Today is the first day of January and is also the first day of World Carnivore Month. To that end, let's challenge ourselves to eat a carnivore diet for the entire month of January. The type of carnivore diet and the level of strictness you choose to do is entirely up to you. Examples of carnivore diets include the following...

1) The Lion Diet. A person eating the Lion Diet only consumes the flesh of ruminant animals, water, and salt.

2) The BBBE Diet. BBBE is an acronym for Beef, Butter, Bacon, and Eggs.

3) The Carnivore Diet. This allows for the consumption of any and all animals and animal by-products, including dairy.

In any of the above examples, the object of course is to not consume any plants as part of your diet. Of course, we're not going to micromanage hoe you prepare your food, so your use of seasonings is entirely your own personal choice.

IF your circumstances don't allow you to go full on carnivore in January, then you can participate in this topic by challenge yourself to do better, above and beyond what you have been doing. For example, if you have still been eating grains, seed oils, refined sugar, or drinking alcohol, challenge yourself to avoid these items and just eat a clean, single ingredient whole foods diet such as clean keto, ketovore, or animal based.

We encourage you to check in daily, and share what you have eaten, perhaps a weigh-in if you're willing, and enjoy in some small talk.  Participants in this topic will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the month.

The crazy thing is that the sugar she was getting was from organic whole fruits, some gluten free bread and things like rice and oatmeal. We’re not even talking about processed junk with added sugar!!

Fruits can be some of the worst because their sugars are fructose and go straight to the liver to be metabolized.

Sausages can be deceiving, too. In addition to destroying my OMAD, because of Sauna Day, these guys have one gram of carbs each.

I don't know why? Nothing would change for worse for anyone if they just cut that last carb out. Must be flour.

You are absolutely correct. You have to read ingredient labels. They hide sugar and grains in them. I read the label on a package of chorizo that I used to buy frequently and besides all the other junk it had in it there was soy grits in it.  WTH! What are soy grits and what are they doing in my sausage. I no longer but store bought sausage. I have a processor that can make my sausage custom to what I want and I can make my own as well.

I think if we truly analyzed the ingredients in our packaged foods we would be amazed and then pissed and maybe even disgusted at what is used as fillers and binders.

When I worked some construction with my Pops way back when he used to say all the time when we hit mom & pop grills in the area, "there's nothing wrong with the hotdog as long as you don't look in the back".

If we know/if we knew I feel like it would have helped me move into better eating.

Ignorance is bliss.

Dang.

I also just found out that my recent new finding,a very nice fatty smoked bacon has GLUCOSE. No lactase nor gluten, they got rid of those - and added straight glucose. Only one gram per 100 g but in my diet that could make me digest three grams of pure glucose per day, while thinking i´m not getting any carbs, not to mention straight sugar.

It has 30 g fat / 10 g protein / 100 g,so excellent macros... and then it has to be destroyed with sugar. Wrong!

I´ll add a link,please excuse my finnish:

A carnivore diet does not exclude carbs entirely. Carnivore as a species specific and species appropriate diet consists 75% or more of meat. That's being hyper carnivore. I'm saying there's room for a sausage here and there. Do we need carbs? not ever. Would I worry about food with 1 carb? that's not needed either. Go eat that delicious looking sausage.

That is exactly how it can build up without use being aware if it happening. A little here, a little there. It can all add up.

That is so disappointing!

Another good day. It makes it so much easier and more fun doing this with my daughter and granddaughter. We’re getting our recipes down. Dumplings made from ground beef mixed with bacon and beef liver blended up in the food processor and then made into balls and put in simmering water for five minutes. We all thought they were delicious. Pancakes made from ground beef and eggs and butter in the blender. Another favorite.

Yes I ate that.

But. Even in keto, I like my carbs under five grams. I feel the best and get no cravings, been like that for 20 years. So two sausages like that plus a sugary pack of bacon (that I mentioned above) for dinner give me five grams of flour and sugar.

I´d rather take those carbs in a different form from broccoli, sauerkraut and nuts. But there´s no room now.

"One gram of carbs" sounds ridiculous to many,I know. But so does "One beer does not matter!" when you say that to an alcoholic.

I´m aiming a transition into proper carni soon. It will be meat and eggs only for simplicity´s sake. Nothing plant,no dairy except probably, maybe butter. I may adjust from that later on but I find it easier to start from zero. Then I can tell what is causing what.

My heart resting rate changes,if any, are especially interesting.

Yes, @Orweller is correct in that we do Zoom every Monday at 8pm Eastern Time. There are several ways to get in...

1) I've put an announcement message at the top of the page and in the sidebar, which takes you to the post with the link.
2) The post with the link is pinned in the Private Chat, Meetups, Hangouts, and Livestreams forum.
3) You can find it in our Community Calendar under the Events menu option.
4) If you save the Meeting ID and Password in your Zoom client, you can just open Zoom and connect straight from there.

Remember, attendees for the Zoom meeting (more like informal friendly discussion) get bonus entries for the monthly giveaway.

I was forced to watch the Ohio State game... and I do not even watch football lol. But congrats to the Buckeyes.
