after my bike ride today loaded the bike and started driving home and started feeling sick, puller over and laid down for a while but chest and left arm pain was starting.

Managed to get a hold of one of the other riders and asked if he could take my bike because I had to go to hospital.

Was able to drive myself to emergency, they could not do the surgery because they had someone else with same issue but but more serious, so I got a helicopter ride to another hospital.

Hopefully I get out tomorrow, I have been carnivore for 9 months, I am 61 years old and overall in good health, so I thought

I am glad you're still with us. Don't let them tell you carnivore, animal fats plugged your arteries as it takes DECADES of abuse

to do this damage.

Keep the good fight and get well soon.

I was thinking the same thing that there is more to some partially clogged arteries, they said there was another at about 30%

If one is to question the carnivore diet, that does not make them anti-carnivore. I've observed nothing but respectfully asking questions from a newcomer, and this is the welcome he gets. I want to be challenged on what I eat, on what I read, on what I do. Especially if it's done respectfully.

We should not be gatekeepers. If you can't be challenged, then why spend words to begin with?

I think @Nick Heaz did not deserve such a rude response.

He poked the bear. Not saying he deserves to be spoken to rudely. Everyone deserves the same basic respect. I'm not sure who poked who first, but Bob had to clean the place up and it takes two to tango

I'm not going to point the finger at anyone. Things were said, and the responses to each other were understandable. We're all human. They got to read them before I edited them. They just can't remain publicly visible. Neither party should be vilified nor considered to be more guilty than the other. Let's move along.

Ok here are some test results they released me with

I'm not sure why they highlighted the A1C as it's still not in the pre-diabetic range.

The LDL is marked high. Have you been losing weight recently while on carnivore? LDL is stored in adipose tissue and naturally goes up during weight loss. It will return to baseline, or your new baseline, after a few months of remaining weight stable.

It's not a surprise that they are pushing a statin. That is entirely up to you. I think it's worth noting that Dr. Ford Brewer takes a low dose statin for it's anti-inflammatory properties. And Dr. Berry is open to the idea of prescribing a statin to someone who had already had a previous heart attack. He even says it's alright to compromise on low dose statin, like 5 mg of Resuvastatin, just to shut your doctor up, lol.

Many of us have LDL lower than yours. Mine is a 300, I think most people here average around 200. What we know for sure you do not need to do is get it to 100 or less.

I'm not sure why A1C is highlighted either, I have not lost any weight mostly maintained, if I lost it was very little.

Fasted insulin and/or c-peptide, Lp(a), apo(b), hsCRP and ESR, as well as homocysteine could all be ordered to better asses your current cardiovascular health and risk of reinfarction.

In 3 months time once you’ve been able to recover you should absolutely run a full comprehensive panel and then again in 6 months. Your risk of another heart attack is now significantly higher. Be smart with monitoring your labs and continue to be open to making changes to your health and lifestyle.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I have medical training, nor do I have a medical condition anywhere similar to yours. My post will be with a much broader stroke not a 'this is what you need to do' but more of 'what I think I would do'.

I will also lead in with all medicine is not bad and all doctors are not bad. The entire purpose of medicine is to treat a symptom. The entire purpose of the medical system is to treat. There is nothing wrong to take a medicine to alleviate a symptom.....as you continue to pursue the cure. Medicine was never meant to be a lifelong endeavor.

I have/had an auto-immune disease that would have been/might be a big part of my ultimate demise. With no medical evidence nor medical background I believe the 'straw that broke the camel's back' was the statin I was prescribed. And with that said, the 50 plus years of pummeling my body was the primary factor. I'm 55 now and in 2018 I had four prescriptions filled in my entire adult life. Even before pre-carnivore I was not a 'go to the doctor-take the medicine' kind of person.

I'm definitely not a statin fan, and my doctor has offered up non-statin type alternatives, but I don't feel like my cholesterol is near a point I need to start a short term nor a long-term daily pill.

Sometimes there are medical conditions that need to be addressed today, and doctors and medicine can help address the 'today' decisions. I have learned to be the biggest fan of carnivore as it has changed my life for the better. I have read and learned more about the body, my body, in the last 13 months than I had in the previous fifty plus years. I continue learn thru the aspect of carnivore and one of the first thing every carnivore question can be answered with is that this way of eating takes time to do the healing. In a lot of cases there is no time.

Just like most anything in life, the combinations work better than the singulars. Being open minded does not stop at our own personal preferences nor does it stop at our personal choices.

With that broad stroke, I don't see an issue with using a medicine as a temporary adjustment while using this way of eating as a long-term solution.

And with that said, most everyone gets the choice of the sword upon which they fall.

I wish you the best with your health. Thoughts and prayers.

Scott
