High Triglycerides on a Carnivore or Keto Diet! [Video/Podcast]

.

Have your triglycerides gone UP while on your carnivore or ketogenic diet? Are you constantly being told by carnivore zealots/purists/police that you must be doing something wrong, sneaking carbs, cheating, or lying about your eating habits, even though you KNOW you are doing everything correct? Are you worried that you've been lied to about the benefits of beef, butter, bacon, and eggs, or that you've been "had" by the Lion Diet?

Yes, it's true that for most people, they see their trigs plummet to beautiful low levels. But some of us see ours go up.... sometimes WAY UP! This happened to me, and I explain why in this video.

Thank you.

I've got a couple other topics that are also lengthy left to do, but I think I am gonna switch gears and make some shorter, easily digestible videos next.

Interesting video. This is the first content I've seen specifically addressing rising triglycerides on carnivore. After 4 months on carnivore and 25 lbs. weight loss (205 - 180), my triglycerides more than doubled. While still low by your standard - they went from 110 - 220. My doctor is more concerned about my LDL going from 170 to 580, but I've seen more reports of this increase on carnivore than the increased triglycerides.

My kidney panel does not show cause for concern, but you've given me some interesting things to consider re: rising triglycerides and weight loss.

Thanks again for the content.

It's the same with the LDL - which is stored in your adipose tissue and gets released into the blood stream as you lose weight. This is in addition to the saturated fat you are now eating but weren't eating before. LDL goes up dramatically. But after remaining weight stable for about 6 months, it should return to baseline (which may even be your "new normal", now that your dietary habits have changed).

I was listening to a video from Dr. Chaffee today about cholesterol and he was saying that it was perfectly natural for the LDL to go up because when we became fat adapted and our bodies start using fat (ketones) for fuel there will have to be more LDL circulating in our blood to provide that energy source.
