I need to explain and ask a question.

I had only hypothyroidism and extra body weight when starting in 2022

2022 I went carnavore lost 48 lbs in 4 months. Cholestrol was a little high. Doc said not to worry it will come down now that your eatting carbs.

But all tests otherwise came back purfect even lowering tyroid meds then.

2024/2025

After a accident and unable to do much I gained 40 pounds back and now I'm insulin resistant Pcos very high cholesterol and triglycerides. And a egfr of 59*

Doctor told me to go either on glp1 or keto .I chose keto so doctor put me on low fat meat and veggies. Also added fenofibrate which i just started and wants me to take a statin which I have but not taken and drink 119 ounces of water a day.

So my questions is.. will this help any? I watched the vedio on where you said you were on fenofibrate. But I'm still confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

Missed a few words

If your doctor wants you to eat low fat then he/she knows nothing about keto and even less about carnivore.

I wouldn’t take a statin simply because they do nothing for you and only produce side effects.

Just clean up your diet for good. When you get better look around at appreciate how much better you feel. Leave the meds and the garbage foods in the bin where they belong

I don't normally chime in on 'other people and their medicines' as that is between you and your doctor and becomes a personal choice, but.....

I am assuming that after the accident there was shift in diet as well?

I would think you have already seen the results of going carnivore once and I feel like you could expect the same, or at least similar results by giving it another try.

Personally, I am not a fan of statins. I had adverse reactions, certain beliefs in what it did to me (no medical affirmation, but a strong personal opinion) and have not read hardly anything positive.

I'd be hard-pressed to take a statin anyway, but if I already knew the positives of carnivore, I think I would go that way.

Yes there was a change in habit. ate what was served . Sure I could have complained but I was in no position to. I'll add fats to the diet and take the fenofibrate as well till I have labs I plan on doing myself in 3 weeks. If the trigs are down I won't be taking them anymore. Trust me the Statin rosuvastatin* they gave me I have no plans of adding. I just picked them up so the Mil. Doc doesn't realize I didn't take them. The Fenofibrate isn't a statin according to research I did . But want to thank everyone who responded it's preaty much the way I was gonna go.

Likely ALL of that is (poor) diet related. High carb high sugar diet brought back the weight, made you insulin resistant, and is likely the cause in the rise of your triglycerides. Your eGFR indicates you are on the cusp of Stage 3a Chronic Kidney Disease.

You had success before on a keto-carnivore diet, and you can have success again. I would make returning to and sticking to a proper human diet (carnivore or carnivore-centric keto/ketovore) your primary goal.

Yes, cholesterol may go up. We do not worry about that. Trigs usually drop dramatically, but in my case they actually went up because of my kidney disease.

I no longer recommend fenofibrate. I was on it for a year, and it tanked my kidneys, and I was deep into stage 5 renal failure for a while. I am currently reversing the damage done. If you remain on fenofibrate, get blood labs regularly and watch that creatinine and eGFR. If creatinine rises and eGFR comes down, get off if it immediately.

Those trigs might go up during active weight loss but will eventually come down when you reach a goal weight and remain weight stable for several months. Omega-3 supplementation (fish oil) has been known to help lower trigs.

I should have recognized the adverse effects of fenofibrates such as muscle twitching, late night leg cramps, and more, but I passed it off as an electrolyte imbalance due to my kidneys. I don't take fenofibrate nor any electrolytes anymore and I am fine.

But you want to eat fatty meat, not lean meat. In the absence of carbs, fat is your energy, and your goal is to become fat adapted.

The vegetables are optional. Either eliminate them altogether or only eat the low carb cruciferous kind while weight loss and healing are your goals. Later in life you can occasionally treat yourself/toy with a few more single-ingredient plants or fruits, but you have goals to reach first and one of them is getting the addiction to carbs and sweet tasting things under control.

So my experience with fenofibrate ended in a nightmare. There is a part of me that wants to take the video down, but at the same time the explanation of what's happening in the body and everything else is still good information.

Now I would do diet first. Today I only take meds for blood pressure and that's it.

My LDL varies between 200 and 300 and I am not worried. My trigs were up to 2887 at their highest as you know from the video. Fenofribrate brought them down to about 555. And believe it or not, I just tested again 2 days ago after being off fenofibrate since last November (6 months now) and my trigs were 222, proving they would have come down on their own eventually (I do take fish oil).

