I’m nearly 7 mths on carnivore - 2 mths in I went off my blood pressure, cholesterol, type II diabetes meds, no more CPAP machine, full of energy - the best I have felt since I started Keto 6 years ago.

Last year, I was hospitalized 4 times for pancreatitis on eating Keto foods, lots of green leafy veg…put on insulin and told had to carry snacks that could prevent going into a coma - started eating keto bars & other keto treats. Insulin was raised from 20ml daily to 80mls in a few mths - felt so sick, shortness of breathe, heart palpitations, severe chest & shoulder pain, doing lots of CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests…no answers given. Told I would be on all these meds for life… I was getting worse and felt terrible - depressed- felt like 2025 would be my last.

Started researching, my son found Dr Berry for me, I found Dr Kiltz and started listening to them and their speakers and January 17th, 2025 I started strict carnivore.

  • Welcome to Carnivore Talk Helen. You have a great testimony to the power of eating a proper human diet.

  • Thanks Bob! Glad to be here. I will look into those products and update soon :)

  • You can also mix up your own for pennies per serving. LMNT even has the basic recipe on their website.

Welcome. I agree with Geezy. Yours is a great story. The very things that you were eating that were deemed good for you were trying to do you in. Once we cut out the things we weren't designed to eat and then center our way of eating around the things we were intended to eat it is absolutely amazing the benefits.

Congrats. And again, welcome.

Awesome. Keep doing what you are doing and continue in the things you have learned, and keep learning. I'm super glad to hear that you have had such positive results.

welcome

Hello I am a newbie to this group. I have been intermittent fasting for over a year…skip breakfast… I was diagnosed with breast cancer February 2024 so it was time to get my act together. I want to try carnivore and have over the last couple of weeks increased my protein intake (meat and eggs mostly). I am beginning to have leg twitches and some heat sensation that comes briefly and passes in my left calf. I do not have any edema… no redness… just muscle twitches and that brief heat sensation. From reading the posts, it appears I may have electrolyte issues as well. I am going to add some magnesium and see if that helps. Thanks for all of the information. It is super helpful for me as this is mostly a new process for me.

Welcome aboard Sheila! waving

I think looking into some light electrolyte supplementation would be a good start. Many people who start low carbohydrate diets, and not just carnivore but keto and ketovore as well, lose some water and electrolytes in the beginning. Muscle twitches are a sign, and so is the charley horse that wakes you up at night - not very fun, mind you, lol.

LMNT and Keto Chow Daily Minerals are popular products, but there are hundreds of brands to choose from. You can even choose pills over drink mixes, which is what I do. If you have good functioning kidneys and don't over do it you should be fine.

Dr Berry is extending my life!

Thanks Terry :) Good to know! I am sensitive to stevia but I think the LMNT may have an unflavored version. I’ll check out the website.

They do. It’s the one I use when I need some electrolytes.

I have run out of magnesium recently, and noticed a lot more twitching in my legs. It comes in the mail today thankfully!

I started intermittent fasting last year and really started focusing on cutting carbs in the last few months. Now I want to try carnivore. What is the max carbs one should eat in a day and would a nut butter or berries be ok? I am NOT a salad person lol.

A true carnivore diet would be as close to zero carbs per day as possible.

I eat a carnivore diet and will still eat a few strawberries while in season and I will sometimes dip a pork rind into some Smuckers natural peanut butter. No crime in doing that I figure.

Even stricter than carnivore would be a lion diet, which is just beef, salt and water. I've done short stints of that one also.

Multi day fasts can be very powerful also. That is when I feel my best.

Wow! I have fasted 48 hours before and felt like a super human lol. Thanks for the info. I am finding the hardest thing is to plan ahead or prepare for the meal. Where I work, the cafe does not have much in the way of beef every day. Still trying to figure it out.
