I've been doing carnivore for about 4 months now and I gotta say, I don't know if I will switch back to keto, there is much more clarity, there are 0% food addictions, something that kept popping up with keto and oh man, just the calmness in my head to not think about food anymore. The freedom it gives is incredible.

In the beginning, I mostly woke up at 2-3 AM and couldn't sleep anymore because I didn't eat enough fat and my body was adjusting. I was eating so much meat in the beginning because I was constantly hungry, haha. Now I'm completely adapted, but I just wake up at 3-3:30 every night. Mostly 3 AM exactly, not even a minute late. After that, sometimes I can keep sleeping, but I keep waking up a little bit and then sleep some more. When I check my Oura ring, I wake up around 4-5 times.

I tried experimenting with some things like kefir and berries. I also quit caffeïne and quit eating at 3 PM to experiment. But for some reason, this keeps happening, even when I take magnesium and cherry tart supplements before sleep. I'm also very tired at 9-10 PM if I'm not behind a computer or anything. This didn't happen before I did carnivore.

Now I feel good and have enough rest I guess. I can work a lot in the day and have energy for other things, but I like to sleep 7-8 hours straight. Do more people experience this?

I am nearly in the same boat as you.
I haven’t been one of the carnivores that get a great nights sleep.
I only get 4-5 hours sleep a night. I will wake up multiple times throughout the night. If I go to bed at 10 I will wake up by 2. If I go to bed around 11 or 12 I’ll wake up around 3 or 4. I’ll go back to sleep if I can but sometimes it’s just impossible. It’s pretty much guaranteed I’m going to get up a 5 am. I like getting up at 5 because it gives me about 2 hours alone time before anyone gets up to do my devotionals, Bible study and reading.
I’m retired but it doesn’t seem to matter how hard I work that day or how little it’s always the same.
I’ve spend pretty much all my life getting up between 3 and 5 in the morning so I just figured it’s a habit for me.
I also start getting tired around 9 pm myself but I don’t dare go to bed too early.
I’m I eat pretty strict carnivore and while I used to take a magnesium complex I haven’t taken any in over a month now. There’s been no change either way.
I emphasize with you but I have no idea how to change it.

I'm the same but maybe not so much carnivore.

I am a lifelong shift worker. I'm 55 and never had a dayshift/first shift job. When working nights, I am usually asleep by 9:30 or so and sleep like a rock til 3:30/4PM. Unfortunately, it is the same when I work dayshift. I get home, feed up, and get in the bed by 9PM/9:30. At 3:30AM or so I am awake.

I have not had any of the 'mental clarity' people speak of with carnivore. But....when I wake up at 3, whether it be day or night, I am immediately awake and ready to go. Since carnivore I don't wake up sluggish or drag myself out of bed. Eyes open-ready to go.

I credit carnivore for the ready to go feeling but I am not sure if that leans toward the mental clarity.

Yup @Scott F. basically if you don't meander around scratching your head "did I forget something " you sir are enjoying the mental clarity from carnivore like the rest of us.

I have been sleeping whenever I'm tired since surgery continued until probably 1st of January.

January 1st is balls to the wall getting into shape and hopefully finding pt work.

And here we are. It is a little after 4AM and I laid around for a bit hoping to fall back asleep. Seldom does that happen. When I wake up, I wake up.

Maybe on the clarity. I don't feel anymore focused or alert than before. I am sleeping basically the same number of hours for a bunch of years but after a month or so with carnivore it feels like a higher quality sleep. Much higher.

My sleep patterns are work induced and that covers my days off as well. Every so often, especially if I do 5 or 6 12 hour days shifts, I will sleep 8 to 9 hours which sort of throws my cycle off. Almost like a catching up on sleep.

Since carnivore my energy levels are maintained higher even with my crazy sleep patterns. When my eyes open my feet hits the floor. I may lay around a bit as to not wake up my wife but that ship sailed years ago.

Great topic. Great conversation.

Either carnivore made me biphasic, or it was getting a new puppy, lol. But yes, I doze off in my recliner about 11pm or midnight, then I wake up at 3am, let the dog out, maybe shower, and then go to my actual bed and sleep some more from 4am-7:30am. It's every single night.

I just kinda accept it as my new normal now, a year and half into it.
