The LMNT Controversy
It’s been a touchy subject for LMNT. From my understanding the amount that was in their formula was very minuscule and was not going to be a factor in anyone’s diet but the company that was making it for them was putting too much in the formula. They were having their product independently tested when it was discovered and they made it known publicly that they had messed up. That speaks well to their integrity. When I was using LMNT I only used the plain version so it never should have affected me as it was only in their flavored versions.

Eating when your only hungry, versus eating when you know you need to eat?
What you are experiencing is normal. Early man never ate by the clock. He ate when he was hungry and when he did he gorged himself. When I first became carnivore I only ate when I was hungry and that would usually be just once a day. So I was going about 23 hours every day without food and I thrived. Once I lost all I intended to lose I had to be careful to make sure I was eating enough to maintain my weight. Im still eating when I get hungry but now that I’ve listened most of my excess fat my body is requiring more food so if I know I’m going to have a hard day of work I’ll eat a small fatty meal a couple of hours after I wake up and then a good meal in the evening. Both times I’ll be a little hungry but not ravenous. I never weigh out my food or track it. I just make sure I’m getting plenty of fat with each meal. I just go by how I feel. My body tells me what I need.

TTMA Rendering fat
The fat we use to make fat bites out of is the solid fats from cuts of meat after we’ve rendered the liquid out. Those you can get crispy. The liquid fat you cannot get crispy and will always be liquid or if cooked down solidified as you’re witnessing. The only things you can do with that fat is drink it along with the broth, which you already said you don’t care for, use it for cooking such as frying meat or eggs. Be prepared though as that fat when using for frying will not be clean and the higher heat will case the impurities to sizzle and pop. Still tastes great though. To get those impurities out you could try filtering it through a coffee filter but that can be a slow and messy process. About the only other thing you can do with it is feed it to your carnivore pets if you have any.

I’m working my way through Over Diagnosed right now along with theee other books not related to diet.- A year and a half of semi carnivore (not to strict) and gaining weight again
You bring up a good point here. 2% milk is mostly sugar. Skim or fat free milk is all sugar. If you are going to drink milk then it’s best to drink whole milk so you are at least getting the benefit of the fat.- What Did You Eat Today?
Busy day today. Besides working on my place I made two pounds of liverwurst. Mixed a pound of venison burger and home grown beef burger together and made hamburger patties which I then smoked along with a brisket. I then started a fresh batch of yogurt that will be ready tomorrow. I made carnivore pancakes for breakfast and made a batch of tallow from some of the fat I trimmed off of the brisket. Carnivore pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Rendering down brisket fat for tallow. Finished tallow and the fat bites left over for snacking on. Finally the finished brisket after a 12 hour smoke. A Texas staple. Ain’t it purdy? Mighty fine eatin right there folks.- Post a picture... Any picture

Welcome Famal, we are glad you could join us. Three things that are hampering your weight loss and causing you to gain weight. Cheese and dairy. When most people stall out on their weight loss journey it’s usually because of dairy. Dairy has a sugar in it called lactose. It can be addictive and easily over eaten. I had to stop dairy for a time because I was eating too much of it myself. Now that I’m maintaining my weight I can eat some dairy but I still have to be careful of it. Alcohol. Alcohol can and will kick you out of ketosis so if you are serious about being metabolically heathy and lose weight you may want to abstain. If you find it difficult to abstain then choose your drink carefully. Beer is the worst thing you can drink and wine comes in a close second. If you must drink then straight sprits are your best bet. No mixed drinks. Vegetables. While vegetables are not the devil per se on carnivore we just don’t see any reason to eat them when they provide no nutritional benefits for us. If you are going to eat them you need to keep the carb count down to 20 grams or less a day. No sauces or seed oils in the cooking. Make sure they are leafy greens and not starchy root vegetables. Best not to eat them at all in my opinion. Anytime you stall out or start gaining then evaluate your diet and often you’ll find the culprit there. Hood luck and good health.- Post a picture... Giving the addicted an excuse to stay addicted.- Just to let you know.
We think of seasonings as be benign or army worst something that may trigger an autoimmune issue but besides that just be aware that those seasonings have carbs. So keep that in mind if you are trying to be zero carb and especially if you are dealing with a plateau.- CHECK YOUR BUTTER.....
Yeah Berry had me going for a minute especially when he said it was a Texas company. I use a butter that’s made here in Texas so he definitely had my attention.- Post a picture... Any picture
I am a carnivore and I don’t care how other people eat and will never tell them that they have to eat like I do unlike the vegans who demand we all conform to their religious way and it is a religion to them. I have met many carnivores that do believe that everyone should eat some kind of ketogenic diet with carnivore being the best but none of them ever try to tell anyone else how to live. We all lead by example. My wife is meat centric but she’s not carnivore but she does believe it’s a proper way to eat and my children are now eating carnivore because they saw the changes in me. I never told them to do it. It is important though that we always have an answer to any question asked and be willing to help anyone who asks.- Post a picture... Any picture

- isn't it ironic....
Great testimony Scott. Educating yourself is the best defense against those who are brainwashed (as we all were at one time) and your personal example is the proof. It’s fun for me to debate the naysayers especially when they come from the ignorance of the mainstream of fake science. I’m a member of Quora and I have several posts to questions about diet and nutrition. The responses I get are hilariously ignorant and it’s fun responding to them but I do find it encouraging when I see how many likes my post generate and the positive responses from those who have had the veil lifted from their eyes.- Totally Agree!
No argument from me.
