  1. That's my mom. She smoked from 9 ish to 21- thank God she quit. My Dad was a closet smoker. I was a closet smoker after my daughter was born. I started in early 1990's and quit in 2008. I also prefer boards/forums to the scrolling type media. This type is 💯 based on interaction and scrolling media is really just for transmitting/bragging.
  2. B/L: chicken livers, smoked herring and decaf d: ribeye.
  3. Hi I'm a bit late to this party, but was wondering how you are doing with you carnivore journey?
  4. I tried wfpb in 2017 but was never really happy with the food. My search for answers to vegan problems led me to the anti-vegan algorithms and then into fasting and carnivore. I have been watching from the sidelines and dabbling since 2020. I thought fasting was going to be my answer, but the eat whatever you want in a 5 hour window just wasn't working for me. I began to develop hormonal symptoms and carnivore has alleviated some and reversed some. Also I just feel overall happier.
  5. Hello and welcome to the community! I have attempted carnivore off and on since 2020. This past February I restarted and did as Bart Kay recommends to gradually reduce the SAD foods rather than cold turkey and this time I seem to have hit a good stride. I haven't lost any weight other than post winter holidays fluff, but I feel very encouraged by other things like energy and reduced joint and muscle pain. I am also less bothered by what others think about my plate than I have been in the past. I used let that uncomfortable feeling control my choices. I just love how happy carnivores tend to be and want more of it.
  6. My husband randomly stopped by his parents house and found this exact situation. Mil was cooking sausage in oil🤢
  7. B:Braised Chuck steak. Bacon. L:Short ribs. D:Burger Patty with chicken liver and pickles.
  8. I was at a small luncheon yesterday. I brought my own food. This is my first experience at gathering of this type where I didn't cave into eating "normally." The hostess had put out fixings for sandwiches. I had assembled my double burger patty pickle & bacon sandwich, with hardboiled egg on the side. Hostess asked me if I was sure I didn't want any bread. Yes, but that wasn't enough, she asked if it was the gluten. No. She persisted to peck. So I just blurted out that I was avoiding sugar. I feel like Baby in Dirty Dancing. "I carried a watermelon." She continued a bit more and I just explained that sugar gives me the blues. I did say something about alcoholics not drinking mocktails: seemed to shut her up for a bit, but she did find two more times in the afternoon to sprinkle me with sweet ridicule. It is clear my abstinence made her feel uncomfortable. In retrospect, I regret mildly, not spreading the carnivore good news, but I felt put on the spot and uncomfortable. I just wanted the attention off me in the moment. I just wanted to eat in peace and enjoy conversation that was not centered on my plate. I have had better luck fasting during these things. I think people feel less offended if you just abstain from eating altogether rather than rejecting their food for something else. Have you had any digs a dinner party's? How have you reacted? I know there will be much more of this coming up in the cook out season ahead, this was just a little practice run. Any advice would be appreciated.
  9. I wanted to melt some cheese on some pork rinds. I don't have a functional microwave. I put the pork rinds on a pampered chef stone and placed them under the broiler. They caught fire!
  10. I do prefer the glass storage containers, but man are they a pain to store. Its hard to nest glass containers inside each other without chips eventually happening. I did purchase glass quart pitchers with lids to store iced tea in. I found one of them in a really cool hardware store in a small town that had a bit of everything. The other one I got at Walmart and it looks like a wine carafe they have at restaurants. https://www.amazon.com/Anchor-Hocking-93411-Pitcher-Stopper/dp/B00HU8N4OE/ref=sr_1_6?crid=346IYSS96XKVY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.6jR4kTXN3OWkNumlysAIDRhEOOHnyjiKrDJyEl6u8zQ3y8rDa7n8Kx6XJnnvnfYv5VvAPpN5a3hurptHpHmmqiSqL9Tn4d-fFyKSLBLNTr14eQUZMXD6tdZhmHW01zVJVYJfgrTOR3yQajGC3SBpR5juHEvDOyXYp2KL7YFTqJ-Q90I9jfEwl6oLtRBEaJ2i2-9vf-6qBxAlMt61qShx9Bg8NRntFEQkbt02IdItt89YQWW41Co_je9fDudHWluCGP8w8vG2fKCLLFKKXRoPLuAy-Mw78z_YBP19PKchULk.CLRNDaGkx4o8981wbHP9mQsFkhN2NHrciNHrrV5RlhE&dib_tag=se&keywords=anchor+quart+pitcher+with+lid&qid=1714064200&sprefix=anchor+quart+pitcher+with+lid%2Caps%2C346&sr=8-6 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Anchor-Hocking-Glass-Carafe-with-Lid-1-Liter/995850525?athbdg=null%26athbdg%3DL1600_L1600
  11. Excellent journalism! Thank you for sharing!
  12. Since Dr Ken Berry did a video about this a week or so ago and went through my closet to lose some of the polyester clothing. I have made an efforts to carry water in metal for years but still have plastic bottled water on hand for my husband's lunches. I think we are over hydrating most of the time. Even doing those things plastic is unavoidable in daily life. I wonder if we would be having these problems if DuPont didn't suppress the use of hemp in the 30's
  13. this. there is a book out there, written by a joe schmo, that speaks of reversing decay with cod liver. Sorry I can't recall the details.
  14. ADF eating pattern can be a plateau buster, no need to ingest garbage. Just fast for as long as you can and then feast. next time try to fast a bit longer. Some people have strict dogma about having to fast for one day and then having an up day following every down day. Some people like Dr Sean O'Mara fast for 72 hours and then eat lots of meat for the next few days. ADF is proven to fix broken metabolism.
  15. I am just now within the last week experiencing this euphoric type of energy. I have been at this since mid February. I have recently started focusing on eating mostly beef and adding more butter to my decaf. I have quit caffeine coffee over this time as well, so I am supposing my sleep has gotten better.
  16. I also cling to the premise of JOMO...the joy of missing out. I will enjoy not getting the blues from eating those cookies or that cake. I will enjoy missing out on IBS if I avoid that potato salad.
  17. I quit smoking in 2008 before I met my husband. He made me promise to never do it again. And that promise is what has held me at bay on those warm spring days when cigarette smoke smells good to me.
  18. Ketovore: what someone calls themselves when they eat mostly carnivore most of the time but don't want to get blasted on social media for posting a picture of a meal with plants in it.
  19. I agree, but sadly even when you do speak up. They tend to hear things through the filter of being the "smartest" person in the room.
  20. Mince mashup with butter and harvarti cheese. 3 hard boiled eggs and fatty latte
  21. I am right here with you! 50. I have been carnivore with exception of Easter since mid February. I find that fatigue is cycling with the hormones. I am still regular each month. A good resource for woman is Dr Elizabeth Bright.
  22. Yes! At first I thought Redmond's was like a beach picnic, but I guess I have gotten used to it because I don't notice the grit as much anymore.
  23. What part of the store do you find truffles?
  24. I want to try the Maldon's. Right now I use fine Redmond's and I like the large crystals to for licking.
