Hello! I'm Kyle, just found out about this forum a while back and thought I'd join. I just started a low carb diet to transition to full carnivore since about October 18th last month. I turned down my bread consumption to 1-3 slices of bread per day (before it was like an average of 6-7) and started eating mostly meat and dairy products (generally no ultra processed stuff). I've also cut out all seed oils from my diet and mainly used olive oil, coconut oil and lard to cook with so far.

I discovered this diet on youtube while watching Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Shawn Baker talk about the health benefits it brings to those that stick to it long enough. I was curious, before I never tried a diet for more than 1-2 weeks and even then I did not have a solid plan for it. So I decided to give it a go and see where it takes me health-wise. And now after doing some digging online, here I am.

I hope we'll get along!  😃

Hi Kyle, I’m glad you could us.

You are on the the right track to becoming a carnivore. Keep up the good work until you arresting only animal fats, animal protein, salt and water if you want to become a pure carnivore.
I would urge you to not treat this as a diet because it’s not a diet in the conventional sense of eating in a way to lose weight. This is a lifestyle of eating. We come to this lifestyle to turn our lives around through what we eat.  In so doing we heal and strengthen our bodies and a wonderful side benefit is we often lose weight.
If you want to succeed at this you’ll need to understand that you may be a carbohydrate addict and it can be difficult to kick the addiction so be prepared to give this way of eating at least 90 days. That will help you get past the addiction and free yourself so you can just focus on eating properly.
Continue the immerse yourself into the carnivore community and continue to educate in this lifestyle to keep yourself motivated and you will find that this is not very difficult if you have the right mindset.
Good luck and good health sir.

@geezy Spot on.

I sort of dove right in and ate non-carnivore stuff because I had just bought it and didn't waste it (LOL)

Most start on Carnivore as a diet. Just remember it is an elimination diet. Some of the things you listed can be eliminated to get you closer to carnivore. Over time it becomes a lifestyle change and the idea of it as a diet is a thing of the past.

Welcome. And best of luck. This is a really good place to learn, voice your experiences and engage with others' experiences.

Again, welcome and good luck.

Scott

Welcome aboard @Kyle Katarn.

Can you please give us some background of yourself?  What's your WHY for starting carnivore?

@Geezy pretty much summed it up,  this is a lifestyle we adopted to better our health physically and mentally.

The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.  So don't be afraid to ask questions or pose your concerns.

This is my favorite saying, I think.

Except, in the Navy my Dive School Instructor use to say, "There is no such thing as a stupid question only stupid people that ask questions".

Brings back memories.