Yes, they say high trigs increases your "risk" of heart disease, but I am still alive and well. "Risk" is relative and so much goes into "risk". Most people who have high trigs eat candy, cakes, cookies, pies, chips, donuts, and other high carb junk foods. But that's not me. My trigs are high for an entirely different reason (most likely that I spill lipoprotein lipase in my urine due to my CKD). So were my trigs still a relative higher "risk". Maybe. I'm not so sure.

Now with that said, I know people who take fenofibrate with no issues at all, such as my father. And I know doctors who take statins. For example, Dr. Ford Brewer takes a very low dose rosuvastatin, not for it's LDL lowering effects, but because it helps keep down inflammation. Sure there is a time and a place for these things, but I personally believe that most medications should be temporary, not lifelong, and one's goal is to get to the root cause and fix the issue, which is usually diet and nutrition.

I get it. You're still low carb but with lean meat, making yours a high protein keto diet instead of a high fat keto diet. This is sustainable.

Ah, as a temporary measure? Makes sense. But low fat long term is no bueno. Especially when you risk eating too much protein. Thanks for the clarification.

Congrats on the successes.

When I adjusted the fat content down (twice, once on purpose as i thought I was smarter than the system and once, I didn't totally recognize I sacrificed fat to hit a gram of protein per pound of body weight target) I gained weight.

The first time I was six or so months deep and was using leaner cuts of meat. I didn't think I was missing the fat mark by a bunch but turns out I was actually on a higher protein to moderate fat (moderate at best). The weight fall turned to what I called a 'stall' but the stall started to add a few pounds. At that point success was being determined by having to cinch up my work belt. On the higher protein lesser fat combination, I had to go the opposite direction and let a notch out. Self-inflicted but still somewhat disheartening.

The second time I was so intent on hitting a total protein I used some leans to get as much protein in as I could. I had morphed into a OMAD person, was seldom hungry and really struggled to get 200g of protein in a day. As I worked my way up to the protein target the fat content sort of got left out. I was not really keeping up with the weight as a marker but I did notice a notch in the belt and I had gained 8-9 pounds in pretty much no time.

I think I am one of those who the higher fat content is a must, maybe even a bit higher than what people would call high fat/moderate protein.

Since he is still eating the fat on the steak, he's probably more of a high protein, moderate fat diet. This sort of resembles what Dr. Baker does.

Of course, we are all concerned about a high protein, zero carb, low fat diet, due to the risk of "rabbit starvation". But remember @Angel SAR isn't doing carnivore, but rather keto. I imagine ultimately his is in a "caloric deficit".

Update: off those crazy meds didn't last long. I felt like I just got run over by the LMTV . The food I was fed was suck axx chow hall crap.

Went to the following and doc be damned . I'm eatting 2 t bone steaks and eggs and bacon most days and then salmon and ribs other days . If I eat to much fat im running for the golden throne. I also added in krill oil . BYW im a she* but weight loss is 29 lbs now.

Yes that can happen to every one of us. There's only so much bile on hand to help break down fat during the digestion process. If you eat more fat then you have bile at the ready, it will go right through you.

As a general rule, if you struggle with constipation add more fat. If your problems are the exact opposite, back off the fat a little.

The one time I had constupation my daughter and avid keto holic since she reversed her DT2 165 to 120lbs brought me a black cup of coffee added heavy whipping cream and said drink it all. Yeah I don't think i finished it........I was running for the bathroom. I don't ahere to coffee on carnavore but faced with drugs or coffee I choose the later. But any tips and tricks would greatly help. Also can I eat shrimp crab and lobster?? We have a seafood holliday coming up.... I appreciate you all talking to me and all I feel like im in this alone from how people talk to me about this and act...

Absolutely you can eat sea food and it’s recommended to get your iodine and omega 3.
Just can’t have any of it battered in flour and deep fried in seed oils.
Battered in pork rind panko and fried it tallow is ok though.

Yes, coffee does go right through me too. In fact, coffee was the primary cause of the ulcerative colitis I suffered through for over a decade. I won't touch it now. But, I was a POT per day drinker. Most people can drink it just fine, and don't drink nearly as much as I was.

Yes indeed. I love shrimp and lobster. There's a local seafood restaurant that specializes in a seafood boil that I like to visit occasionally for my seafood fix.

Just like @Geezy said though, you would want to avoid anything battered and breaded and deep fried.
