I just hit my 6th week of carnivore on Saturday. Been eating red meat, chicken, pork, Small amounts of cheese and sour cream, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. I noticed the last few days I'm just ravenous. I will eat, and then 2-3 hours later I'm extremely hungry again. The last few days I have also been more on edge, a little grumpy, and stressed. Is this is just a faze? Side effect? any help would be much appreciated.

It’s difficult to say because we don’t know exactly how you are eating but yes it could just be a faze.
It could very well be that you have used up your glycogen stores and your body is needing fuel to burn but hasn’t completely become fat adapted yet.
Generally when we have hunger issues early on in our carnivore journey it’s because we are still craving carbs and we need to subdue those cravings by eating more fatty meat. In the beginning don’t be afraid to eat. That’s one of the great beauties of this way we eat that we don’t have to restrict food as long as it’s the right food.
Satisfy your hunger. Eventually your body will settle down and become fat adapted and start functioning the way it was always meant to be.
In the meantime, welcome to our group Iceman.
Other than that, how are you getting along with carnivore. Improvements? Setbacks?

Please tell us your why you're doing carnivore it will help us help you.

Dial down on the spices dairy.

Focus on 73/27 ground beef, bacon and eggs and make sure you are getting electrolytes by adding Redmond real salt, Himalayan salt to your water daily and drink only water.

This will help satiate your hunger and hopefully curb your stress.

Remember this is a shock so to say to your body going from carbs to ketone fueling your body.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.

How much are you eating?

Are you eating until you are comfortably stuffed? Or are you portion controlling? Are you intermittent fasting or eating OMAD?

Another point to consider is the fat content? Are you eating lean meats or fatty meat? Are you cooking in butter, ghee, or tallow? Are you saving the grease with your ground beef or are you draining/rinsing it?

Going on the bare minimal of information (and only 6 months experience) I would lean toward fat content and hydration along with total amounts eaten.

I have only been truly hungry a couple three times, twice really early and one the last hour of a 72 hour fast. None of the edginess or stress but hungry as all get out.

Once I got my fat content and electrolytes up it has been smooth sailing. (I didn't read the directions. I just ate meat, salt and water and waited for the magic to happen. After some adjustments the magic started to happen, LOL)

Good luck.

Scott

    • "Marching into March with Much Motivation"

For this months challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to get up and move. Spring is in the air. The weather is getting better. Get out there and MOVE! Go for walks, hike some trails if they aren't too muddy. Or just make a goal to get on the treadmill or lift some weights more than usual throughout the month. Get in the habit now, and we just might have beach bodies when summer officially hits, lol.

Just like before, we encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.

The March drawing will be for a 4-pack of Carnivore Bars!

Every Reply in this topic will count as an entry for this month's prize drawing. Back-to-back posts count as 1 entry as a counter to spamming.

    • Today is February 1st and marks the first day of "National Fasting February" - and yes, this is a thing. Google it!

For this month's challenge, we are going to support each other in our efforts to practice various forms of fasting throughout the month. The type of fasting you wish to do is entirely up to you. We are going to encourage INTERMITTENT FASTING, that is to put it simply, skipping a meal so that you are only eating 2 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 meals a day. The goal is to enjoy these meals within an 8 hour "feasting window" and then no food in the remaining 16 hours "fasting window" (in which 8 of those hours you should be sleeping).

An example is waking up at 7am, but waiting until 11am-noon for your first meal, and then having dinner at 6-7pm for your 2nd meal. Other people prefer to eat a breakfast, then a mid-day lunch, and skip dinner.

If you want to throw in a 24, 48, or 72 hour fast just to show off by all mean do so, lol.
