Hello! Brand new to carnivore diet. Is it alright to take herbal supplements to help bowels move while on carnivore? I have a history of constipation.  I am transitioning slowly into carnivore and should be fully carnivore by the end of this week, but want to make sure I keep bowels moving.

Do you usually take these herbal supplements? If so, continuing to do so while you're transitioning you should be fine. If you are trying to heal some chronic health issue you may want to try and wean yourself off them in due time, just in case any plant toxins in these herbs are actually triggering your issues.

Carnivore dieters usually find that fat keeps the bowels moving. If the stools are hard, add more fat to your meals. If the stools are too soft, back off the fat a bit.

Welcome aboard!

In the beginning my issue was not constipation but just the opposite but after thirty days it turned into constipation. When I felt it coming on I’d use a suppository. If it was going to be really bad I’d use an herbal laxative tea. I found that to be more proactive taking a supplement of magnesium citrate kept me soft but I wasn’t pleased with the results so I found a magnesium complex that had citrate in it but the other ingredients helped to keep things more normal.
My system is slowly becoming normal I think because I’m staring to get looser so I’m cutting back on the magnesium to every other day and see what happens.

So then keep taking your herbal supplements for now, but if these issues don't resolve or improve, then you will want to eliminate the herbal supplement as well - just in case there's something in the herbs that is causing a disturbance in your body.

Or just wean off slowly, which is probably what I would do.

The "keto flu" and other symptoms of transitioning to a carnivore diet can be avoided if you gradually make the switch. On the other hand, "gradual" doesn't work for some people, because they can't fight the cravings, and going cold turkey is the way they have to go.

🤣

I guzzled 10oz of magnesium citrate drink and it was effective for clearing the system out like flushing a radiator.
