Hi Everyone! I'm new to carnivore and this forum. I had good success with low carb over the years, but slowly was dragged away over time by doctors mainly saying my health was in danger due to high cholesterol numbers. I listened to their advice reluctantly (hey, they're doctors, right?) including lowering my "bad" protein intake, and introducing "good" carbs, not to mention taking statins. I slowly gained more weight and eventually went on a GLP1. My fasting insulin and c peptide numbers became very high, not to mention I had some bad side effects. And I didn't lose much weight. I took myself off the medication a few weeks ago and the side effects have been subsiding. Now, I want to hit keto hard, and carnivore seems the best way for me to proceed for at this point.

I came here because I thought I might need a little support and information. I look forward to interacting with you all, and taking in your experiences!

Welcome to the forum.

I'm biased but I think you made a pretty good decision.

A few things to keep in mind. Keep your fat content up high and proteins moderate. Make sure you use salt liberally or use an electrolyte type drink mix (or make your own mix). Rule of thumb is eat till you are full and then eat when you are hungry.

Tons of information on the board and tons of knowledgeable people here.

Good luck.

Welcome aboard Dan!

We're here to help. You can go back to keto and then transition gradually to carnivore from there. Or you can jump in head first. There may be some jiggery-pokery with the adaptation symptoms for the first few weeks but they shall pass.

Basically, eat fatty red meat (with low carb veg if you choose keto) until you are comfortably full. Enjoy 3 meals a day (or 2 larger meals a day) and avoid snacking. Don't restrict calories. Aim for 1g of fat (or more) for every 1g of protein.

If you opt for keto, don't fall for Big Food's fake keto products. There are no such things as keto bread, keto tortillas, keto cookies, keto protein bars, etc. If a package at the store says "keto" on it, it's probably not really keto, lol.

Avoid grains, refined sugars, and seed oils - the unholy trinity ;)
