G'day I'm Gabe 🌺

I'm a full time mum. Wife.

Love family and fun stuff.

I love traveling so far around Australia.

Every couple of years we do a road trip to the Outback.

So my story. I grew up being active outdoors fishing. Boating. Swimming anything beach.

For the last 20 years life has been major challenging.

4 babies. Lost my first. 2 inguinal hernias.

Last baby due to the Trainee Drs. Epidural went wrong. As well as having the factory shut. That lead to other complications ongoing. So a long time on pain meds. Etc. Trying to get the Drs to help me with this issue. Then I finally find a good Dr. They move on. Those issues haven't been sorted out.  I have high blood pressure. And during COVID I got diagnosed with kidney issues too much protein in my kidneys.

I have been put on many tablets. It lead me to a few spells in hospital and last year a fractured foot.

I have been told to take ozempic I started on it. Lost some weight. Then because of not being available in Australia number of times. I put the weight on. Then I have been taking medication for diabetes.

I spend most of the time on the couch. It's physically challenging.

The Drs are no help. Don't listen. The insulin makes me really sick as well as the ozempic. Makes me really sick

I've asked the Drs for advice. If I should eat less meat to help reduce the protein.

I've tried vegetarian diets.

The medication instead of suppressing my appetite. Increased it

I had gestational diabetes during pregnancy. I was put on diet to limit the sugars from different foods and carbs.

Last year I was told different to eat more bread and carbs. The diabetes representative told me I was like the 100th person to end up on insulin because of the ozempic.

I've been on Cyclosporine. Neoral. Which lead to my sugars rising big time.

And couldn't go in the sun. It lead to other complications.

Sorry for my long post.

I'm interested in the Carnivore diet. And the benefits.

I gladly welcome all advice 🙏

Welcome Gabe. For those reading, I've known Gabe online for probably 10-15 years now.

The carnivore diet can help you reverse your diabetes and a number of other chronic issues. It's an all meat diet (with some allowance for cheese and butter). You may want to transition into it gradually, as any sudden shift in dietary habits will throw your body for a loop. You can do it cold turkey if you like, but be prepared for 1-3 weeks of the "keto flu" as they call it.

For starters, eliminate all grain (wheat, bread, crackers, corn, oats, rice, etc), refined sugar (white, brown, powdered, syrups and sugar alcohols, etc), and vegetable seed oils (safflower, canola, sunflower, corn, rice, peanut, etc). You can have fruits and vegetables in the beginning. You can use butter, ghee, tallow, lard, olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil, with a focus on the animal fats. You want at least half your plate filled with fatty red meat, fatty, fish, or eggs, and the other half can be low carb veggies - for now. Eventually you will decrease the veg portion until they are all gone for good.

Have you had your A1C checked lately? Or how about a Renal Panel?

Tell us about your insulin and other meds. Some medications you need to wean off slowly and not just stop taking abruptly, so we want to know what they are and why they were prescribed before suggesting you to stop taking any of them.

Welcome Gabe zoom meeting in 1 hour from now.

Click the link in my signature to get a basic overview of starting carnivore.

Best thing to remember is your WHY you're starting carnivore journey (lifestyle) .

Eggs bacon minced beef/lamb-mutton eat until you're fully stuffed.  If you want a snack use meat fatter the better.

Thanks for the Welcome Bob

Time has flown by aye   at the end of the month I have to get my Blood test done and then early Feb. I have an appointment with my Renal doctor. Last year has been quite a mess. The end of 2023. I had a kidney biopsy done that went wrong. It burst internally. I almost didn't make it. My blood count went down to 30.  So I was in hospital for a week and 1/2.

Around the same time my mum had a triple heart bypass. And then around To last Feb/March my Dad had a major Stroke.  So I have had to put of many appointments. Including the diabetes clinic.

I stopped going because they weren't hearing my concerns.  One rep. Got really really in my face about a matter

I keep trying to manage my weight etc.

Not to mention peri menopause. Dealing with that for the 16 years.

I'm at a loss whom I can trust with Drs

I've been on a merry go round for 16 years.

My own GP won't listen. So now I'm on a hunt for a new one.

Welcome to the forum.

I hear you on doctors. They do not have the will, or time to listen to you anymore. It took them 17 years to figure out what was wrong with me. And when they figured it out, they had a list of pills to take for me, and send me on my way home.

Of course I did not do that, because by that time, I already knew I was on my own. I was already searching for alternatives. Tried low starch diet, no dairy, gluten free, etc. I had mixed results, but more than the doctors ever gave me. I was not interested in pills that would mask the symptom, or the pain. When you stop listening to your body, it will eventually stop on you, so to speak.

When they did finally figure it all out, they also told me I was doomed and fated to take medicine for life. That did not sound much like a fix to me. Until 15 years later when I bumped into the carnivore diet. A year in now, and the benefits are tremendous. 80% of my problems gone, pain free as we speak. 30 years of chronic pain, at some point walking with a cane. Carnivore is not the be all end all mind you, there will be other aspects of life that need sorted (working out, walking, etc.), but as my very last resort, it gave me my life back. I am still looking back stunned and amazed.

To live without any sort of pain would be awesome

I'm so happy for you. 80 percent. That's inspiring.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I refused a kidney biopsy when I heard about the risks.

Diet and nutrition is where you have to not only start, but also end. A lot of what the mainstream teaches is simply not true and is making us sick. And I am not saying there is any conspiracy, per se, it's just that the wrong information has been repeated so much that it is just assumed it must be right. But hey, the earth was flat once, and doctors used to use leaches to suck out your bad blood for just about everything. We've come a long way, but still have a ways to go.

You want to eat a carnivore-centric diet, that is, one that is meat heavy - and we're talking fatty meat. Fat is your friend. Avoid grains, refined sugar, and seed oils like your life depends on it. Some people can make allowances for fruits and vegetables, but I would recommend that you eventually make it a goal to do at least 30 days, preferably 90 days, as a strict carnivore - no plants - as an elimination diet to maximize your results. Afterwards, if you want to add certain select low carb veggies or fruits back in slowly and one at a time to see how they affect you, well that's your prerogative. But many of us choose to stay this way, or mostly this way, forever, because the health improvements we enjoy are tremendous!

Welcome Gabe.
You sound like the perfect candidate for the carnivore lifestyle.
Ecmvrty ailment you mentioned is treatable through proper diet and nutrition that you will get from being a carnivore. Bob has suggested a very good path for you to follow.

That just it, you can’t trust any of the conventional doctors out there. 99% of them are ignorant of nutrition and how it plays a role in our metabolic health. They do not study nutrition in school. I only use doctors now to fix something I’ve broken.
You need to take charge of your own health. Do your own research and make your own decisions. Doctors are the third leading cause of death right behind heart attacks and cancer and if the truth be known they are the cause of most of those as well.
If you want to listen to some doctors you can trust then look up Dr’s Berry, Chaffee, Baker and Ovadia on Utube. They won’t steer you wrong.
