Motorbikes,anyone?
I've entertained the idea of learning to ride a motorcycle. My wife isn't keen on the idea though. I have a friend who rides all the time, and he actually discouraged it on the basis that I am 49, and it would have been different if I had been riding since I was a teenager as it would be second nature. But being older, I would be more likely to have poorer reaction time or midjudge scenarios simply from lack of experience.

I recently found a new pharmacy near me
We used to have a place called Kirby's Meats here in Stow but it closed down before I was a carnivore, so I never frequented the place. As of now, I am aware of 2 locations for locally sourced meat.... Duma Meats in Mogadore https://dumameats.com/ ^ These guys are the KING! And I will plug them every time I can. Buckeye Quality Meats in Streetsboro https://www.bqmfresh.com/ ^ Comparable to Duma's but a much smaller store and smaller scale operation, and therefore more pricey. They can't match Duma's on price because Duma pushes so much volume. If you are struggling to think of variety on your carnivore diet, a walk through these places will fill your mind with all kinds of ideas.

Carnivore provides some hassles
The 1 area where I might encounter seed oils while dining out is my steak. My first year, I was that guy that inquired on how to they cooked steak and was very adamant about only cooking in real butter or over an open flame, etc. Now I don't even inquire. I figure that once, maybe twice a month potential exposure isn't worth fussing about. I've seen Bart Kay and others say the same thing about themselves as well. Then the 1 area where I'm definitely getting exposure to seed oil when I dine out is if I opt for buffalo wings. I can only think of one area wing restaurant that fries in beef tallow, and there's a darn good chance that almost all the rest of them are deep frying in seed oils. But I have wings maybe once every other month at best, so again, not worth fussing over for me.

Managing the electrolytes?
Many capsules of any kind are made from vegetable cellulose. The rice hull extract is probably acting as a binding agent to ensure the proper distribution of active ingredients (because they make this stuff in giant batches and then have to load each capsule). I'm not sure what the flaxseed oil is for. But, we're talking trivial amounts that yes, I don't think it worth worrying over for 99.99% of people. Some capsules can be made of gelatin, which is an animal product.

Managing the electrolytes?
Sounds like good practice. Your getting the big 3, sodium, potassium, and magnesium. I don't take potassium because one of my kidney/BP medications is Losartan Potassium, so my potassium always runs high. But I do salt to taste and I take this magnesium complex at bedtime... https://www.amazon.com/Zentastic-Triple-Magnesium-Relaxation-Absorption/dp/B0BC84FL5C

Are these compatible with the carnivore diet? Ketovore diet?
For a true carnivore diet, yes, they all need to go. But for other variations of a carnivore-centric diet, it depends.... As long as you keep your actual carb count under 10g per day on average, then you could use all those things. Anything that comes from a plant, lol. Particularly, roots, stems, leaves, and seeds will contain the most plant toxins, which may or may not impact you in small quantities, depending on your personal physiology.
-
Managing the electrolytes?
I think that is fine for most people. The squeeze of lemon will have some trace sugar (fructose) but if that's all your getting I wouldn't sweat it. This depends on you and your goals as well as personal physiology. If you are just trying to lose weight, it's gonna be fine. If you have severe auto-immune conditions you are trying to reverse, you might want to tighten things up and be a strict carnivore for a while. The same applies to electrolyte products that have some trace "natural flavors" or small amounts of artificial sweetener. Most people will be just fine and shouldn't fear these things. But then there are a small minority of others who even react to these things. For the record, you can take your electrolytes in pill form. I take a magnesium supplement, and salt my food to taste with every meal, and I do just fine.

Eight years 90% carnivore and 51 years old
Nice description. This is very similar to how I am. Welcome aboard, btw :) Yeah, sometimes when I eat off plan I will have stomach pain. From my male perspective they might as well be birth pangs, lol. Usually it's followed up by an explosive exit while sitting in the bathroom. It could be the dairy/lactose, or the sugar, or simply the combination of the two.

I've heard Dr. Berry say the same thing. He says agreeing to take a low dose rosuvastatin (5mg) can be a decent compromise between you and your doctor. As far as natural alternatives, I've been reading up on Citrus Bergamot. Supposedly it's effective for LDL and trigs. I'm interested in the trigs portion of that. I could care less about my LDL.

