First time here. Ketovore for a year

Hi ALL!!

Joining today as I would like to find my tribe. My husband and I have been ketovore/carnivore for just over a year. Found a great deal of healing initially that gave us our lives back. We have found it difficult socially as our family and friends think we are going to kill ourselves eating this way. We have found a significant decrease in invitations to events or gatherings and have even had people directly message me asking me to stop talking about it as it is 'triggering' for them. While I appreciate their candour, I am finding the need to search for community and support. So here I am.

My husband and I live in Melbourne Australia. We have collectively lost over 60 kgs (132lbs) pretty equal amounts between us, overcome addictions, normalised our HbA1Cs, become more active, and feel better than we have for a long long time - maybe ever. I'm a little stuck at the moment so am hoping to find some suggestions from the community's collective experience but mostly, I really want to be able to join conversations about people's experiences without being shut down or told I'm doing something wrong.

Hoping this is a good community that are accepting of the nuances in this way of living. Looking forward to exploring the site a little more.

Welcome to carnivoretalk.

When we first come to carnivore and reap the benefits we want to shout it from the rooftops but there comes a time when we realize that nobody cares. I used to evangelize my lifestyle but I eventually realized that it was best to just keep my mouth shut and only talk about it if I were asked.

I don’t care what anyone thinks about my lifestyle because I’m doing this for me and no one else.

Welcome.

This community is really good with sharing ideas and experiences.

Most have similar experiences. I lost a bunch of weight really fast and people noticed. When I told them how I was looked at like I was some sort of crazy person. You do what? You just eat meat? It soon goes from intrigue to them becoming a medical doctor informing me of all the pitfalls of eating just meats.

I too was happy to tell people about carnivore and all the positives I experienced. I thought most would want to know but most 'become doctors' in a blink and tell me all the bad things that happen to people who are only eating just fatty meats.

I am a big fan of coupling carnivore with fasting and resistance training.

If you think people look at you strange for eating carnivore, try telling them you have not eaten for three-four-five days. They think I belong in the crazy hospital. LOL

Good luck. Welcome to the community. Share your experiences. (I am also a big fan of other people's stories. For me a person's personal story is far more impactful than a bunch of studies)

Good luck.

Scott
