Today is the first day of January and is also the first day of World Carnivore Month. To that end, let's challenge ourselves to eat a carnivore diet for the entire month of January. The type of carnivore diet and the level of strictness you choose to do is entirely up to you. Examples of carnivore diets include the following...

1) The Lion Diet. A person eating the Lion Diet only consumes the flesh of ruminant animals, water, and salt.

2) The BBBE Diet. BBBE is an acronym for Beef, Butter, Bacon, and Eggs.

3) The Carnivore Diet. This allows for the consumption of any and all animals and animal by-products, including dairy.

In any of the above examples, the object of course is to not consume any plants as part of your diet. Of course, we're not going to micromanage hoe you prepare your food, so your use of seasonings is entirely your own personal choice.

IF your circumstances don't allow you to go full on carnivore in January, then you can participate in this topic by challenge yourself to do better, above and beyond what you have been doing. For example, if you have still been eating grains, seed oils, refined sugar, or drinking alcohol, challenge yourself to avoid these items and just eat a clean, single ingredient whole foods diet such as clean keto, ketovore, or animal based.

We encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.  Participants in this topic will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the month.

Looks good.

Sort of an off-topic question.

Did you go without the seasonings as you went Carnivore or have you used them all along?

The reason I ask is because I went straight meat, salt and water (other than finishing off some Mountain Dew and Ice Cream the very first week) for the last 8 months.

Recently I tried a couple different sauces and now they are not what they use to be and even one that I liked forever, simply didn't taste good at all.

Still learning. Just wondering.

Thank you,Scott.

I´m ketovore rather than strict carni. At least for now. Those little things like cream in my (butter & coconut oiled) coffee give a couple of carbs. I´m also one of us that needs chillies and other seasonings,I´ve been using them all my life, keto or not.

I’m mostly concerned about the 7 year old. Since meet is all there is, she’s not eating much.

Unfortunately I think we’re all sensitive to dairy so for now we’ll have to hold off.

Is it lactose intolerance? If so, there are a number of cheeses that you can enjoy with little to no lactose at all. Cream cheese is often well-tolerated because it is low in lactose, about 2g per ounce.

A sudden change in diet is difficult for anybody, especially a 7 year old addicted to sweets. This may need to be done gradually. The elimination of grains, seed oils, and refined sugar (i.e. processed food) is your first objective. Most people will do well just eating what nature provides, basically animal products, fruits, and vegetables (especially veggies that are in reality also fruits).

On the other hand, she will eat when she is hungry enough, and if she has any substantial belly/body fat she then she has plenty of fuel in reserve. But even so, we want to see her get proper nutrition.

Thank you for the info on cream cheese - that’s super helpful. She was never a junk food eater. My daughter and her family have always eaten whole, organic foods. No refined sugar or processed foods or seed oils. It’s the fruit and even gluten free bread that makes my granddaughter go crazy. Today she is doing great - like a new child! Cooperative, sweet, loving. It’s kind of amazing!

Carnivore pizza, look that up. Don't be afraid to add a little sauce, especially for kids. Gradual change is the best change, the one that sticks.

Thank you. She’s doing soooo much better!!!

Is she eating yet? Or is this just behavioral improvement being off the carbs?

She ate a lot today - venison patties, carnivore pancakes, carnivore deviled eggs, sausage, lots of butter - in stuff and by itself. Success!

This is taking some faith! I feel like being with my 7 year old granddaughter is like watching someone get off drugs. Right now she’s crying to her mom for blueberries. I’ve made her carnivore pancakes (two types), sausages, crepes, burger patties and more. She’s remembering times of going out with her dad for yummy treats - it’s a much more serious addiction than I had imagined. Her moods are all over the place. I hope it doesn’t last long!

Wow! Children are fed a high sugar diet from the time they are born. It’s no wonder they act like druggies.

Yeah, I can’t wait to see what she’s like after she gets used to this! Then this evening she was pretending to make a YouTube video of making carnivore pancakes.

Yes, it is quite an observation isn't it? The programming is targeted at children, just look at the cereal isle.

This is day 5 for my granddaughter. Today was amazing! She now loves the diet, is having fun learning new carnivore recipes, was very well behaved all day - I feel like I’m meeting a new child. Zero meltdowns today.

My daughter and I are doing well also. I just feel like I’m eating too much so I’d like to fast for much of tomorrow.

We rarely had any behavioral problems with children before they began being force fed sugars and highly processed foods. In today’s world they blame these problems on ADHD or some made up disorder when in truth it’s all due to what they’re fed.
You are getting to see this first hand.

I'm just catching up on this topic and wanted to mention that sugar is indeed a drug. They say that sugar addiction rivals that of your strongest and most addictive street drugs. And the withdrawals symptoms of cutting them out is akin to the withdrawal symptoms of 'going clean'.

So the drug analogy is very apropos.

One has 4 times the dopamine receptors with sugar than with cocaine. I read that somewhere.

The crazy thing is that the sugar she was getting was from organic whole fruits, some gluten free bread and things like rice and oatmeal. We’re not even talking about processed junk with added sugar!!

Makes me so sad for kids who get in trouble all the time and don’t have parents that know better. It’s not their fault!

It gives me more understanding of why I’ve had such a hard time staying away from treats - until going carnivore.