New to the forum but not to carnivore
When you're not fat adapted (which can take a LONG time, btw) then the body still has this habitual preference for carbs/sugars/glucose. They can easily and quickly get ushered into the cells via insulin and used for energy. In due time, the cravings will subside, and you should find yourself always having the energy to push through without experiencing a complete crash. He is awesome. And sure, some plants are trying to kill you. Some are trying harder than others, and many simply aren't doing a great job with their murderous intent, lol. The human body in general should capable of dealing with or healing from the occasional oxalate (which your body produces), lectin, etc. Of course, this is individual. Some people have very low tolerances for these and should avoid them. The principle with keto (20), ketovore (10), carnivore (0), and even low-carb animal-based (<100) is that they are supposed to be carnivore-centric, meat-based. Where you are going to have issues is when your diet becomes plant-based, or fruit-based, or carb-based (>100). Right. And the "fell off the wagon" mentality can be dangerous. What we don't want to do is then choose to blow the rest of the day or the week and say things to yourself like "I'll start again tomorrow" or "I'll start again Monday". You literally start again your very next meal. It was just an apple - and not a whole bucket of sugary ice cream.

Cravings.
Learn to make brown butter bites. You will either love me... or hate me because they are addictive, lol.

Cravings.
I would lean more towards @Geezy's that it's a memory craving. But if it is your body telling you something, the first thing that comes to mind is that it's a potassium rich fruit, and so I would ask if you take any electrolytes. Many new carnivores benefit from electrolytes their first few months, and then in time no longer need them. Honey dew is also 90% water. Are you plenty hydrated? The reason why those new to carnivore o keto can sometimes use electrolyte is because they are retaining less water, because you aren't consuming carboHYDRATEs <-- see that in there? :D I agree with this. God made the pear. He did not make the Snickers bar. ;)

Hello everyone :)
I always thought that what they call "minced-meat" in other lands is the same as what we refer to as "ground beef" here. I just looked it up and learned I was wrong, lol.

GLP-1 Ozempic VS Carnivore Diet
This would make sense. Taking GLP-1 injections makes you less hungry. You feel full, so you eat less. That includes less protein and essential fats and nutrition, which would lead to muscle breakdown. On a low carbohydrate carnivore-centric proper human diet, you produce GLP-1 naturally (which is why we seem to automatically eat 2MAD or have periods of fasting, unlike before when we would constantly snackety-snack), but you are getting your nutrition and protein requirements.

Freaked out
Only if you want to satisfy some curiosity. It could go one of 2 ways. You get the CAC and your calcified plaque build-up is low. You can feel relieved and go about your business. You can then get another one X(?) years down the road, and map your progression. OR, you get the CAC and the score is higher than desired. You have no choice but to go about your business, but now you are stress because that number is always sitting in the back of your mind, lol. So this depends on your personality-type. I personally want to get one, and I can get one for free near me (thanks to someone who made a huge donation to a local hospital), just because I'm a numbers/statistics guy. I don't imagine I would change anything if my number was high. I'm eating what God/nature intended humans to eat, and my issues revolve around my kidneys. I could take the transplant way out, but I am banking on whole foods first.

