I've been eating late, lean (sirloins, seafood), and then going to bed on it. I need to stop that, lol 😄

Siamese kidneys? Crikey.

Hahahaha - obvious in hindsight, but hadn't heard them called that before.

Was a surprise to be told at 40 that was the case though.

I hope it is not too serious, I've never heard of it.

If anything, eat fat before sleeping and you sleep better. Just a bit.

Well I had a bad couple of days eating on Monday and Tuesday. I had to go to Louisiana for a funeral. We stayed at a B&B. The first nightly we went out to eat at my wife’s favorite restaurant in Shreveport. I did good just having the ribeye but I’m sure it was cooked in seed oils. It was a fantastic piece of meat though.
At breakfast the host at the B&B gave us bagels which we declined stating that we didn’t eat bread. The host asked if I had any specific dietary restrictions and I told him I just eat meat and eggs, zero carbs. He asked “Not even grits?” “No sir, not even grits.” We are southerners after all. 😁

So in his generosity he brought me out eggs with extra slices of bacon and sausage. Eggs were cooked in seed oils. The first bite of the sausage I tasted maple. I thought what the heck, it’s just this one time. Then I took a bite of the bacon. It was oven baked which I don’t care for but that wasn’t the worst part, it was covered in brown sugar.🤮🤮🤮     I swallowed that bite to be polite but couldn’t eat anymore. Then after the service there was a catered wake. I looked over the selection and saw a few items I thought I could eat. Jalapeño poppers. Great. Stuffed with cream cheese that had something sweet in it. At this point I’m hungry and I didn’t care so I ate four of them. Meatballs covered in a tomato based sauce. They were made with Wagyu beef and were tasty. The sauce wasn’t very thick so I indulged, after all I was hungry. I’m pretty sure there were some kind of fillers in the meatballs. For someone who has been as strict as I’ve been for over 200 days all of this was a bit of a shock to my system.
On the four hour drive home we stopped at a bbq joint and got a whole rack of ribs. The first good meat in almost two days.
Before we got home I started noticing that my hands were getting real stiff so I knew that inflammation was creeping in. The next day I had gained two pounds and my pants were tighter around the middle. Geez man, it wasn’t that much off plan but dang it had a dramatic impact. Oh and I had loose bowels. Next time I encounter that situation I’ll practice what I preach and just fast. That “little bit” ain’t worth it.

Dry meat and salted tallow as a dip is my travel food. I also bring some cheese to eat sliced with the beef jerky. At least if I can't find a proper steakhouse, I'm safe.

An idea could be to try to find some Mongolian restaurants on your path. As least there you should find proper meat not reinterpreted according to fast food standards.

Man, it was a bad day for you, lol 😄

I've found myself in similar situations. I just try to have enough to stave off the hunger and not over indulge, and get back on track again as soon as I am near real food again 🙂

Ate 5 scrambled eggs in butter, about a pound of beef and a can of sardines today. Feeling kinda sick. Probably just ate too much!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My 7 year old granddaughter is strongly addicted to carbs. Her behavior can be pretty wild and super uncooperative - in spite of having intensely loving parents. My daughter has been trying to get her to eat only carnivore, but her dad and older brother eat fruit and veggies and grains, and it's been impossible to keep her away from that stuff. So...today I'm flying to Idaho and my daughter and I will be taking my granddaughter and the 19 month old twins to a house we're renting for a couple of weeks in Montana. It will be a carnivore only house while we're there! We'll all be going cold turkey to strict carnivore - beef, butter, bacon and eggs only. I found a great butcher about 10 minutes away from where we'll be staying. Wish us luck! Also curious to know if anyone knows about any kids being successful on this diet.

Good luck.

My daughter is carnivore and is in the process of training her three kids in eating better. She doesn’t want to just go cold turkey with them and still wants them to have treats now and then so she is very meat centric with them and most of the time they only eat whole foods. Their sugars are limited to special treats only just like it used to be. No seed oils are used in her house. During the holidays she did allow them to have some cookies on Christmas Day and some pie after supper but that was it. Grains are very limited as well. She is doing her best to wean them off of the bad stuff a help them learn to desire the good.

Good for her - that’s great to know!

I have found that it only takes a little bit, especially something cooked in seed oils.

There is a Mexican restaurant here that my wife knows the owner (her and my son/daughter-in-law eat out more than me). On one trip I asked for the grill to be scraped, and my meats cooked in butter. He put in the order, and everything worked out just fine. On another trip he was not there, and I asked both the hostess and the waiter. They agreed and that is how my order was made. Either the cook didn't get the message or simply chose not to go that route. I am not sure. I didn't get the taste of butter on the first bite, and like Geezy mentioned, it was only a little bit/just that one tie while out.

If going along the interstate you can pull off the road as far as you can and then give the truck a slight turn back toward the highway. Open both doors on the passenger side and you have created private facilities.

For me, seed oils have become a gut grenade. It is odd how I ate them by the tons before and now the slightest bit sends me running.

I'm bouncing around the 84-85lbs mark for several weeks. At one point i would call it a stall or maybe even a semi-stall. This time I am eating more than I should and lifting with a little more intensity/volume.

I feel good so I am going to hold this pattern for a stretch to see where it lands. Go from there.

This is turning out to be a bit more challenging than I had expected. My 7 year old granddaughter hates meet and is really strongly addicted to carbs! I’m also feeling kinda sick eating all this meet, and I’m committed to sticking with it. My daughter is also committed to sticking with it. The 19 year old twins seem fine with carnivore. I’m mostly concerned about the 7 year old. Since meet is all there is, she’s not eating much. She had a lot of chicken broth today.

Have you tried looking up carnivore recipes?  There are a huge number of ways to cook carnivore. Chaffles, paffles, pancakes can all be made carnivore and used for buns for hamburgers. Chicken salad, tuna salad, salmon salad can all be carnivore with the right ingredients and you can make sandwiches using the chaffles for the bread. Egg salad sandwiches are good to using the right ingredients.
I make a great steak sauce that’s carnivore that’s really good on any meat.
You are only limited by your imagination.
There are lots of ways to eat carnivore without just eating beef all of the time.
Lots of good recipes out there and you can find a few on our forum.

Sure thing. I think it’s listed in the recipe section but I’ll post it here.

Recipe

The BEST Steak Sauce
INGREDIENTS

1 cup unsalted butter (2 Sticks of butter)

8 ounces cream cheese

3/4 cup bone or beef broth

Truffle salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

    •    Heat the butter in a large sauce pot over high heat. Whisk often so the butter doesn't burn on the outside of the pan. The butter will start to bubble and froth up. Whisk often at this point. The butter will start to darken and turn brown. Remove from heat and keep whisking.

    •    Add the cream cheese.

    •    After a minute, slowly add the broth, truffle salt.

    •    Use a stick blender to puree until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning and truffle taste to your liking.

    •    Pour into a mason jar. Cover and store in the fridge for up to 7 days. This sauce will thicken a lot overnight.
    •    Serve with your favorite steak!
This of course is good with any meat and even makes a good dip.

It looks delicious, thank you! Unfortunately I think we’re all sensitive to dairy so for now we’ll have to hold off.
