  1. I wouldn’t worry about it. Those numbers can fluctuate depending on how long you fasted, what you’ve been eating, stress levels and even the time of day. They really aren’t that bad if you consider that carnivore generally raises your cholesterol due to the fact that all of your energy is coming from fat so it only stands to reason them at you will have more fat running around in your blood stream. The only numbers I pay attention to are the Triglycerides and HDL. The ratio of the two together is the true indicator of cardiovascular disease and yours are great.
  2. Here’s a good video to watch.
  3. If you feel the need to snack between meals you may not be eating enough during your meals.
  4. I had cheesecake too but it was carnivore cheesecake. I didn’t have ice cream but when I do it’s carnivore as well.
  5. I use a Victorinox 8” boning knife to process my animals and it keeps a good edge but I’m very good at putting an edge on my knives. Any really good knife is going to be pricey. My kitchen knives are Japanese and very expensive but the do hold an amazing edge. Regardless of what you buy they all will lose their edge if not used properly. A good touch up steel is your best friend in the kitchen.
  6. He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:25, NASB) Happy Easter. May you all be blessed as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord unto our salvation and sanctification.
  7. On a standard American diet full of processed carbs and sugars, high triglycerides are often caused by insulin resistance and excess carb intake. However, on a very low carb carnivore diet, they may be elevated for other reasons: Loss of triglyceride clearance pathways when carbs are restricted Low fiber intake failing to lower triglyceride absorption High intake of saturated fat Weight loss releasing triglycerides from fat cells Underlying conditions like genetics, hypothyroidism, or fatty liver Ideal triglyceride levels: A triglyceride level below 150 mg/dL is considered ideal. Levels between 150-199 mg/dL are borderline high. Having levels between 200-499 mg/dL is considered elevated and higher than 500 mg/dL is very concerning. I personally think you are doing fine since the true indicator of cardiovascular health is your triglyceride to HDL ratio and yours is 1.51 which is very good. But if you want to try and bring it down then here are some tips to help manage high triglyceride levels while following a carnivore diet: Increase your Omega 3 intake Eating more high omega-3 foods like fatty fish, fish roe, oysters, and beef liver can help combat high triglycerides. Omega-3 fats help improve triglyceride clearance. Reduce saturated fat Limiting intake of high saturated fat animal foods like pork, lamb, beef ribeye, cheese, and butter may help lower triglyceride levels. I would look at the cheese first and then look at your fat to protein ratios and also how much fat you are getting from pork and chicken. Focusing on fattier cuts of meat that are high in monounsaturated fat like beef and salmon can help improve triglycerides. As much as I hate to say it…fiber Although fiber is limited on carnivore, options like chia seeds and avocado can help bind to triglycerides and reduce their absorption. Exercise Engaging in aerobic exercise and strength training most days of the week can help lower triglyceride levels over time. Lose weight if your overweight Excess weight is tied to high triglycerides. Losing weight through the carnivore diet can lower triglyceride levels. Underlying conditions Getting conditions like hypothyroidism, diabetes, and fatty liver under control can all help lower excessive triglycerides. Protein levels Overeating protein can raise triglycerides in some people. Try reducing protein portions if levels remain very elevated. Supplements Supplements like fish oil, berberine, curcumin, and vitamin E may help support healthy triglyceride levels. There are no cookie cutter answers to this so you need to evaluate these things in your life and see if anything might be contributing. Good luck.
  8. Well I do have a military background. 😁
  9. Welcome Christine. As Bob said we need more information about your triglycerides. It would also help to know how you eat.
  10. Well I certainly hope that goes mainstream. Of course we’ve known this for some time now but it needs to become mainstream news for the masses. Any bets on how quickly it gets shoved under the rug?
  11. Welcome to Carnivore Talk Mathew. I’ve seen this a lot in people who get off carnivore and then try to get back on track. I don’t know why this happens but it does seem like the body is saying “Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you”. There’s a common understanding in the carnivore community that you must eat enough to lose weight. If you don’t your body will go into starvation mode and retain fat as a hedge against leaner times. That may be why you aren’t seeing the weight loss you expect. You also may not be getting enough fat either. If your main food is hamburger and you are not pouring the rendered fat back over the burger as a sauce then I guarantee you aren’t getting enough fat. I don’t care how much fat is in the burger most of it renders out in the cooking. Try to eat an equal amount of fat and protein. Shoot for 1 gm of fat to 1 gm of protein per your ideal body weight. Another though also, with working shift work like you are do you get good sleep? I know I didn’t when I had to work nights. Poor sleep can raise cortisol levels and that can definitely have an effect on weight loss. Hang in there and give it time. Focus on the benefits you are receiving and try to remember that nothing tastes as good as how you feel.
  12. I thought something looked different.
  13. During my devotional yesterday I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to fast as a spiritual remembrance of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ for my sins and then feast in celebration on the day of His rising from the dead to sanctify my salvation.
  14. I’m in the middle of a long fast as I post this. Lol!
  15. Fasting so no food for me until Easter.
  16. I could but it’s a family friendly site. 😉
  17. Oh I’m a big time fat eater and I did the magnesium citrate route and it definitely helped but the consistency of the stools were like peanut butter. Not pleasant at all. I switched to a magnesium complex and it was what worked best for me. After about a year everything straitened itself out and I don’t have to take anything any more. Occasionally I’ll get a hard stool but it generally passes easy enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Practicing the 6 P’s of success. Good job. When we do without something for a time that is toxic to us I believe we develop a sensitivity to it. It’s a good deterrent to keep from getting hooked on it again. Have a good ride and keep the dirty side down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Now yer talking. Thats a good haul. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I felt with constipation for a year. I don’t have a gall bladder so I believe that was my issue. I handled mine by taking a magnesium complex supplement that contained magnesium citrate. After a year it strained out on its own.
  21. Ox tail are fantastic. It’s one of the first things I cook when I slaughter a beef.
  22. There is no doubt in my mind that you CAN do this as long as you are motivated to succeed. It’s more about the mindset than it is the diet.
