What's fer supper!
ol_hilly replied to ol_hilly's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
Had an omelet at work and a burger at home. Put a request for blue cheese in at work. They don't carry it, but the owner picks me up a five pound bag of crumbles at my request. Brought home some ribeyes and hot sausage. Just got internet back again. if it'd went out one day earlier, it would a been three times it went out last month. Just a few more months and fiber will be here hopefully. I won't know what to do with 100 Mb download instead of 2.2Mb. I even dialed the old dialup number just to see if it was still active. Nope! At least it was steady when I had it. Way to go Bob! -

Had sausage and eggs with butter at work. And ribs for supper. -
Since we're talking about butter, I got a story. ... One time some years ago, I was talking to an Amish friend about the high costs of a butter churn. He was getting annoyed with rolling a jar across the floor. One day I was in the hardware store and noticed a paint stirrer and a light bulb went off in my head. I got said paint stirrer which had two metal horizontal paddles welded in the same direction. I got home and cut out two wooden paddles and screwed them vertically. Took a gallon glass jar and beefed up the lid with a one by cut to fit. Drilled a 1/4 inch hole. Drilled a couple teeny holes in the shaft for pins to adjust the height of said paddle. Hooked it up to a lectric drill and spun er up. Figured if it'd withstand an electric drill, it'd withstand a hand cranked one. Took it over to him and said you no longer have to roll a jar. So we traded some butter for that three dollar paint stirrer. Somewhere I got a picture.. Probably on an old drive. If I come across it, I'll post it.

Reminded me of one time trying to explain How one could afford to do keto and intermittent fasting to a gal. The whole concept was as clear as mud to her. Probably still is.

For a late lunch at work today I fixed some link sausages and fried radishes. No one there had ever heard of frying radishes. I told em that's what you have when you have a craving for fried taters. They liked them which left fewer for me. Then supper was a big ham steak. I did not take a picture. -

Mostly bass. Fried in bacon grease with a new type of cajun seasoning on it. Beings I work in a lil mom/pop store, we get seasonings in bulk. This was a new cajun spice with fewer ingreds. Paprika, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and cayenne. The old one had words I can't pronounce and that's a red flag for me. -

Good job! Won't hold your little salad against ya. I've yet to eat today. -
Yay! I knew you could do it. When you do it where your 24 hour ends bout the time your sleep cycle starts, 36 is not a problem. then you get to spend at least 16 hours in Autophagy. I'm at about 24 hours and may or may not have a meal. OMAD is normal on my days off. Am glad you conquered a new milestone!

Remember when you do start eating again to not eat a big normal meal. Work your way into it. Give your system time to adjust. -

Good job ob the mustard and sardines. I had cheese omelet for lunch today and leftover ribs tonight. If your gonna make it till Sat evening, ya might as well wait till breakfast or lunch Sunday. That would be 36 hours or more. Don't watch the clock. Space out the things you can take without breaking a fast. Water/coffee/tea/vitamins/etc. Just go untill ya just say "I'm done". -

Since I was at work and they think I have to eat or starve, I had a three egg and cheese omelet for lunch. Then by quitting time, the pork ribs the owner had been smoking all day were finally done. So I brought home a slab of fall off the bone ribs. No sauce, just smokey goodness. -
Ketone test sticks
ol_hilly replied to ol_hilly's topic in Carnivore, Ketovore, Keto, & Low-Carb Support
I did spend a couple nights studying up on fat adaptation. I remember reading that one you get into ketosis, it will go up. And as you level out, so will the ketones. I suppose it's another visual reward for eating right. Instead of lights and buzzers, it's your stick turning pink or purple. -
Thought I'd start a thread that I've seen one like it go for 50 some pages. Tonight I'm having thinly sliced beef tongue with salt. I got a new frozen meat slicer and I'm liking it. Last night was thinly sliced pork loin fillet. Feel free to post away....

Anyone have any experience with ketone test sticks? What I can gather from watching vids is it shows when you have excess ketones and your flushing them out in your urine. (I wish I had got some back when I did the 30 day carni challenge) Now I'm more or less Ketovore. Last week I was measuring small to moderate. Then after the family reunion, I didn't even test a trace amount. One half a deviled egg and one spoon of cheezy corn. (don't tell, but I wasn't impressed) Was probably that small slice of German cake without frosting. Anyhoo, two days later and I'm back to Small on the test stick. I think Small means you have a small amount of ketones your passing through? I guess I'm asking if anyone is well enough versed on what they're about to explain it in layman's term. ???

Recipes or Meal ideas
ol_hilly replied to cwise's topic in Everyday Chit Chat & Off-topic Discussion
Some years back, I had a hankerin for chicken livers but didnt want to contend with the normal mess. Thought for sure there was a recipe for livers without flour and grease splatters. Came up with this one. Just dry fry them in a skillet. alil olive oil, some garlic and some lemon juice. I'll post a link. This was back before I was keto or carnivore or even knew what them words meant. But I think it could apply today to at least a ketovore diet. Or change it up to suit you. ...This is not my recipe. I just found it on the net. And tried it several times. https://www.food.com/recipe/stolen-garlic-chicken-livers-110936