Suing a Doctor for Prescription-Related Harm - A Kidney Update
Should I sue my doctor? In this video, I update my audience with my recent blood test results to show whether or not my kidneys are recovering from the damage caused by the prescription drug fenofibrate that was prescribed to me from my doctor for my high triglycerides. Some of you are strongly suggesting that I sue him for medical negligence/malpractice. I provide my current thoughts on taking that legal course of action in this video. GLP-1 Ozempic VS Carnivore Diet
When Ozempic didn't work, I went on a diet doctors warn against... the results speak for themselvesBy LUKE ANDREWS SENIOR HEALTH REPORTER FOR DAILYMAIL.COM Published: 12:15 EDT, 22 April 2025 | Updated: 14:30 EDT, 22 April 2025 At 635lb and struggling to walk, Pete Brennan knew something needed to change. Showing people houses for his realtor job left him panting and with shooting pains through his knees and feet that would last hours. His wife had to assume all cooking and cleaning duties at home, leaving him feeling useless and worthless. Brennan, 39, nearly missed his own wedding, narrowly avoiding being ordered off the plane to Mexico because he was too large to fit into the single passenger seat. But the breaking point came when Brennan fell in the shower and was unable to stand up, having to ask his five-year-old son Nolan to help him. 'It just kind of made me realize that being selfish, and letting go of myself like I was, that really wasn't the right thing to do,' Brennan told the Daily Mail. The New Jersey native has now successfully shed more than half his body weight, or 352lbs, in two years while following a diet almost all doctors advise against. The 'carnivore diet' involves eating only meat products like steak, chicken, eggs, butter and fish. Brennan is pictured above around his heaviest at 635lbs with two clients. He works as a realtor helping to sell houses Peter 'Francis' Brennan, 39, has embarked on a mammoth weight loss to slash his weight from 635 to below 250lbs. He is currently at 283lbs, and is pictured above this month The high levels of fats and low carbohydrates puts the body into ketosis, a state where it burns bodyfat instead of carbohydrates for energy. Many doctors, including Brennan's, warn people not to use the diet saying that it can cause high levels of LDL or bad cholesterol. This can cause plaques to build-up in the arteries, restricting blood flow and raising the risk of complications like high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and a heart attack — which he was already at risk of. Some, however, say it's a life changer, including podcaster Joe Rogan and controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson. Advocates say the carnivore diet allows them to lose weight rapidly and boost their energy levels, sleep and sexual performance. Brennan said he now consumes three meals a day, with each weighing six ounces and composed entirely of eggs mixed with sliced chicken and turkey sausages. He aims to get in about 130 to 170 grams of protein daily, well above the US National Dietary Guidelines recommendation of about 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight — or 101 grams a day for Brennan, who weighs 283lbs. For snacks, he consumes peanuts and cottage cheese — which aren't strictly part of the carnivore diet but are used in the keto diet to keep burning fat for energy. He doesn't consume red meat amid concerns that it could cause colon cancer and type 2 diabetes. Brennan shown in the gym this month Brennan started on the carnivore diet in June 2024, after spending a year and four months on Wegovy — injecting himself once a week. He also had gastric sleeve surgery in June 2024, when the stomach is surgically reduced to limit the amount of food someone can consume. Surgeons were shocked operating on him, saying at the time that his stomach was three foot long — or about three times the average size for a person. The drugs caused him to lose 167lbs in a year and four months, which he used alongside a restrictive diet and exercise six times a week. But the diet and surgery is what really yielded the results, leading him to lose an extra 185lbs the following nine months. His current weight is now 283lbs, which at 5ft 11in still puts him in the obese category with a BMI above 30. When he started his weight loss, his BMI was 88 — putting him in the category of severely obese. He aims to get his weight below 250lbs before December — and then reach his goal of weighing between 200 and 225lbs. But despite the enormous success he has had, Brennan confessed he isn't feeling nearly as confident as he should — and its all down to the massive amount of loose skin hanging off his body. When someone puts on a large amount of weight, the skin stretches to accommodate the new size. It may then struggle to return to its original size if someone later loses the weight. In Brennan's case, his loose skin is 'everywhere' — hanging off his chest, stomach, back, legs, arms, neck and his face. It isn't clear how much it weighs. Peter is pictured above at the start of his weight loss journey. He has been posting his workouts online 'I don't feel as confident as I should be after doing what I've done,' he said, 'just because I know it is just hanging there'. 'It's not how a normal person should look, I look like I've melted. 'Like, if it wasn't there I would be wearing smaller size clothes, and my legs wouldn't be as hidden.' As well as getting in the way, the skin can also chafe against itself and clothing — causing him to develop painful rashes that take days to clear up. His health insurance covered the Wegovy and gastric sleeve surgery, but has declined to cover the skin removal, saying this is cosmetic. With the mammoth procedure needed, doctors have estimated it will cost $90,000 — which he is fundraising for online. He says he is also considering taking out a loan to cover the rest. He also had surgery to remove a hernia at his belly button, with a hernia being when part of the intestine, fat or fluid pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall and creates a visible bulge. Hernias may happen because of increased pressure in the abdomen, which may be caused by straining during bowel movements or obesity. He had had the hernia for ten to 15 years, but it had not previously been possible to treat it owing to his weight. Pete Brennan, 39, New Jersey, is pictured above at the start of his weight loss journey at 635lbs and today after getting his weight down to 283lbs. The structure in the middle of his stomach is a hernia, which he has now had removed Brennan is thrilled with his weight loss, but said his confidence has been hit by his loose skin Amid all the weight loss, Brennan said his life is transformed — with himself now able to help around the house and having a lot more energy. He also works out six times a week, focusing on a combination of cardio and weight-lifting, and said people no longer stare at him in the street, like they did when he was much larger. A number of people viewing his photos have said they don't want to lose weight because of the loose skin, but Brennan urged them to reconsider. He said: 'I would say you just need to put the excuse aside and think more long term about how beneficial it is going to be on your life and how much longer you are going to be able to live. 'And guess what, you can get rid of loose skin with surgery...' He added: 'Once you're past making excuses and are actually doing it, you will start to love it and start to love the new self you are turning into.'
