I plan on posting there frequently. I made a meal last evening, it was so delicious and satisfying. Blue Cheese Beef Stew. I will post the recipe there as soon as i get it written up.

I have been straight meats for the first 12-13 months of my 14-months on carnivore. last month I had BBQ chicken and the week before I ate a leftover steak that had steak sauce.

I use salt liberally but hardly ever use pepper.

I am sure the recipes will go over very well as variety/fighting the boredom of just meats is a big thing for a lot of people.

The Carnivore Police might stop by to make sure you are following the "rules". LOL

Welcome and look forward to something new.

Hi, started carnivore this week and down 6 pounds. I am starting to understand how this works. I am binge watching videos online all week to listen to experts and other seasoned people that have been doing carnivore. I made it through the week at work and home. I did not let anyone know so I would not be sabotaged by naysayers while trying this out and no one even noticed. 🙂 I felt energized all week except for one day a little nausea🤕. I am putting electrolyte drops in my water. So glad to find a community that supports this for this will help me to stay on track, learn and get the support I need to keep going. I look forward to making new carnivore friends. Now I am off to see what the rules are to make sure I don't over step.

In a gist, stay hydrated which can include salts and electrolytes. From there it is more of an elimination diet. The positivity comes from as much what you will not be eating, from there, it is higher fats and moderate proteins.

Getting your medical degree from the Youtube College of Medicine also helps. LOL

Hey, i'm new to the Carnivore diet too, i did Keto and fell off but am back on track. Staying the course can be difficult, with the Carnivore diet especially since there are limitations to what you can eat, but i am up for the task. Hang in there!

Thats can be a good way of staying true to your diet. If that’s what helps you then that’s what’s important. In the beginning I was all into making dishes that resembled my favorite foods that I left behind but over time I found that the meats alone were all I needed to enjoy my food. Of everything I’ve ever eaten in life I found that meat is the only thing I can eat and enjoy all by itself with no enhancements. I guess that’s what happens when you finally get to the point where you start eating for nutrition instead of entertainment.

This morning I had 3 slices of bacon with no nitrites. So good. I also had a 100% beef burger with a slice of swiss cheese on top melted. I am not real strict yet but working towards that. I dropped another 1.8 pounds since yesterday. So I do feel like my metabolism is resetting from what I have been reading. Keeping carbs below 10.

The medical degree from the Youtube College of Medicine comes in handy. You can also get a doctorate from Google. In you spare time youtube can help put a starter on your car and change the heating element in your dryer. Youtube educational opportunities are endless. LOL

Somedays I think back and wonder how we ever survived without the internet.

I agree. I so love that the Google is a library for everything. I am learning so much on the carnivore and keto lifestyles. I can't wait to see the changes from week to week as the healing takes place in my body. I am amazed at myself at not needing bread to make a sandwich with everything. Wish me luck on Week 2 starting today. Disciplining my self day to day. I lost 7.8 lbs of water first week. I see my ankles. I know it may take a while to see ketosis from what I have been reading so I am striving for this. My blood pressure is already getting lower since I stopped taking the med.

Congrats on the 2nd week.

There are a lot of positives with ketosis but you don't have to be deep into ketosis to see positive results. You have made the choice for your body and it will respond accordingly. If we eat sugar and fat with energy in mind the body will choose sugar first and push the fat off to the side for later (in so many words). By removing the sugar the body will use that fat and then your fat/my fat for energy.

Good things continue to happen from there. There will be some weight loss and although I have not seen crazy energy from carnivore like some describe being fat adapted has given me steady and sustained energy. Like, I'm not bouncing off the walls or going 100MPH with overwhelming energy but if I start something I can continue until I finish it without giving out/giving up.

Being slightly into ketosis coupled with walking makes both walking and ketosis even more effective. Since getting the sugar out and the steps in my health has done a 180 from my previous path.

Again, congrats on the 2nd week and the 8lbs.

I plan on posting my own recipies in the recipe section.

That's where I currently sit. While most days I am beef, butter, sausage, and eggs, with salt, I am not averse to seasonings and I still drink diet beverages. A couple times a month the family will go out and I might choose to "cheat" with keto. I'm not anti-plant, but I keep them at a distance and don't let them become my buddies anymore, lol.

Here we're friendly towards anyone who is into a carnivore-centric (i.e. meat-based) diet, whether that's keto, ketovore, animal-based, or strictly flesh only.
